So we traded in July one of the best relievers in the ML's, Duran, for ML ready Abel and Abel will be in AAA. Makes sense.

Falvey has made it clear that Clemens is our 1B. Julien is also in the mix at 1B. Gasper- though he hasn't mentioned him will also play 1B is my bet. I may not trust much of what Falvey says, but when he does bring up things like Clemens playing 1B I usually find it to be the case. Clemens and Julien will be our 1B in 2026 for the most part.

Who wants their wages capped? I don't want mine to be. Broadcast revenue does need to be evenly split among all teams. The books of all of the teams need to be more honest too. I know, right. The rich owners need to tell the ones crying super poor to spend the money they give them. As far as the players go, more money and a better living to those who are toiling in the minors. Much more. If you're a guy making 15mil a season you would have never gotten it were it not for the guys in AA etc who never made it to ML but gave you someone to play against and prove yourself.

I would love to see a Larnach for Steer trade as has been thrown around. Steer looks more versatile and could play LF on occasion too.

This is not a competitive team. The team that finished the 2025 season was a 55 win team. The team that finished the season didn't have Lopez. A full season of Lopez and I'll bump it up to 58. Some improvement by Wallner. 60. Lewis gets somewhere to back on track. 64. Shelton giving improvement over Rocco. 66. Some halfway decent additions to the Pen that pan out. 68-70. No regression from the guys who were performing, Buxton, Jeffers, Ryan, Martin, Lopez when healthy, 68-70. The rest of these guys you cannot count on to be better. imo. This is not a competitive team. Now if everyone of the guys that you can't count on were better that puts us at major league ready's assessment of 75. Staying the course to win optimistically 75 in 2026 only hurts the future years when we just might be better. I guess I fail to see the clamor to keep a 75 win team, at best, together. And lose the potential and value that some pieces truly hold.

You make some good points Mike. The biggest issue is the construction of the roster. It's actually not that Trevor doesn't have value. He's played the game at average play and that does have value. He has greater value than any of the guys mentioned in this article and maybe a couple of others on the team not mentioned here. But the team is constructed in such a poor way that having Trevor on it doesn't make sense. I agree. That however isn't on Trevor himself. it's on those constructing. smh I still believe there's a good chance of him being traded, but who knows. But even so he's actually earned a spot on the team as opposed to some others who will also make the team and shouldn't. If Trevor were near the end of the bench we'd be a WS caliber team.

Unfortunately many of this group will be on the opening day roster and all of them will see playing time on the 2026 team unless some significant changes aren't made. I'm not expecting these significant moves to be honest.

The Scariest Spot on the Twins’ Depth Chart

Yep, guys like Lopez, Ryan, Buxton, Jeffers, etc should have never debuted until they were at least 37-38. Wouldn't want to risk running any never-will-be-youths out there.- 36 replies

People are upset because the team sucks. The ownership sucks. The FO sucks. The player development sucks. I say go younger with the exception of a couple of vet additions who would aid in mentoring and developing the young up and coming guys. 34 years and counting since we've been to the WS. That is why people are upset. Edit: on field manager sucked until 7 weeks ago. The jury is out on the new one of course. We've sucked all the way around. Front, back, middle, above, below. Everywhere in between.

The Scariest Spot on the Twins’ Depth Chart
sweetmusicviola16 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Trading Ryan, Lopez and Jeffers is what I would do. I know the idea isn't popular. This team as constructed isn't competing. Even if they played far above their heads they aren't. The veterans I would sign would be guys who are known for assisting in the growth of younger guys. I see no point in losing the value of the guys you mentioned. Though I would be tempted to hang onto Lopez for just a bit to possibly elevate his value. But this is all just my opinion which isn't worth much.- 36 replies

The Scariest Spot on the Twins’ Depth Chart
sweetmusicviola16 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Take the hit in 2026. Roll with what you already have in house. You have a better chance of finding a diamond in the rough within the organization than you do in taking on retreads. What's the difference if you're a 102 loss team with who we have or a 99 loss team using a retread or two? Carlos Santana was mentioned. I would consider him for the team. For the main reason of that you've just hired another coach for mentoring these guys and helping to develop them. Our future though can't be signing a bunch of vets trying to bounce back. It has to be in developing the players we already have here. Also, they just scaled the payroll back to 95mil or whatever it is, they're not going to go out and spend 45mil this off season and go back to those levels. They just aren't.- 36 replies

