Rocco said that Max Kepler was out yesterday as he was unable to run after fouling a ball off his knee. X-rays were negative, but if he can’t run on Tuesday, the Twins will probably make an IL move.

Kirilloff has moved to the outfield with Max’s absence. The Twins could recall Miranda or Severino off the 40-man list, but the admirable depth is almost used up and it’s only 4/1.

tough start to the year with Larnach and Lee hurt also....feel really bad for Larnarch, as this could be his chance...

The amount of injured players in this organization on April 1 is staggering.  Something aint working.

I'd be interested to see data on this compared to other organizations.

But many injuries are freak incidents. The only way Kepler could have avoided this would be to not swing at a particular pitch.

It's not fun watching a player wash out, but he's been given a lot of chances.

The only injury that makes me think something isn't working - DeSclafani. The injury risk was a giant blinking neon sign and the Twins apparently misread it or didn't read it at all.

Nervous laughter is a problem for Justin Morneau and it was extremely uncomfortable to hear him laugh immediately after Kepler got hurt. I watch a lot of baseball and I dont recall an announcer ever laughing over a player being injured. The laughter was certainly not meant to be mean (I dont think Morneau has a mean bone in his body) but it made for a real weird moment to have your teams color announcer laughing as a long time Twin jumped around in pain. I know laughter was the last thing on my mind as I worried about Kepler's health.

Speaking of announcers I have enjoyed Corey Provus on TV. A nice upgrade over Bremer who thought people turned on the game to hear him. I hope Morneau gets better as he was awful this weekend. Laughing when Kepler got hurt (to be clear it bugged me not because JM was being a jerk, I just cant imagine watching another Twins player go down and hear him laughing as I worried about their health) and talking non stop for 3 innings to start the first game.

I do remember the laughter but I thought it was in response to a question Provus asked. He asked something along the lines of was a hitter focused on the pain or was he focused on the next pitch. I don't think he was laughing at or about Keplers pain.

Isn't that basically the Twins new hitting philosophy!?!? Total disregard for his coaching!

I expect Kepler will go on the 10-day, retroactive as far back as allowed. Then Miranda will be called up and mostly play DH, with Kirilloff in left.

I am very encouraged that Kirilloff is trusted in the OF again, last year I suspected his days there were over. The team is much more flexible if he isn't glued to 1B.

I miss the days when just Buxton…(and a recently acquired arm, of course)…were the only ones on the IL. Much simpler times.

After Ober's outing yesterday I've been dreading the announcement that he's got a tender elbow or a sore shoulder...  :(

After yesterday's outing, dreading or hoping for?

He was dollars to even out a trade, not a target. The injury risk was the reason why the trade worked the way it did.

Looks like I was wrong, Max back in RF in Milwaukee.

No matter how many times people try to pass this off, it's still not true.

What difference does it make if it was DeSclafani as the 5/6 guy instead of using that money to sign Carlos Carrasco to be the 5/6 guy?

They don't need to be raked over the coals because they picked a 5/6 guy who busted, that was almost guaranteed to happen no matter who it was. They need to be raked over the coals because they targeted a 5/6 guy in the first place.

I agree.

But the post I responded to claimed the Twins didn't target Desclafani.

And Max ends up on the IL. The guys track record with stuff like this is frustrating. Anytime Max is dinged they just need to IL him because this song has been played too many times. And when his IL stint is done he won’t go on a rehab assignment and will suck for a week before he gets his timing back. I just don’t get how the Twins have treated this guy like some stalwart in the lineup with his track record.
