    None of these 3 players are make or break imo. Roden wasn't included in the Varland deal to be discarded after 40 or whatever AB's. SWR I could see potentially being traded if we don't trade someone else, Lopez Ryan Ober. I too would like to see a switch to relief explored. Lewis isn't being dumped. I could see if a high return was offered it would be considered. But Lewis still has many chances ahead of him. I'm with others, don't like some of his ways. He cut down Kyle Schwarber in a comment this spring and that wasn't professional at all. Too much about Royce if you ask me. Frankly he's stunk for over a year now. Let your play talk.

    Joe Mauer found out too. Instead of being surrounded by players who he could contend for a championship with he got Jamey Carroll, Kevin Correa, Mike Pelfrey etc. Nope. No tearing it down and no going all in for a title. We have history to tell us the direction of the Pohlads.

    Pohlad's are still the principle owners. Falvey is still heading the FO. And Rocco is still the Manager. All of that info tells us pretty much all that we need to know. We have the history to go by. They won't tear it down all the way to the studs and they won't go all in to build a championship caliber team. Correa found this out while he was here and we should know this as longtime fans. They'll continue to "hope" that every prospect succeeds and supplement them with over priced lower tier veterans. These over priced vets will continue to get favored over the younger players who they spent years telling us were our future. This is what they have done for years. Why would that change now?

    I think many of us Twins fans have checked out. I'm one of them. I'm still a fan, but something is different. I've been following since the very late 70's. Been through some lows. Maybe none was lower than the strike year of 81. But as bad as that team was I to this day didn't feel as if they were intentionally losing. This team of August 2025? I'm not so sure that isn't the case. The players no. But management.......

    Though I didn't enjoy deadline day I actually had a ton of hope that day. But with the news since that day that the Pohlad's would retain control and Rocco would return and Falvey will be continuing, that hope is completely gone. I continue to check in only because it's something to do. I don't look forward to the "hope" that we'll be "competitive", meaning we are asked to get excited about a 83-79 team that can compete in a weak division in the "competitive" seasons. I want more. I want legitimate WS teams to be built. This regime has proven they aren't up to that task.

    Looks like a humdinger of a game right now. I'm on the edge of my seat.

    They can't hit. They can't field. They don't excel at fundamentals. They have an awful bullpen relief corps. And right now starting pitching is not dominant. Matthews and Festa have only showed they can pitch to a 5.00 ERA at this point. Richardson is not even a 5 inning pitcher. I fail to see how this is a competitive team. Unless you consider competing for 5th place competitive.

    This team not too big into hitting the baseball. Don't they realize that's one of the key elements of the game? Along with fielding and catching the ball, which they're also not too good at. We won't mention base running and moving runners over, which you have to get on base to do that. Falvey built this team and hired Rocco to manage it. It's on them.

    Yup. The C FA's upcoming are not good to say the least. Best option for C's is Jeffers, and he doesn't actually improve the team since he's already one of us. Not holding my breath that he will resign here. Not to mention does he fit in the budget. Other than the standard upcoming arb increases I just don't see us spending. Aside from the 5-6mil vets, most of whom should be avoided.

    imo it is going to take at least 6 years and at or near 200mil to resign Joe Ryan, Joe Pohlad remaining principle owner is not going to do that. Who are we kidding? With him as the owner and Falvey as the head of the FO big spending is not on the horizon.

    Gasper is not the answer to any question. The FA crop at C is not strong for the next two seasons. They'll have to make do with whoever they can get and hope that they guess right. Hopefully Falvey will be gone soon. Catching is a major area of his tenures failure.

    Doc, now that I look at it from the perspective of creativity, no they didn't get as much as they could for Castro, Bader and Coloumbe. By adding cash they would heave gotten more. But now out of the blue this team is 400mil in debt and losing 40mil this season. I cry foul to that. This is a bunch of hooey that the Pohlad family is putting forth so that they will have an excuse for letting players leave and not signing better players either. I think a new owner is only a rumor. Just like I think the publicized debt is a falsehood. I don't like being lied to. 400mil of debt doesn't accrue overnight. Why was this not known a year ago? Because now the owners want to play poorball. Yeah my optimism is waning very low.