3 Non-Tendered Bats the Twins Could Consider
sweetmusicviola16 replied to Nate Palmer's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
imo Lowe is absolutely a "real free agent." He had a bad showing in Washington no doubt. But his 1/4 of a season in Boston were some of the best numbers of his career. This guy I think has plenty left in the tank. But there was no way Boston was going to pay him 13mil this season. I doubt anyone will. But can he find a taker at between 6-8mil? That would be my guestimate at this point in the off-season. Which in all likelihood is beyond being a Twins signing. I don't see a Lowe signing in the Twins future. We sure don't need another OFer though. No. Go with who we have and let them play. Buxton, Larnach, Wallner, Martin, Roden, Gonzalez, Rodriguez, Mendez, Jenkins. We have plenty of OFer's.- 36 replies

I'd prefer taking two guys in the Rule 5. A RP in round 1 and one of these guys in round 2. This is what teams in the Twins position do.

Yeah we got a backup catcher when with Jeffers we need a tandem catcher. Jackson is a backup. As for Vazquez and the trade I've said all along that the swap they made is a good swap. I for one have never advocated for bringing Vazquez back. But as for Vazquez's salary for 2026 it would surprise me if he can find anyone to give him over 3mil. A low non guaranteed with a ST invite is more likely. He may well get less than the 1.8 that Jackson will be playing for.

Why Falvey Should Step Down- Continued
sweetmusicviola16 commented on Doctor Gast's blog entry in Doctor Gast's Blog
I contend that we have went backwards even further in the catching department in the past two months. Vazquez is out and Jackson is in. Vazquez knew how to work with a pitching staff and has proven over and over again that he is up to the task of being in tandem at the ML level. His hitting is typical for a catcher. Jackson has yet to prove that he is up to the task in any department yet here he is in a tandem catching role. Aside from a 10 day stretch he has been awful. Mistake after mistake happening right before our eyes. Twins are a poorer team than even the hapless bunch from the last half of the season was. -
I agree 4mil is hardly prohibiting other moves at this point. Lets throw out 100mil as a budget number, for easy sake. Without Larnach we could have a budget of 97mil. Would having a lower budget number make anyone on here happy? They spent money and now we don't like how it was spent. But I get we all have opinions and mine has changed just a bit on this move.

On this team he's better than half of the candidates we have to make the team. He's not a superstar. 4 years ago we might have had that hope for him. But he's not. But by being average he's better than 5-7 other guys who will likely make this team. If we had 4 or 5 more average players we might actually be close to a PO team. Look at this deal as a cut off of the bottom.

In looking at the tendering of Larnach I'll choose to have a positive view this morning. He still could be traded. But he is a league average hitter for say 4mil. That's not a bad deal. We have a new manager and coaches who maybe just maybe could get more out of him. Is he keeping Gonzalez, etc off the team? With a new manager in place I'm hopeful not. But is he keeping a a Mickey Gasper type off of the team? Quite likely. Who would I rather have Larnach or Gasper? Not even a choice. Also with a new Manager I'm hopeful that if he is struggling at .180 through May that he won't be playing. So with my view today I'm fine with having Larnach on the team for another season. It's not like this team has an abundance of league average hitters is it? Who would we rather have on the team? A .130 hitting player making minimum or a guy hitting .240 with 17HR making 4mil? We want the team to spend money and they just did. If we base a players salary on WAR and the consensus is 1 WAR is worth 8mil then Trevor is costing us half of that. Not a terrible deal actually. And he still could be traded, but if not this is not a killer deal for one year.

You actually omitted the now tendered Larnach. Don't we carry 14 players or am I wrong? Regardless this is not a good team at all. Maybe Falvey is waiting for Buxton to ask out before he tears what's left apart.

I didn't realize the 40 man was set. I feel that this is a mistake by them. The most you'd lose by getting a look at another prospect would have been 50k. I don't get it. You don't find a Santana if you don't look for him.
