  1. Oh boy. Along with whatever regular happens to be struggling at the time too.
  2. I think blowing is an apt way to put this spending spree.
  3. So we're told all off season that there is no money to spend. But then when the list is mostly picked over we sign the usual veteran retreads. Instead of making a solid impact signing that would have maybe actually made a difference in our talent level. I don't get it.
  4. This is precisely why no to Julen at 1B. You take a younger player who is now overwhelmed at the plate already and then throw him at a position that he has next to zero time at who is not known for his glove work anyway. It's not difficult to see how this will end.
  5. Miranda yes. Julien no. Please not Julien, needs to prove himself. The remaining available FA's no. Internal option or a fair trade yes. I know a trade will bring out 1,000 opinions on this board, but I really don't want Julien or a washed up veteran FA at 1B.
  6. What difference is there between Bader and "the expensive Margot?" The expensive Margot was cheaper than Bader. lol
  7. Rizzo is finished. No. But it's not my money so why should I care? But the quality of players and the team affects what interest and money I will put into the team.
  8. My take, you don't need an elite glove in the corner. An adequate glove suffices. But your corner guys need to hit. Bader doesn't provide that. If you want Bader to backup Buxton and provide insurance to him fine. If you want to pay out 6-8mil for that fine. But if Bader is being platooned with Larnach and Wallner then he will be Margot 2.0. That is stupid. Everybody on the continent knows that corner outfielders need to be able to hit first and foremost.
  9. "But we were great until the August collapse." Not really. We feasted upon bad teams. So, yeah we were better than the terribly bad. But no one was held responsible for the collapse, except the hitting coach. And he was great too as long as we were playing bad teams. 2) is very true. The good teams revealed just how bad the team was constructed. Nothing was rectified either, except it will be Bader playing LF and RF this season instead of Margot.
  10. With the guys we have, Buxton should be shifted to LF. He's not getting younger. He's been fragile. You now have a CF in Bader, but he should not be a corner guy with that bat. Keirsey gets an oppurtunity to back up CF and can also pick up a rare game in the COF. Larnach gets shifted to sharing 1B with Miranda and also picks up some time in OF. Willi can continue to play around the diamond. He doesn't need to be used at 1B and should be used less than 2024. But imo moving Buxton to LF is crucial at this point and Bader should not be used as Margot 2.0. That has stupid written all over it.
  11. I like the idea of Larnach being slid over to 1B. He's not a good LF tbh. With that in mind slide Buxton over to LF. It may help his durability, who knows. And keeps him out of DH where he has struggled. Then a light hitting Bader can be the primary CF. If Bader were the main CF it makes his signing much more valuable. These moves do then increase our defense immensly without more devaluation of the offense.
  12. I agree as well on the importance of defense and this team greatly lacks it in various areas. CF defense is very important. . But some bat at that position is needed as well. We'll switch to Bader. As a backup CF he would be a great pickup. But that won't be the case, a backup CF. Margot was acquired as the backup CF for 2024. What happened? 54 starts in COF and 14 starts in CF. Sadly the same experiment will play out in 2025. Wallner a legitimate RF will sit while Bader plays a position he has no business being at. Wallner will suffer. The team will suffer and Keirsey will suffer.
  13. I couldn't help but notice the scrabble pieces. Yesterday our dog ate two hole bags of Scrabble tiles. Today we are still waiting on word from the vet.
  14. Absolutely on Eeles. Count me as a fan. But unfortunately, if you don't have the high pedigree with this team you don't get much of a chance. That's just what history has shown.
  15. I'm going with Ronny Henriquez. Or, hate to say it Keirsey. Headrick for now has the lefty factor. I'm sticking with my hunch that they believe greatly in Gasper. He makes the ML team out of ST.
  16. Thanks. For cash. lol Edit: Helman not only got pushed to the back of the line he got dumped. Well now we know that he can't play. I wish him well and Thanks for his efforts.
  17. You have a good point. They may also be gun shy the same way with trading when the Mahle, Paddack trades didn't work as hoped. I support those deals even though they didn't. But as I said, Falvey era has seen some really good things. But this continual signing of vets, cheap, but overpaying for them is a bad continuation of the Ryan years. It rarely worked then and still rarely does. I know this won't be popular but Ryan was a good baseball guy. Did some good things. But he never went out and got the finishing pieces. Sign an older vet. Over and over again. Now we do the same things. I would have liked to of seen a risk taken this off-season, I think a fairly safe risk. Sign HaSeong Kim. He was the one FA going into the off-season that I saw as something affordable and who would have maybe been a difference maker for this team. DeJong, please no.
  18. Falvey has had some good moments and done some really good things. But this propensity to spend 25 mil a year on used up vets instead of spending that extra amount on a really good player does need to stop. It doesn't work most times. Sign another guy every season who has a legitimate chance to do something significant and let your cheaper homegrown minor league options fill in the gaps. It's win win. By doing this you've also found which of those milb kids are actually players. But we'll never find out if Keirsey or Hellman or Eeles could have been solid role players, or more even, because they always get pushed to the back of the line by a 6mil vet that we hope has a bounce back campaign.
  19. This team appears to do everything they can to stand in the way of its prospects. As a reward to them lets sign Bader. Lets sign DeJong. You can play in St.Paul with no real chance of advancing because we prefer to sign a used up veteran for large dollars that we will play no matter how well or poorly they perform. All the while the team shoots for being competitive instead of great therefore demoralizing the best players that we already have.
  20. It would certainly look good to get a TOR in Cease. But this team needs offense much more than any Pitcher. Who's going to replace Larnach and Castro? How many black holes can this team employ? Seattle is proving that you need some better hitters to go along with great pitching in order to be a PO team.
  21. If Castro is traded and replaced by either of these guys that is sickening. Sign Bader. Trade Castro. Sign DeJong. You just took three steps backwards in one fell swoop. Enough damage has been done already with the first move of Bader. Stop tinkering with poor fringe moves.
  22. I see Ober as a legitimate CY candidate this year.
