Yet at this moment we are still left with Gasper, Kreiller, Julien and Outman. Meet your 2026 Minnesota Twins. Lawyerson could have helped this team. Considering his background, and many others like him, he's at a point where he could become a viable piece in an ML bullpen.

Yep, and Gasper, Kreiler and Julien still on the team. There, I just told you who 3 important members of Shelton's crew for 2026 will be. Shelton will be reminiscing about the good old days in Pittsburgh by the time July rolls around.

No way the Twins spend 10-13mil on an FA this off season. Big splash will be a C in the 2-4mil range, lower end more likely.

you forgot to mention that Falvey will leave you with paying a 25% tip. Based on Derek's appearance now a days, he can put it away too.

Perhaps if Falvey was given the opportunity to go home for a few months and learn what he needs to do differently would also be beneficial for him. I'm game to give it a try. Perhaps he could learn that he's not the smartest man in the room every time.

I would add Keaschell to the mix as well, he's actually played a few games at 1B in the past. Then we do still have Clemens. If Keaschell was given more time at 1B and less at 2B we have a 2B on roster already to fill in that gap. Martin. I agree, stop looking for the stopgap and develop what you already have. The result of not seeing what you already have is you never stop looking.

The Giants do not have the bullets to pull this deal off on their own. What is proposed here won't do it, and if the Giants aren't in a position to offer the best they have then they are out. Unless Falvey caves in and does something really stupid. This doesn't mean the Giants couldn't acquire Ryan. It just means they need multiple teams involved in one way or another to get it done. I'm in favor of trading Ryan now. We have him for two more seasons on a bad team. We don't have an owner who will extend him beyond his time here or an owner who will look to build a highly competitive team around Ryan before he leaves. But in trading Ryan we have to get it right and a trade with the Giants alone will not do it. It will take immense creativity to get the maximum out of Ryan. Unfortunately we have Falvey being part of the creativity.

This 100%. It's a scenario that's been rolling around in my head too. People are very attached to Jeffers, but this 2026 Twins team does not look competitive. They should be looking at every angle to improve the team moving forward. Cash out on the return for Jeffers who will be gone after the season. Sign a veteran replacement who also has the potential to return a prospect in July. Like it or not, call it what you want, but this is a rebuild and this is what rebuilds do. A guy like Caratini fits the bill, then you also need a second C to team with him.

Oh I don't believe for a moment that they lost 40mil. But it however is the public stance that they have taken. And that isn't changing. Edit: They may have lost 40mil somewhere, but I don't for a minute believe it was on the Twins.

I know if I were Joe Ryan, I would be having my agent suggesting that a trade to a larger market team be worked out. I would want to be somewhere for the next year or two where a logical long-term extension could be worked out. That isn't a possibility here imo.

The team that we have at present is a 55 win team. With some improvement maybe they win over 60. Maybe. The team that won 70 games last season is gone. It doesn't exist. Some deals will be made. Last seasons payroll was 135mil. This team's payroll is already at 95mil. Some deals will be made. The team let out that they lost 40 mil this year. They aren't going to go out and spend 40mil so they can win 75-80 games, maybe. It would be dereliction of duties for the FO not to use the assets on hand not to improve the future of the club. Deals have to be made. I too don't like that Falvey is still in charge. But he is. In the meantime he needs to continue to operate as any FO head would, which is to look at how he can put this organization in the best position moving forward. I would be very surprised not to see Jeffers and Lopez moved by the end of the upcoming winter meetings. 50-50 Ryan is moved this off season. I concur with others, 2027 is not going to be a not season totally. I'm personally fine with taking the hit in 2026 of a bad season. I could care less if we win 55 or we win 70. But play the cards right and in 2028 and 2029 we could actually be relevant again. And though I desire Falvey to be gone I can still see that he has made good trades. Getting Duran, Ryan and Pablo Lopez in trades and signing Santana and Bader too as FA's.

Nothing against any of these guys, but call me skeptical that they will open up the Treasury to sign anyone of significance. I rather expect it to go the other way myself. They've put out word that they're losing 40 million this year. I believe that leak had strategy behind it.

The hiring of Shelton is what it is. No article telling us that his tenure in Pittsburgh was acceptable will change the mood of Twins Territory. Nothing that transpired in October, Baldelli fired, Shelton hired, Falvey remains, changes the mood. Target Field attendance being a percentage of what it once was is witness to the mood of fans. It is what it is.

So Skenes developed into a star under Shelton. What about the long list of prospects that failed to under him? If we're going to start out the article lauding his reputation for player development then lets have the full disclosure. I hope he has some kind of formula that he works here, but the history doesn't back it up.

This is important to note. We are relying heavily on the progression of young players on the roster and of prospects still in the minors. So who did we hire? A guy who under his watch as manager of the Pirates saw these type of players develop very poorly. This shouldn't have been ignored. I don't hold Shelton's record in Pittsburgh against him, many others have failed there as well. But prospects not developing upon being called up is a very concerning sign.

Takes I've gotten from those who watched Pirates are, hustle by players was poor, losing was acceptable and fundamentals were poor on the team. He wasn't one for challenging Bob Nutting either. Falvey got the guy he wanted.

Pittsburgh fans have little good to say of what Shelton brought to their team. This confirms my lack of hope for the future of the Twins. Fire Falvey.

Falvey doesn't need to win. He doesn't need to have 30,000 fans in the seats at each game either.

Road to a Rebound: Matt Wallner
sweetmusicviola16 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I want to see legitimate ML defense in the field. Wallner isn't it. Get him to DH in 2026. We need a true power threat in the lineup so he serves a purpose. A trade can be pursued or listened on too. No on trying to make a 1B out of him. -
imo, BBTV is a fantasy League baseball tool. It's not a real life tool. It is fun and I compared trades when it was free. Enjoyed it. As for Ryan now is the time to deal him. His value will not be higher next off season, it will be significantly lower. His peak value was likely in July actually. Having a Cy Young type of season. To me you get the best prospects possible that will fit into your competitive window. That also means that you have to finish off developing them.
