Brandon Verified Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I am not a fan of trading Rogers. I was kinda hoping we extend him a few more seasons. will be interesting to see what the offers are for. if we can get something worthwhile maybe. tarheeltwinsfan 1

LastOnePicked Verified Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 That's a big "no" to trading Rogers. I can see the lingering injury concern, but it's not worth the risk of an imploding late-inning bullpen. If no other reasonable asks emerge in talks, keep developing internal candidates and move on. tarheeltwinsfan 1

h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I'm not so sure Rogers isn't damaged goods now anyway, and with the rehab path he chose, he will need surgery soon. I wish we could throw in a Yankee or 2.

TheMatt Verified Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Please no. Padres got Manea for a song, and he is deemed better than Paddock. Our bullpen was bad last year, and only addition was Joe Smoth, so losing Rogers would hurt a lot tarheeltwinsfan 1

Doctor Gast Verified Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I'm not crazy about Paddock especially for any higher valued player such as Kepler or Larnach. I'd like a CF sub but not at that price

Don't like it and if you want Archer in the pen, he's not used to it & doesn't fair as well there. Bad choice. Don't want to lose Larnach or Taylor for these 2, hope it doesn't go through. There has to be something better. I'd give up Larnach for Montas or Lopez but not Paddock or Gore Game7-91 and Heiny 2

But I’m not convinced he can get his old form back on a team that is notable for making newly acquired decent pitchers perform poorly. It’s also the same team where poor performing pitchers, once departed, suddenly perform exceptionally well on their new teams. That literally makes no sense and is purely anecdotal. Gotta give us more bro'.
jorgenswest Verified Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 If they move Rogers they must really believe in Duran. Even so I don’t see how they can move Rogers and improve the team. They need a really good season from both Rogers and Duran to really contend. I would trade a corner OF prospect for pitching. The OF always has the much higher floor but you pay a premium for pitching, Game7-91 1

Azviking101 Verified Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I think a lot of people are really underselling what Rogers has been. 2.13-2.85 FIP each of the past 4 years. Only injury problem was a minor finger issue which obviously is gone based on his spring stats. Pair that with an insane 13.2 K/9 last season and Rogers is an elite bullpen arm. Dman Verified Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Given what elite relievers are going for with extensions I doubt the Twins have plans on extending Rogers. Twins need to get value out of that deal though and with San Diego to this point not willing to give up their top 3 prospects seems like it might be hard to find the right match. Gore was scary last year in a bad way. I don't think you want to risk a deal with one of the elite relievers in baseball for him at this point. At any rate I can see them trading Rogers now instead of at the deadline. This front office doesn't really seem to believe in closers and they don't like to park their money in the pen. If they find the right deal I could see them pulling the trigger. lukeduke1980 1

lukeduke1980 Verified Member Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I don't think the FO loves rogers, hence the Alex Colome experience. Or like its been said they might value the years of control and think its the best possible return.
