I greatly disagree with the statement that Houstons biggest accomplishment was exceeding expectations. He had a great season. Simple as that. Houston having a flashy slugging % should not be used to grade him either. He hit the ball this season. Fielded the ball. That's exactly what he needs to do. Houston gets my vote for Twins milb player of the year.

This is my take as well. Don't hamstring this team with long-term contracts for the current FA's who really aren't that good. Take on somebodies vets that have one or two years remaining on a contract that wants to shed some payroll. I sense that this team could be very good by the end of 2028. That might be the time to shop the upper tiers of FA for a splash or two. Not now imo.

I agree, this isn't the FA class to spend big on. This was known July of 2025 when the rebuild started. Should have finished the rebuild right. Traded Ryan and Jeffers Lopez when the value was there to add pieces that would help us more in 2028 and beyond rather then trying to act like we were contenders in 2026. We shouldn't saddle the 28 and 29 teams with big contracts for mediocre players. Lets let the young core we have on hand grow in 27 and then we can add some missing pieces.

Trade Trevor now or non tender him. But hey Tom has to spend somewhere it could be he deems it wise to spend 6.5mil on him.

I'm an Ober fan. When he was quite dominant and even now when he's not. But it is time to see more of Matthews, Prielipp, Festa, Abel and Rojas. Even if they fail or get injured. So imo it is time to move on from Bailey. I could care less what he would get paid. Tom's got lots of money. It's about getting these younger guys into pitch. What was the point of trading Duran and Varland if you don't use what they brought us?

This all of the way. This team as it is built is not even close to competing for anything other than 4th or 5th place in the division. I'm not even looking at 2027 personally as being able to get there. Matthews, Bradley, Prielipp, Jenkins, Cullpepper, Rodriguez, Keaschell need to grow and go through a few more growing pains. Add to them for when they do reach maturity. Then we might be able to compete with the CWS who will likely be good for awhile. With the young players in mind is why we needed to get max value out of Ryan and Jeffers. But they blew this chance.

At this point I'd prefer we move on from Larnach, Ober and Lewis. Would prefer to see the next generation have oppurtunity even if they fail. Would prefer to see upgrades over Sands, Banda and Nance. Bradley, Ryan and Clemens are givens. A 77 win team should expect to see some cuts of its roster.

Tom alluded to that they were going to go on a spending spree this off season. He didn't say how or who they would spend on. These might be the who and how. Tom brings them all back. lol

You probably made a typo or something, but Hill is a Jay. Taking 3.75 mil from a team when you trade for a guy at the deadline causes you to have to up the anty to a Hill type. Ahem Tom.

My take, I personally enjoy watching a guy that has learned the art of pitching. Not just ramping it up and throwing the ball as hard as he can. Bailey is doing this. As far as tendering or not it comes down to do you have confidence in who is already on the team or in the system to replace his IP? Or do you have a potential trading partner who will trade you someone who can fill another need? If the answers to the first are yes then non tender and keep the lines open to a potential FA signing at a lower price. As far as needing Bailey Ober to win in 2027 as this team stands right now that isn't an issue. This team isn't at the point of winning yet. imo. As far as what to do I would non tender. I like Ober but I'd rather see the youngsters have more oppurtunity to play since I don't see the Twins as competitive in 2027.

The haul for Ryan has already been lost. I personally have no opinion on whether we trade him or not now. Tolle and Arias, gone.

I have no idea if Maki was a problem or if another guy will do better. No idea. But I am quite certain that improved defense will help whoever is the pitching coach. Very certain of that.

Either way this 2027 Twins team should not go on a foolish spending spree. If there was any chance of that happening. This team needs to grow and develop and when it is closer to ready then by all mean up the spending significantly.

People can believe whatever they want. I could care less. But what proved to me that Tom is a Pohlad is the deadline deal for Hoffman with the Jays. The Twins had the Jays pay 3.75 mil of salary. We all know that when significant cash is included in a deal the prospect anty goes up. This is the way of the Pohlads. When I stop seeing this way of doing business then I can evaluate if anything has changed.

The teams that you mentioned have made a habit of trading away established players and gaining back great value, not trading for. Management needed to realize that 2026 was not the year and make moves like these other organizations have. They blew this chance. By blowing this they miss the chance not only at how long the next group will be good but in how good they could have been. For a 77 win season. Count me as one of the few who is not in favor of getting in a bidding war for Jeffers for his longtime service. Yes he's a fine player. But the short-term benefit will not likely outweigh the long-term cost.

Clemens actually gets my vote for the Twins MVP this season. Bell would be my 2nd and Jeffers 3rd.

I would like to see Zoll removed and sent packing. He's not an answer. His regime is 48 games below .500 over the last 6 seasons. But do we replace him with someone else the Pohlad's choose? This ownership has 4 PO seasons out of the past 16. These are the two main issues the franchise is facing.

I have heard suggestions that the Twins try to make a RP FA splash this offseason. Guess what they already have made their big FA signing. Who is that? Hoffman. I hope he does well in 2027. But this is the guy we get in FA. Also, I would have traded Gomez at this years deadline too. It was nice pretending but when you wake up it's time to face reality.

In answer to the question of did the Twins trade away there PO spot in 2026 with the trades of Duran and Varland, the answer is nobody knows. We can conjecture. Would these two guys have enhanced the chances of making the 2026 PO's? Sure they would have. I think the greater question to be asked though is why didn't the Twins continue with the rebuild that they started in July of 2025? They squandered the value of Ryan, big-time. And Lopez and Jeffers and possibly even Buxton. The reported package for Ryan alone from Boston would have set this team ahead 3 steps instead of it running in place, All so we could be a 76 or 77 win team in 2026. I don't understand this philosophy or that of fans that gladly accept a 76 or 77 win team. From my perspective the most good that has come out of 2026 is finally seeing what we have in Cullpepper, Jenkins and Rodriguez.

All Ober has done in 2026 is be the Twins 2nd or 3rd best pitcher. One could even argue the 2nd best ahead of Ryan who had a dramatic second half fade. So we want to get rid of him, even non tender. I'm not concerned about spending 7 mil on him. Hold this team to spending more not let them get a free pass and spend less. Ober has learned to get people out with diminished stuff. That has value. Getting a K isn't the only way to pitch.