    The Paddack trade is probably the one of those 4 deals that I most had a problem with. Nothing against Jimenez himself, but when they attached Dobnak to Paddack that's where my issue comes in. By saving 2.3 mil they just decreased the value coming back to the Twins. If long-term was any concern to them they would attempt to bring back more and better talent. Not save present dollars. Very likely with any of the trades they made had they paid this seasons salary and covered for the other teams added overage on the salary cap they could have likely got a better return for the future. Isn't it Falvey himself that said they need to be creative? This entire regime is more concerned about short-term cash savings than they are about the long-term benefits.

    I'm fine with the returns of the trades for the soon to be FA's. One can argue we should have done better but those trades are what you expect. But the trades of Varland, Jax, Duran and to a lesser degree Stewart, should have blown us away as you say. None of them do. I agree, Falvey should not be the one dealing these guys. Fire him. The longer he stays running the Twins FO the more my optimism wanes.

    I'm not so sure they were operating at a loss. I have heard that they borrowed against the team to payoff bad real estate deals. Why would they have even signed Correa to his large contract if they were losing money? It was also reported that they will lose 40 mil this season. 40 mil in two years doesn't add up to 400 mil. Pohlad's been dipping where they shouldn't be. New regime maybe don't know business too well.

    They claimed Brooks Kriske today. So it would only be natural that they pick Alcala back up. Rumor has it they want to bring Pressley back as well.

    I would agree with you on Rojas, unless he's Doc Gooden. Which he's probably not since the IP's you cited would say as much.

    I agree it will not be easy, but I will stand by that doing the needed stuff to build towards being a great team is much better than staying a 78-84 win team. That imo is truly sucky baseball. But I will leave it at this: Falvey is not the guy to be doing this. He should be dismissed to say it kindly. Or to put it in other words, FIRED. Now would be better than at seasons end. But I'm hopeful that he will be. That won't happen though unless we get the new owner is my guess. If he is still leading the FO in November my optimism will be gone.

    This is how I also expect the pitching to pan out. I think Ober is the one who will be retained with the hope that he will bounce back to some of his pre 2025 form and have decent value at 2026 trade deadline. Bradley will be high in the rotation order for 2026. They didn't acquire him to sit in AAA. Abel unseats the poorest of Matthews, Festa and SWR. My prediction would be SWR. Who will be a future trade candidate himself even. But once this happens this rotation will take some hard lumps for a couple of seasons until the lineup gets built up. I honestly don't see Jeffers in a Twins uniform in 2026. Or Larnach. My belief is it will get uglier before it gets better. New ownership or not.

    The A's got a better package. I for one would have been a whole lot more pleased with last weeks happenings if we would have gotten that deal. But as for the tear down, rebuild, build, whatever it is it is necessary. We can be a 78-84 win team for the next 5 years or we can suck for a couple and be a 95 win or more team in 3-4 years. That's an easy choice for me. But,as far as I'm concerned Falvey is not the guy to get it done. Lastly, unlike what I continue to hear, the Twins will not be using the Correa savings to sign better players. That's my honest opinion. I also believe Lopez will be moved to shed more payroll and Ryan should be moved to capitalize on his high value.

    yep I agree. Problem for Trevor is he's going into 2nd year of arb and making 2.1 this year so arb will dictate a decent raise. MN will likely want to non tender and yeah probably won't be too many lookers out there. Sometimes arb prices don't work in a players favor.

    Wallner might be back because he'll be cheap and rebuilders need bodies, but he needs to start hitting yes. Larnach's time here is very short. He's likely a 4 mil player next season so not so cheap. He's gone one way or another imo.

    And if he's nothing more than a body to fill a roster spot this season and next you find that out. But teams in rebuilds need bodies. In all fairness some of the guys on that 82 team were awful too. But the cream rose to the top and that's what the next year or two will show here as well.
