Interesting comments and we all feel frustration and let down.  Lewis looked so good when he came up, but we have been a team torn between Buxton on the field off the field, Correa injured or playing injured and we need the stars on the field.

I had to jump over Julien, but I think I would go for Keaschall and some hope for the future.

Brock Stewart is another star crossed star - so sorry and Canterino looks like he is on the Kiriloff track.  So much potential lost to injuries.  This is one of the reasons I would trade Paddack while he looks good.

Such a sad report.

Hope he makes it back by June, stays relatively healthy and then trade him either at the deadline or next off-season. That's all you can do. There's no way they can keep him long-term.

The Twins are going to do whatever they want to do. Our guesses are futile. An infield of France, Gasper, Miranda, and Correa wouldn't surprise me but it would give the pitchers nightmares. Willi Castro is best as a utility player. His defense is suspect except at third base, where Brooks Lee is ok. Gasper is a last gasp. Lee has good hands, footwork, transfers the ball smoothly, and throws the ball to the target but his range is limited. Miranda is tough at first, worse at third, but if he his enough he might not hurt too bad. France is a darling until he isn't. Man, he looks rough at first base. The Lewis injury creates angst because he was inked into the lineup. Lewis isn't very good at third base as we saw in the first inning today, but we had hope.

I'm going to guess the Twins go with France, Julien, Castro, and Correa. Hopefully the Twins hit.

Last year he made it all the way to game 1. This year he didn't even make it to the opener. Maybe Lewis should be told to jog to 1st and DH only since he can't sprint without injuring himself.

Time to look for a trade partner unfortunately. You can't have a starting third baseman and middle of the lineup bat who only plays 2-3 months a year :(

I get it. There would be 31 teams lined up to deal, but I highly think the return would be very underwhelming. I'm of the camp to stay the course with Royce. Use him when you can cuz I don't think anyone is going to give much back. Why would anyone part with a good package for a guy who doesn't stay on the field?

It is strange to see people saying to trade Lewis because he's had injuries.  I mean, is there a team out there giving away high-end prospects for injured players?  Some owner screaming that there aren't enough guys on the 60-day IL?  It's just goofy talk.

I met Lewis at spring training last week.  A really decent guy, like an actual good person.  I hope the injury is minor and he heals well.

If we want to compete in the postseason, we need Lewis. His soft-tissue injuries are not uncommon after surgeries. IMO they should decrease in severity & frequency. IMO trading Lewis is senseless talk. He'll recover & hopefully Baldelli is able to take us to the postseason where anything can happen,

I think Lee will play more at 2B than Julien will.  Hopefully Lee can settle in there for the long term. The Twins will find a place for Keashall, if he hits at AAA this year. Probably DH for 2025, due to his Tommy John surgery.

I would have taken Hunter Greene. I know, he had a Tommy John. I still liked Hunter. Still do. I like Royce, too, and he gave us some great excitement in 2023. Hunter will be the ace that Twins fans like to pretend Lopez is. In this business, where players are ultimately assets instead of people to the Administration (sure, they like to put up the front that they really care, do the PR and all, but will dump or trade you in a heartbeat in the end), that is why most teams are a team of strangers, these days, to their teammates and the fans, mixed together because of high dollar or low dollar acqusition costs). Bigger, stronger, faster, etc etc, the best players ever..... .220 is a great hitter now and .330 is not. It is a real shame for Lewis, and I really feel for him. He gets hurt just running, 9-10 steps out of the box. This team is built on the top 3 players who have proven over and over that they can't stay on the field. ST can be such a curse.... don't even bring up the WBC. This won't be the only guy that doesn't make it to the start of the season. Yoga yoga yoga. Weights without double flexibility will ruin you. It is always amazing to me that a player hurts himself just running, when they are "the best athletes that ever played the game" (and some in "the best bullpen in MLB"!). And Lewis' goal was to play as many games as possible. He will be lucky to make 100.

This team is comical at best. Had Rocco only rested him today he wouldn't have gotten hurt. But wait, he didn't play yesterday so he should have been well rested. According to Rocco rest prevents injuries so what happened?  I've never seen so many players get hurt just playing a game, running or swinging a bat as the Twins have. It's just a matter of time before Buck joins him on the DL. Do these guys even prep themselves with the necessary stretching and conditioning before a game? It's a joke. Sorry, but at this point all I can do is laugh.

