Solid first start by Ryan. This team has lacked a personality for years now, aside from 6-7 weeks at the end of 2023. Poorly constructed. We'll win some this year but I don't see this team as a contender. Will be in that 76-82 win area. Way to go Gasper.

It is pretty much a consensus that Vazquez is overpaid, he's a part-time player. Jeffers is also a part time player. Nothing suggests that he won't continue to be one. He's only getting older. As a part time player we can't be paying him as the top full time players are. I'd be ok with extending him, but not for 12 mil plus. 9mil tops is all I'd do and that is still a slight overpay. If over paying one part time player has been adverse why go down that same road again so soon?

Dobnak was rostered for the sole purpose of shuttling other players across town to St.Paul. Nobody better suited to do so. He'll only pitch on his days off.

Yes. If he is still healthy June 01 and has pitched at a #4 SP level we should absolutely be moving him. That gets Festa, Matthews, etc two months of seasoning and we get a prospect. The better Paddack pitches probably the better the prospect, and it only costs the acquiring team 5mil by then.

I am not generally a proponent of having prospects linger or languish in the minors but Keaschall absolutely should spend 2025 down learning and refining 2B. He's been injured and greatly lacks experience at 2B. Rushing him on either the experience front or injury front could easily ruin him. If we are in dire straits for an IF then we need to make a trade. Not rush Keaschall.

That would be good if a deal happens. Though not ready it would be nice to keep him around for future use. From what his spring has looked like I'm glad he's not breaking camp with the team.

So Topa hasn't overly impressed in ST, but he is presently healthy?

Yikes, thanks for the update. Injuries. Whether it seems so or not this isn't just a Twins issue. The past 3-5 years all across MLB injuries have swelled. Especially when it comes to pitchers. Might be time for MLB to investigate the root causes. For one thing the human body wasn't made to throw a ball 102 mph. Just isn't.

It is likely that Castro will end up looking like the dreg he looked like in Aug-Sept if he is used as a primary player in everyday use at 2B. His strength is being a utility player who comes in as a defensive replacement. Play him to his strength. Making him the primary anything will decrease his strengths.

I agree, one thing you failed to mention though is now we will be pushing Castro beyond his limits into everyday duty again and he will lose his edge. No the Twins don't learn. I concur in having Martin at St.Paul as a primary 2B. It is the position he seems to fit most naturally. If he does fail then we know. Pushing him into the OF will only decrease his chances of success.

I too am rooting for Kiersey. He's done what's asked of him over the past 3-4 seasons to earn an opportunity. I haven't given up on Martin. Hopefully he brings his game up in St.Paul. I'm not ready to discard him anyway.

An IF of Miranda, Correa, Julien and France does not bode well for limiting runs. The wheels could fall off very quickly. Don't understand Martin not getting any PT at 2B. Like him or not he's the better choice at 2B than anyone else that we have. He seems to me as just an extra part in the OF.

Lee right now is the best 3B we have who is MLB ready. Period. He has a lot to prove with the bat, at 3B he does need to be able to hit. And he too needs to be able to stay healthy, hopefully his back is fully healed and responds. Lewis? I honestly don't know where he goes from here. We have a lot of problems with our infield. Beyond Correa, and his health. Maybe some of our IF mess will work its way out in 2025. Let's hope so.

It is certainly understandable to be optimistic, but what makes the Twins the favorites of the Central? We feasted on weak teams in 2024 and were awful against the good ones. How was this fixed in the off-season. No difference maker was acquired. The main pieces switched out were, Santana gone and France in. Huge dropoff. Kepler gone and Bader in. This is a push imo. Kepler offers more offensively and Bader more on D. But Kepler is not a bad fielder. We are relying on guys like Lee and Larnach to be improved. Buxton and Correa to all of a sudden play 130-140 games. Lewis is already out. Do we see the 1st half AS in Castro or the second half dreg? My optimism is hoping we can win 82 games again. Maybe all of the questions turn in our favor, but until then they are still questions.

On the other hand it begs the question of why we'd trade Lewis for a couple of prospects, which is a good chance what he'd bring in trade? I guess I'd rather have Royce Lewis even if it is for only 60-70 games a year than a couple of prospects who won't be top 10 type. You trade Royce now you are not trading high that's for sure. But I get it, it's frustrating for everyone.

I would like to see a return to pitchers throwing 85mph. For various reasons. I'd also like to see the return of the Hough's, Niekro bros, and Candoitti and Dickey. Nothing more entertaining than watching Hough mystify batters. But for now the arm injuries will only continue as the human body can't stand up to this rigor. Unless your name was Nolan Ryan.

I get it. There would be 31 teams lined up to deal, but I highly think the return would be very underwhelming. I'm of the camp to stay the course with Royce. Use him when you can cuz I don't think anyone is going to give much back. Why would anyone part with a good package for a guy who doesn't stay on the field?
-
I would agree Doctor. Now with the latest injury to Lewis that would make Lee the best answer to 3B, he's our best 3B anyway but this solidifies Lee's need at 3B. Miranda should be used at 1B. The only way to grow there for him is to actually play. Willi Castro backs up Correa at SS. Leads us to 2B. Martin can play the position. Get him out of the OF. Castro backs up in OF and now they have Bader. Julien is not to be used at 2B.
