  1. We are in desperate need in the BP. SWR has 7 scoreless innings in relief since joining TOR with 1 win.
  2. Many clamor, "we need more offense"; I've always said we have enough offense, we only need more clutch hitting & priority of course is BP. It's amazing, we are doing so well with this BP. To be seriously competitive, FO needs desperately to get high-leverage RPs, & keep our better RPs in low-medium leverage, except Gomez (IMO, we wasted him in a meanless game, last night).
  3. We should have won this game, like many other games we've played. A team is as strong as their weakest link. The BP is our weakest link. Because of this, our rotation is left in too long. They tire & lose their edge, runners get on base & score, RPs come in with runners on base, we don't have high leverage RPs to put out the fire, so the game implodes, the momentum changes & INF defense falls apart. We lose our lead & game. I understand that trades that should've been made in the offseason is more difficult during the season. We can be very competitive once we get high-leverage RPs, until the GM makes it happen, Until then, we have to suffer through these games.
  4. Twins have good players, their biggest problem hasn't been their players. Whenever they decide to fix their BP, they can really compete. If they had made the BP their priority & got serious RPs to begin the season; we'd be easily leading our division.
  5. Bingo. So many baseball journalists & podcasters I used to like, have turned to the dark-side. Being influenced by big coastal team mentality of smaller teams have no right to compete, they have to trade their best players to them, so I no longer follow them. My scope of MLB news has gotten much smaller. I don't give any credence to what Jim Bowden says.
  6. I put in a Jeffers/NYY trade at BTV a couple of months ago & got a surprisingly good response. The need & means are there for NYY, Twins can't sign Jeffers & he's having a record year. I hope Zoll can swing a good deal once Jeffers gets back on track. IMO, it's a perfect storm.
  7. IMO, Twins should sell & buy. To protect themselves, yet be competitive. I like Jeffers & I'd like to sign him to a reasonable extention. But, I can't see that happening. If the Twins had foresight, they'd have got a promising young MLB-ready catcher to make an easy transition at catcher years ago. They did not, Which forced the Twins (who is supposingly strapped for $) to obtain another big bucks FA & possibly overpay for Jeffers in FA. I see Jeffers as a must trade. I don't want to trade Joe Ryan but even after last season big sell-off, we still need a young promising MLB-ready catcher. Unfortunately, I'm open to sell Ryan for a young promising MLB-ready catcher & upside SP. We have a lot of LH cOFers so Larnach is expendable, Larnach & Bell have no future with the Twins so they should be traded. To be competitive we need to keep our good young RPs, the others aren't worth anything & some should be DFAs. If we can come up with a promising young closing canidate, great.
  8. I love Buck from the time he was in the MiLB. I have stayed true to that impression. Social media flooded the internet with "Buck was bitter with the Twins & didn't want to sign". It was a lie because Buck really wanted to stay. IMO it was hype from teams that wanted him. The reason that the Twins didn't want to sign him was never the money; it was because he wanted a no trade clause. Absolute crazy. Twins should have signed him much sooner. I agree it's the best thing that happened to the Twins. Buck has been adamant that he wants to stay, yet we still hear the same crappy trade deals. Let's stop giving credence to this same social media crap & thank God that we have him. We could never come close to receive in what Buxton means to the Twins. Twins stop dealing away the heart the team.
  9. I'm sorry but I like underdogs, late bloomers players. They should have called him up a long time ago. Especially when Jeffers went down & Caratini caught regularly. Fedco should play against all LHPs, I don't know how well he does against RHPs. They should give him as many quality ABs as possible. I'd like the Twins adopt CLE's philosophy of developing & giving opportunity to such players. Ernie Clement is a late bloomer & helped TOR get to the WS. Twins analytics often write off such in-house players & not give much of an opportunity.
  10. Twins are lost in some things, they blew it with SWR. He was sick last season, to begin the season, he was sicker than a dog & they still pitched him!? He got out of sinc & behind & never got the opportunity & slack to recover before they DFAed him (like we had a ton of great experienced pitchers!). He got some rest & TOR put him in the BP. As expected he pitched 4 scoreless innings against Philly. Twins need to get their act together pertaining the BP.
  11. The last few years, the Twins have looked very good on paper but couldn't execute, which resulted in disappointing seasons. Last year dead-line devestated the BP & line-up, I was especially disappointed with the Varland trade. If we kept Varland, we'd have won most of the close games we lost, sustaining the momentum of those winning streaks. That alone would have made the difference between a struggling team to a competitor. We needed a closer this offseason, a trade of one of our abundant LH hitting cOFers would have sufficed. Staking the Twins' BP future on losing lotto tickets isn't the pragmatic way to go. Supposingly, it's more difficult to make trades after the off-season. Yet, the Twins need to find a way to make it happen. We can still make it to the post season if we do. A winning attitude is so important.
  12. I'm not a big fan of Law. CWS with 3 promising young MLB-ready catchers (Keel, Quero & Romo), when most teams don't have one, pass over Cholowsky (SS) for Lackey (C). Even though hoarding catching makes much more sense than corner players, I still don't see it.
  13. If we can get some young impact players who can help the club soon then yeah & not a bunch of lotto tickets who might never really do anything. We don't need anymore redundant LH hitting corner players that last regime liked to stock-pile & hoard who haven't made much of an impact yet. Will the new regime under Zoll be much better? I hope so eventually but I doubt it right away. Then I'd prefer to keep Ryan especially if there is going to be a salary floor.
  14. I really like Jeffers, he starts off strong offensively & is competent defensively. He's very good in challenging balls & strikes. But he'll wane as the season goes on & not worth the QO. Twins' problem has been over-paying some players & not getting players they need. It was very easy to see the catching dilema coming but the Twins have been blind to it. For years the Twins should have invested in a young promising MLB catcher but have failed to do so. Over-paying Jeffers shouldn't be the solution for Twins' past short-coming.