They've changed lead trainers at least once, I think twice.  Really expected some improvement in this facet by now.

Rocco just needs to Get Tough.  "Next guy who fails to stretch before the game and pulls a quad or pulls a hamstring is running laps!"  😀

Maybe put a treadmill next to the dugout steps that a hitter has to use for 2 mins before hitting the on-deck circle. I just can't see pulling a hammy in a spring training game running to first base.

Can’t they just leave Canterino on the 40-man long enough (as teams do with rookies they are trying to manipulate service time with) that he doesn’t earn a full year of service and then assign him in May if they then need the 40-man spot?

I’m not trying to be facetious or make jokes about his unfortunate injury history.  I truly hope he’s someone we see play for the home 9 for years to come.  He is seemingly already at a point where he’ll be under team control well into his 30s.   Wishing all these guys some good breaks and long careers as they chase their dreams.

How frustrating.  I wish the Twins could get to the root cause of his injuries.  If that is not possible, they may need to actually look to trade him.

He has weight room muscle. Not everyday go play, jump and run kinda muscle development. There is a difference from athletic toughman strength.

It's truly unbelievable......I mean it's a 90 foot sprint.  There are multi-million dollar clubhouses below the dugouts and probably a dozen trainers on staff.  Maybe he needs to be. getting stretched/massaged between innings, but to see a professional athlete go down two seasons in a row just running the bases boggles the mind.

Maybe I'm just a slow old guy. . . but how does this young, awesome guy keep hurting himself by *running hard*?
It's baffling, really.
Maybe ban him from lifting and make him eat three cheeseburger doubles daily?
You can't sprain fat?

I joke, but I am legit looking for reasons of this frustrating ish.

I saw it today.  It sucks.

The Twins and their fans were counting on Royce Lewis, so tough break today.

Unless there are further injuries it looks like the 26 person roster is set after the recent cuts and injuries.

SP: Lopez, Ryan, Ober, SWR, Paddack

RP: Jax, Duran, Sands, Alcala, Coulombe, Stewart, Varland, Castellano with Topa and Tonkin on IL

Catchers: Jeffers, Vazquez

Infielders: Castro, Correa, France, Lee, Julien, Miranda

Outfielders: Larnach, Buxton, Wallner, Bader

26th person: Guessing Martin but one of Martin, Gasper, Keirsey Jr.

Stewart hamstring, Canterino season ending surgery, Tonkin extended spring training to start the year. Some thins never change.

And the amazing thing is that stuff like this NEVER happens to other clubs.  Excuse me, Mr. Boone on line 1, Mr. Roberts on line 2, Mr. Hyde on line 3, Mr. Bochy on line 4, Mr. Cora on line 5, Mr. Schildt on line 6, Mr. Hinch on line 7.

What's more of a surprise?  Lewis getting injured or the Twins continued insistence of keeping him.  He is Buxton 2.0. Maybe he can turn it into a 7 year $100;000,000 million dollar deal too.  Then he can sit for 10 years and hardly ever play. What a fragile "player" he is.  Sheesh!

some takes are constructive.  some are not.

Am I crazy to think that even if Lee goes to 3B (likely) I still am not all that interested in having Julien at 2B?  Keaschall was reassigned so guess that's our fate.  Julien is just the definition of a "butcher" in the field.

I'm thinking we'll see Miranda at 3rd and Lee at 2nd.

People think the Twins need a new training staff because they clearly don't know what they're doing? Imagine having Spencer Strider, Ronald Acuna Jr, Ozzie Albies, Austin Riley, Michael Harris II, and Sean Murphy all get hurt on your watch last year.

Welcome to pro sports, folks. Injuries happen. It sucks that Buxton and Lewis have them happen so frequently, and Correa has had the foot issue in back to back years, but the Twins aren't special. They aren't some crazy outliers. The Dodgers lost roughly 84 rotation members last year (slight exaggeration). The Rangers had a ton of injuries. There are injuries all over the league every year. It happens to every team.
