They did not need to trade him now! More bidders in the off season! I guess I should stop....

I agree Falvey caved too quickly unless this was a directive to start dumping salary by ownership.   If that’s true Correa will be gone by tomorrow hopefully

Does Falvey pay you by the word or by the post?

So who did you want?  Not your typical conjecture... literally, who that was offered to the Twins did you want?

There will be more deals. I would be very surprised actually if Jax is still a Twin in 23 hours. Bader, Castro and Columbe will all be gone. Stewart as well. I do expect Correa and Ryan to stay at this point.

I'm sure the first thing Jax did after walking off the field today was call his agent, "Get me out of here."

Probably no one as there was no reason to trade Duran outside of a pure salary dump.

How would we know who was offered? They didn't have to trade him....

Well some on here seem to.

Did we need to trade him.  Absolutely not.  Does a top closer help this team this year, or next?  Absolutely not.

He's only 18 years old and the Phillies #4 prospect at the coveted catching position. Were you expecting a Duran for Misiorowski swap with the Brewers straight up??

He's 3 years or more away. If ever. Duran is an established closer. The top one on the board. This is a clear signal of a full rebuild. Which is fine. Probably needs to happen.

The asking price for Duran was TWO TOP-100 PROSPECTS.  They got one (Abel is ranked 49) and one lottery ticket.  Nice.  I have to hand it to Falvey, he's doing a mighty fine job (cough, choke!).  I am sure there are 3-4 other teams out there that are saying to themselves "What the H?  We could have bettered that deal!"  Yeah, kinda underwhelming.

"Cough, cough..." No, more like giggle, giggle...First off - The included 18 y/o catcher was top 100 until this years draft. Secondly - The other GMs had their chance at Duran with similar prospects and passed. Market value hurts sometimes....

Not impressed. This is what you get when you can't develop any catchers?

That's two trades for guys who won't be here for years and years.

Like, this is a really bad trade.

It's franchise altering. In a bad way. This is the return you get of Duran was a rental. He's the best closer on the market and he's controllable through 2027.

Just putrid.

If I'm Correa and Buxton, I'm asking to be next.

Btw, fangraphs removed Tait from the top 100 list this week.... So, double yuck.

We’re not exactly great at developing defense and he’s already questionable to stick at C at 18. An age where athleticism is near peak. I’ve got a bad feeling we’ll be talking about 1B/DH Eduard Tait in 2 years.

And even if they did have to trade him, why take less than your price before the deadline date?  You had another 24 hours.  A lot of desperation can set in, especially as other relievers come off the board.

This feels like Falvey lost a staring contest.  And that’s with me liking  what I hear about the catcher

Keaschell and Culpeper are college guys who will be here this year and next, while they have Lopez and Ryan.... Tait will not.

I would slightly differ. Abel will be in the rotation this year, probably starting within a couple of weeks if not right away. Keaschall will be playing every day this year, also probably starting within a couple of weeks if not right away. . Culpepper may make the team next year; more likely starts out in AAA while we wait to see if Brooks Lee is a major-league player. I can see Culpepper up by mid-season next year and maybe earlier if someone gets hurt. Tate is farther away, probably at least three years given that he's all of 19 years old, but he's a Catcher which is something we desperately need and which is much harder to find. I think the comparison works and I think we got a couple valuable guys in this trade. So even if I would not have traded Duran, and I would not have done so, hard to complain a lot about the return.

I will tell you this though, I'm a little irritated that they decided on the full rebuild approach which is what the signals to me. I would have brought in a new manager to see if that was the problem first and then, if the results didn't get better, made these big moves in the off-season. But apparently that's not what they're going to do. I do expect Castro, Bader, Stewart, and probably Jax to follow Duran out the door. I would also not be surprised to see Correa in Houston, Vasquez in San Diego, and France on the street looking for work. We talked about a "soft sell". That's not what it looks like we're getting. This looks like the start of a hard sell/tear down of the roster.

For the record, he'll turn 19 in less than a month.

But yeah. He'll be a 300 AB .700 OPS staple without a position for Wichita in 2027. Yay.

Certainly one opinion, not shared by fangraphs, as neither is in their top 100.

FanGraphs sucks!  Just kidding, I've never looked at them. :)

Thanks. Seems like a fair evaluation with the Phillies at an A- and the Twins at a B+. The difference is that Philly got a guy that will help them now and you have to project the prospects helping the Twins. We will just have to see.
