  1. No, same Pohlad's. Just a different body to view. The 3.5mil the Jays are paying of Hoffman's 2027 salary proves to me it's the same Pohlad's. Everyone in the world knows that when the trading team picks up salary the prospect return is higher. This wasn't Zolls decision I don't believe. That came from higher up. Same Pohlad's.
  2. Franklin Arias and Peyton Tolle. But we wanted to keep Ryan so we could compete for a below .500 record.
  3. I would give the Minter trade an A-. Checked the box for need and he's been quality. The Hoffman trade I would downgrade that to a C grade. Prospect capital could have been less if they would have paid all of Hoffman's 2027 salary. C'mon this ownership can afford that extra 3-4 mil. Ridiculous. The Kremer trade? At best I give that a D. I could even be persuaded to go lower. We gave up the potential of Reyes for a DFA candidate by the Orioles. Edit: I like Hoffman and I see him as a good get. But pay out the money instead of pinching pennies.
  4. And we went out and got Kremer. For a prospect with high upside. Albeit years away from the ML. The Cubs today traded Taillon to the Jays for cash or a ptbnl. This is a fair comp to Kremer. What I would have expected to pay for him. Not that I wanted Kremer anyway.
  5. I have little issue with using Reyes as trade capital in acquiring help. I'm a proponent of using prospects in trades to get other pieces that you need. So actually no issue in trading Reyes. My issue is aiming low and acquiring a guy who has spent 4 months struggling. After 4 months to suddenly expect the light to go on and Kremer turns it all around is a huge stretch. Aim higher. Minter was a much better aim than this one.
  6. Was it worth the price? Simple yes. Amick and Bruin are borderline prospects. It's what you do with prospects that you doubt will make it. Trade them for a useful piece. Minter isn't washed up. He'll help.
  7. Nice to see that we finally after years have C prospects to talk about. Lackey, Tinney, Tait, Jimenez. Even Diaw. The Twins do have a decision to make with Jeffers over the next 5 days. Then if they don't trade him a decision to make with a QO. And Jeffers would need to decide on that if it comes to that. I don't see a Jeffers extension happening however. But good to see this be a conversation point. A few months ago we had next to nothing in the cupboard.
  8. Is Jeffers going to sign on with that affordable extension? Something tells me no. And he has earned as lucrative of a deal as he can get.
  9. Indeed these are the smart moves to make. This isn't the team that you go after a blockbuster name and overpay for. But any number of these guys would help you compete for this season. And I don't believe the price would be steep. You're looking at giving up guys like Klein, Olivares, Gallagher. Prospects that you can afford to lose. Besides not having to protect those prospects this winter.
  10. If an extension was happening I believe it would have already. Jeffers is going to be an FA. That's not a question at this point. Many advocate extending him the QO. Very doubtful this happens. Like it or not this team has a budget and has to fit that budget. Paying Jeffers 21-22 mil will be very hard to justify. If Caratini is kept that puts the C position at close to 30mil in 2027. I just don't see that happening. And if it did along with any arb raises how does having that kind of money invested in Jeffers allow for other moves to improve the club? There is very little chance of Ryan Jeffers being a Twin after 2026, the Twins see this happening too which is why Caratini is signed for next season already. The question is if trading him can improve the teams future enough to justify trading him now. I'm not thrilled with the players mentioned in this article from NYY.
  11. Should have done that deal. And that's not speaking from what we know today. That was a good deal then.
  12. Wipe. Wash. Rinse. Dry. Repeat. That is Tom's way. But I'm guessing that he's one of the guys that leaves the men's room skipping steps 2-5.
  13. I was in the camp that Wallner would have a nice bounce back season in 2026. Maybe he still will. But for now it should be in St.Paul. He was terrible here to be kind.
  14. 16 PA, very very small sample size. Twins have found no takers for Larnach for 2 off seasons and all of last season and the beginning of this one. I'm not of the mindset that there will be a very long line of teams for his services in July. I'm not against Trevor, he's actually one of this teams better hitters, but the reality of who he is as a player and his value is quite evident at this point.
  15. First thing to do is waive Outman and recall Roden. I'm not saying it is going to turn this team around but it's the right thing and smart thing to do. Simple and easy place to start.
  16. Wallner has struggled in high leverage situations. That's an issue. But he also appears to be one of this teams best hitters. Probably better keep him. And let him play every day against both L/R. But he should be DHing. Oh my bad, this team signed Josh Bell to man 1B and he shouldn't be so Bell gets the most time at DH. What a mess.
  17. Yes, Now Zoll however might agree with my first statement. This has become such a horribly run franchise.
  18. Personally I go with both Matthews and Abel and Bradley is in the Pen. Time to see what Abel has and why we traded Duran.
  19. There are 5 teams in the division, one of them will be last. Right now this one doesn't have the look of the upper echelon.
  20. I wanted to see the Twins work out a Sproat or Tong for Ryan deal, the other piece could have been further negotiated.
  21. Essentially the scenario that the Twins are playing is to not buy the lottery ticket at all because you don't want to buy the $5 ticket. This is crumpling that $5 loosely into your pocket and having it fall out and losing it when you pull your car keys out of your pocket. This is part of why car manufacturers started producing key fobs instead..... The Twins are choosing to crumple up the $5 by sitting on Ryan for what has every look of a last place team in a bad division.
