For me, it's not about how much you spend in a trade, it's about how well you trade. IMO, Minter is a step in the right direction, but Kremer is not. He's more about Twins usual making a trade just checking off a box, & say see we traded for a SP, instead of making a good trade that moves the needle. This was a step in the wrong direction.

I wouldn't mind even trading a higher prospect, who has been really hyped for a much better SP than Kremer. Kremer adds very little this year & nothing next year. Surely not worth the real potential of Reyes (go big or go home). I really hope that the Twins see something real that they can change that makes a big difference & not HOPE that he can become what he was before. Not a fan of this one, but I 'd love being proven wrong. Zoll is in the spotlight, will his time in LAD shine or will his time with Falvey prevail? I'm hoping for the prior.

Twins 'Having Nightmares' About Last Season's Louis Varland Trade

Rodon was headliner, any value he can give us he has to do it now & he's not doing it, He'll be very quickly squeezed out by Jenkins & Rodriguez. Rojas can become a very good SP but IMO most of his best potential realized will not be as a Twin.

Last deadline, the only trade I liked was the Jax/ Bradley trade. It was a fair trade; we gave up a good player & got one back. But the whole idea of selling at the deadline was to make a killing & that never happened. We gave up a lot of talent for a lot of pie in the sky. The trade I hated the most was the Varland trade. The trade might have looked good on their weird analytical paper but they & many have undersold Varland because they overlooked his potential. When he sputtered in the rotation, I advocated to keep Varland up & transfer him to the BP & not waste his bullets in AAA. When they finally brought him up to the BP, they quickly traded him w/o giving him much time to prove himself. TOR saw his potential; it's a pity that the Twins did not & traded away a hometown boy with a lot of heart & a dream to take his hometown team far into the playoff. It broke my heart to see his reaction to the trade. That trade made no sense to me.

I like it. I'd like more to see a solid SP, especially now with Ryan dragging. Transferring Prielipp & Zebby to the the BP, where they can be elite to very good.

Clemens has been a solid player. His stock just went up. Way to go Clemens! Stole victory out of the jaws of defeat. How many times can we do that w/o Buxton?

Baseball Gods to Tom Pohlad: 'Aight, Bet'
Andy MacPhail replied to Matthew Trueblood's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
IMO, since Zoll had free reins, he could have done a MLBer/ MLBer trade for a legit high-leverage RP, early, which would have put us in a much better position to take the division. Now, we need to go big & get someone like Gausman to bolster the rotation & squeeze Prielipp & Zebby into a position to excel in the BP. We have some hyped up prospects that can get the job done w/o touching our future.- 128 replies

Royals 4, Twins 0: An Old Friend Acts Foe-ish
Andy MacPhail replied to Cory Moen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Dobber was a very good GB SP, who served the Twins well. But he didn't have a KO punch which led to some long counts & base hits. He developed a new slider & started to strike out hitters during ST. That pitch put a lot of stress on his middle finger, Because it was a new pitch, he wasn't conditioned for it & Twins wanted him to use it all the time instead of only when needed for that SO pitch. That screwed up his finger, which he never recovered from. I'm happy that the Dobber is back to his old self (that I hoped he would) with a good INF to back him up. I was hoping that the Twins would shake themselves off & punish the BP, but that never happened.- 66 replies

IMO, it's crazy bringing Sands up so quick when he needed a lot more time to cook, especially when he didn't pitch that great before this season. We need someone who can help us not drag us down in the BP.

Report: Twins Were Offered Two Top Red Sox Prospects for Joe Ryan at Last Year's Deadline
-
Some say if you want to compete, you need to buy not sell. To me it's like saying, you can't walk & chew gum at the same time. Sure, if you want to go for it all, you don't sell & you put up your coveted prospects, but IMO, Twins aren't in that position, they can still sell at covered spots & fill needs to become more competitive in '26 & in the future. Staying pat isn't a good option.

Can Carson Tinney Be the Next Ryan Jeffers?
Andy MacPhail replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
IMO, my friend, is that too many teams focus on drafting catchers that can hit & hope they can improve their defense. They may improve their defense, but if they fail to hit; they're cooked. The biggest problem with NYY main catchers is that they aren't hitting.- 16 replies

So, Greg, are you telling me that as a fan, I shouldn't want Jeffers to be traded but maybe if I was a GM, I should? I've seen too many players who loved being a Twin & wanted to remain a Twin, get traded. I'd like Jeffers to remain a Twin & IMO, Jeffers likes being a Twin but him choosing Boras as his agent, he's OK with not being a Twin. So, I'm OK with trading him. If that means picking up a good young MLB-ready catcher with options, to cover for Caratini & Jackson, so be it. Or maybe Cardenas steps up to become the teams' 3rd catcher.

Can Carson Tinney Be the Next Ryan Jeffers?
Andy MacPhail replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
The simularity between Jeffers & Tinney is that they're both unpolished. IMO, Tinney has a stronger arm & is more athletic than Jeffers. The biggest difference is that Jeffers had Tanner Swanson & Tinney will not. After Swanson, Twins have continue to show confidence that they can develop catchers, but have fallen very short. Firing Conger is the step in the right direction but haven't shown me anything positive that they are doing anything to solve this problem. Until they do, I'll continue to be leary.- 16 replies

I wouldn't trade Joe Ryan unless they can get at least a MLB-ready SP who they can make into a Bradley & a good promising MLB-ready catcher who can be our 3rd catcher, has options & can hold the torch until Lackey is ready to take over the primary duties. I wouldn't want any prospects especially those who don't fill a need, I don't care how high they rank. So. I'd say no to all these.
