Alex Schieferdecker Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Could've traded Happ for half off a Killebrew root beer and I would've been satisfied. An actual major league pitcher who has improved in the bullpen and a low-end prospect is even better. Minny505, Jerr and Unwinder 3

I chalk it up to the Twins FO adroitly negotiating through the SuperSecretMLBTradeRumors.com that you and I never see, letting word out that there was steadily increasing interest in JA Happ and teams better get their offers to them in a hurry or risk missing out. Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 I've said all along that if they don't deal Pineda, I'd call this a failed deadline....but now that they've dealt Happ for TWO players? I don't know that I can say that. Minny505, TwinsDr2021, darwin22 and 5 others 8

howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 This is like leaving your sofa on the curb and still having someone give you $100 for it. Unless it's counterfeit and the cops are in hot pursuit around the corner. I assume the "cash considerations" - the Twins paid his entire remaining salary. Still a good trade. LA Vikes Fan Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Wait, am I reading this right? We got a 28 year old pitcher on a real major league roster with a sub 3.5 ERA and a AA pitcher for the withered husk of J.A. Happ? Wow ..... just, wow. roger and darwin22 2

KBJ1 Verified Member Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Anything for Happy & Robles is a win just because they are now, thankfully, off the roster. Cruz trade made great sense and whi says we cant sign him next year. Berrios leaving is a sad situation. Maybe the Twins will be in position to bid for his services in 2023.. The win now window with this team has closed. They blew it by not signing a closer for 2019 & 2020. If they learn anything it is when you are close, you only have a 1-3 year window to win with the talent you have before they become to expensive. You therefore MUST acquire the pieces you need to get to the top when your window is open. Not doing that, then selling off the pieces and trying to live on future hope, is what always dooms this franchise. (2019 & a closer like Rosenbaum comes to mind. Rogers, Duffy, May & Rosenbaum would have been a formidable pen) This years bullpen was a joke. Mike Sixel 1
