Kepler crushes Gordon

First batter against Red Sox. They are both running full speed to a ball that either could catch (and one did). Several minutes for Gordon to get up and make it into the cart off the field. Maybe both Garlick and Rooker have a place now.

Probably wrong time to mention this because his health is most imporant right now, but this is what happens when the Twins consistently run with IF in the OF with no experience. Kepler has played there forever now and I'm sure he called it off.

Sano, Arraez, Gordon. When will they learn?

Gordon played out there quite a lot last year, and has been playing out there a lot this ST ... he isn't exactly without experience. And, he will be used as a backup outfielder this year. He's done an adequate job of it as a super utility guy.

I hope he's okay.

THIS will be the year of Jake Cave. We will all eat our words when Cave's slash line is 3/4/5. Anything is possible (before opening day gives us a sudden jolt of reality).

This happens many times even with seasoned players in their position.  It sucks it happened but will not be last time it happenes.  I did not see the play, but if Gordon is the CF it is his ball to call and Kepler is to let up to the CF generally.

It never happens to Ofers.  Kubel says hi.

You're right: it is the wrong time to mention it.

And Gordon has many innings in the OF at this point, including next to Kepler.

And they've all been playing baseball for 20+ years. If you know these rules at home...they know them too.

He was in LF, where he's almost never played.

He has played there enough to know how it goes. But I’d have to see video of it. Hope he isn’t seriously hurt

Reports are headaches but no concussion.  He past all protocols.

Please neither Garlic nor Rooker and a speedy recovery to much needed Gordon.

Watching Kepler and Gordon's speed running , pretty much exemplifies why the Twins need a better Left fielder.

Fielding Bible put Twins left field at minus 15 runs last year, it has not improved.

Thank goodness. Gordon almost looked decapitated in the video. Here's hoping he feels ready to play by this weekend,

The time to learn position flexibility is when the games don't count.  Even experienced outfielders run into each other.

The Twins mlb.com page says Nick passed the concussion protocol.  I watched the play and replay. It looked like Kepler might have hit Nick in the head with his glove with the ball in it.   At the very least Nick’s head hit Kepler’s chest. I was worried there may be a nasty concussion.  But looks like he will be OK.

Kep was playing CF and Gordon in LF. It was Kep's ball to call. Plus Kep is way more experienced in the OF than Gordo.
