  1. I too still like the signing. But the team now has 14.5mil tied up in the C position. Honestly that's too much for a team with budget constraints. So I also look for a Jeffers trade, I conjecture in the next 4 weeks as having a C work with the pitchers throughout all of ST is preferred. But where I don't like the signing is if all 3 are kept meaning Jackson is taking a badly needed roster spot to be an emergency C and if either Jeffers or Caratini is plugged into the DH or 1B role with any regularity beyond a rare game here and there. No one if they are being honest about it can support playing league average hitters at 1B or DH is a good idea. If having all 3 around for 2026 does end up being the plan its a horrible one imo.
  2. As a C Caratini is a good bat. His bat shouldn't be played at either DH or 1B imo, very poor bat for either position. Carrying 3 C's is very poor roster management. Either Jeffers or Jackson needs to be traded or you just stash Jackson at AAA and have him as expensive insurance.
  3. This team should cause no one to have a wet dream that's for sure. What you suggest as for trading Jeffers I would not object to at all. But trading Jeffers you at least get some value over him walking for nothing. Caratini is a step backwards from Ryan but at least it's not falling off the end of the earth at this point.
  4. Or Caratini plays 1B as well. Which is also not good. He's a good hitter as a C but not at all as DH or 1B. I still like the signing but until we see what else shakes out the roster construction of this team is still awful imo.
  5. I just don't see someone trading for Jackson at 1.8 or whatever. I'm a little nervous that they will carry 3 C's
  6. Also wonder who gets the boot off of the roster. The newly acquired Vidal Brujan? Kriedler? Julien? Or one of Jeffers or Jackson traded?
  7. I can actually support this acquisition I think. On the negative side he has only shared the C role in a 50/50 measure twice in his career, 21 and 22. And when he carried the heavier burden his hitting was greatly diminished. But I like the signing considering our catching pipeline. Does make me wonder about having 3 C's on ML contracts. Jeffers, Jackson and now Caratini. Would almost seem to open the door of trading one of Jackson or Jeffers maybe.
  8. 100%. I'd be making deals now if it was me. But what do I know, I'm not the genius Falvey or tough talking Tom.
  9. These guys could still be traded anytime. ST and early season injuries happen. It also could be that better deals could come sooner depending on how the markets go for Tucker, Bichette, Framber and Bellenger go. The losers of those sweepstakes may be more willing to offer a better package when the dust all settles.
  10. Willi Castro two year deal with Colorado. At least those thoughts of him returning can be put to rest.
  11. Not a political response to your question either, but we have a huge problem when you have masked men bearing no badge number harrasing US citizens. Not a clue who these guys even are since they hide behind said masks. I'm 300 miles away from the center of it and going to stay as far away as I can get.
  12. Of course not, Gasper has no value. But trading a player that sucks for another player that sucks keeps you in the same position.
  13. Sure. But I don't get not moving out of the sucky end of the pool. The 60 win team moves continue.
  14. These are the kind of moves that teams who intend to compete for 5th place in the Central make after finishing in 4th place the year prior.
  15. I like Willi and he had a good run here. But this team is so poorly constructed that Willi would only add to that. He really doesn't fit our needs at this point.
  16. In all honesty I would view Joe Ryan as our top asset right now. I think many others would too.. So what does the organization do? They take him to arb court over 500k. If Ober is worth 5.2mil after that lousy season and injury concerns then Joe Ryan is worth 6.35mil. For those who have dreamed of a Ryan extension, forget about it. My guess is Joe will be requesting a trade soon if he already hasn't. Such a well run organization we have here.
  17. Exactly. They agree to pay Ober 5.2mil for a lousy season and uncertainty over health. They file with Joe Ryan for 5.85mil. C'mon Falvey and Pohlad's. If Bailey is worth 5.2 then Joe is worth 6.35 that he's asked for, not 600k more. Nice way to continue to alienate likely your top asset in the organization. My guess is Joe Ryan would more than likely welcome a trade out of here. No way he will ever extend here. An overpay probably won't even do it. Next the team gets to run Joe down in an arb meeting. Dysfunction at it's finest on display.
  18. Joe Ryan is not happy with this organization. I suspect his heart was cut out in July. It showed with his performance. He's not signing a long-term deal here. No way.
  19. No agreement reached with Joe Ryan. I fully sense he's not happy with this organization. Look out Falvey.
  20. Yuck. And why not tell the whole story on Josh Bell? Sure, he's an upgrade offensively over what we had. How hard was that to achieve? But for being a DH/1B he is hardly average, if that. These are positions where you look for far more offense than Josh Bell. And this is our big move. And lets not even discuss his defense. Yuck. The continuing horrible roster construction amazes me.
  21. I'm going to bite at this. 3. The guy we draft at #3 in the upcoming draft. 2. I'll go with Tait. So much riding on him if he comes through and he's young. 1. Gulp. I'm going with Joe Ryan. I sensed in August and September that he really didn't want to be here. We should be trading him to maximize his value. Just my opinions.
  22. Why no Bell on the list? He is our 3rd highest paid active player. Man the depths that this franchise is falling to. But tough talking Tom has us competitive.
  23. I still consider Richardson as no more than a 5th starter. The big reason being those 4.2 IP per start. What is rarely mentioned is the taxation this does to your BP. That is huge. And no many clubs would not covet Richardson in its rotation. I mean look at the Cubs. Horton, Boyd, Imanga, Taillon and today quite possibly Cabrrera from the Marlins. Then in May/June Steele comes back. Not to mention the have Rea who will end up BP. Again with Richardson being our 6th greatest asset shows me how far the fortunes of this organization have fallen. And to be totally honest I don't think Nick is that far off on this one. Going through these rankings is frankly depressing. Competing in 2026? Forget about it. Ha ha Tom.
  24. I'm not advocating trading Jeffers, but the truth is this team isn't competing in 2026. That bus departed awhile back.
