With these names thought Campusano might be in play - until they traded Caratini today.

Paddock? I wish the FO would quit horsing around and get a stud.

Well damn....just get an ace!  Genius!  They have those for, like, 6 for a $1 down the road.  How foolish we haven't pounced!

Sneak preview: "Twins acquire reincarnated Cy Young"  h2oface: "Eh, I mean, yeah, he's Cy Young incarnate but his jersey seems a little loose.  D- on the deal"

I'm not so sure Rogers isn't damaged goods now anyway, and with the rehab path he chose, he will need surgery soon. I wish we could throw in a Yankee or 2.

That's a big "no" to trading Rogers. I can see the lingering injury concern, but it's not worth the risk of an imploding late-inning bullpen. If no other reasonable asks emerge in talks, keep developing internal candidates and move on.

So no to trading Rodgers no matter who he brings in return.  That's a hard line.

They got Sonny Gray

I'm not crazy about Paddock especially for any higher valued player such as Kepler or Larnach. I'd like a CF sub but not at that price

Twins get Paddack and Gore, then bump Archer to the pen and trade Bundy?

Don't like it and if you want Archer in the pen, he's not used to it & doesn't fair as well there. Bad choice. Don't want to lose Larnach or Taylor for these 2, hope it doesn't go through. There has to be something better. I'd give up Larnach for Montas or Lopez but not Paddock or Gore

I don't understand how Rogers' "value" using that trade scenario is only 7.2

It is surplus value, in millions. Rogers is making $7.3 mil and is a free agent at the end of the year, not a whole lot of opportunity for surplus value (although he can be useful at that price).

He has pretty good numbers until 2021. But I’m not convinced he can get his old form back on a team that is notable for making newly acquired decent pitchers perform poorly. It’s also the same team where poor performing pitchers, once departed, suddenly perform exceptionally well on their new teams.

That literally makes no sense and is purely anecdotal.  Gotta give us more bro'.

If they move Rogers they must really believe in Duran. Even so I don’t see how they can move Rogers and improve the team. They need a really good season from both Rogers and Duran to really contend.

I would trade a corner OF prospect for pitching. The OF always has the much higher floor but you pay a premium for pitching,

Now what's going on? Twins have to know trading Rodgers for Paddock would be very very bad. I get the Padres want major league talent but Rogers is the glue on an otherwise sad looking bullpen

Unless the ask would be something crazy HUGE for Rogers.  It would have to be to be to justify giving up that amount of talent.  Paddock alone wouldn't even come close, years of control or not.

Given what elite relievers are going for with extensions I doubt the Twins have plans on extending Rogers.  Twins need to get value out of that deal though and with San Diego to this point not willing to give up their top 3 prospects seems like it might be hard to find the right match.

Gore was scary last year in a bad way.  I don't think you want to risk a deal with one of the elite relievers in baseball for him at this point.

At any rate I can see them trading Rogers now instead of at the deadline.  This front office doesn't really seem to believe in closers and they don't like to park their money in the pen.  If they find the right deal I could see them pulling the trigger.

I doubt Rodgers is in the deal... But remember, the twins were a top ten bullpen in the second half last year.... Try to erase the early months from your minds...

The Padres don’t need a quarterback, so I’m sure Rodgers is not coming to them in a trade.

C’mon people, spelling names isn’t that hard.

I don't think the FO loves rogers, hence the Alex Colome experience.  Or like its been said they might value the years of control and think its the best possible return.
