So who takes their spots?

I'm guessing Duffey and Berrios will battle for Milone's spot until Gibson comes off the DL and the winner stays in Minnesota and the loser goes back to Rochester. If both Duffey and Berrios pitch well when Gibson comes back, then I wouldn't be surprised if the Twins move Nolasco to free up that rotation spot for the other youngster.

Better late than never but if Mr Spendthrift did not offer them arbitration, he could had signed a decent reliever with that cash.

Another nail in Ryan's coffin.  No judgement whatsoever.

With the way Fien has pitched in spring and now I am not surprised to see him designated for assignment.  I am a little surprised about Millone as he could pitch himself back and have some value in a trade.  plus while we do have other pitchers we are still hurting our depth in case of injury.    This also makes me think the Twins want to give Meyer more starts soon as he moves up the depth chain too.

Tommy Millone will now go on to proceed to tear up the NL-

in the months of June and July

He's always bad in April....

I don't really get Non-Tendering Millone

But i'm sure He got "Mad" at Neil Allen or Paul Molitor for having to move to the "bullpen for a while"

SOo if thats the case, i'm sure its something close to that, Good Riddance Tommy Millone. !

The decision to offer arbitration when you MAY HAVE the ability to resign them at a low rate outside of arbitration (i.e. see Duensing, Boyer or others).

Basically Rogers can replace Milone as a long guy in the bullpen, and any number of players can replace Fien (we will probably see Graham stay).

What the Twins do with the two open 40-man spots remains to be seen. A catcher perhaps?

Someone will pick up Milone since the Twins will be paying his bill. And he was a top hitter this year!

Duffey and Berrios should stay in the rotation if they pitch well. Gibson would probably replace Phil Hughes.

Interesting. I didn't thing they'd give up on Milone so fast, but saying goodbye to Fien is a step in the right direction.

That's $6.775M down the drain, or 6.4% of the Twins' payroll. TR should have devoted that money to a better reliever instead of paying these two...

I don't think anyone can pick up Milone unless they want to pay his salary, he can't refuse an assignment to Rochester

I still want to see Chargois, Burdi, etc in the pen instead of some $4.5 million reliever

Oh I agree and believe Duffey and Berrios will pitch well. I definitely don't want to see either pitcher being demoted, especially if they give the team the best chance to win.

Centeno and Kintzler will make no impact. If this move is to have impact it has to be someone like Chargois.

Replacing two journeymen with two less experienced journeymen isn't going to move them towards .500 this year or impact the team in the future. It makes no sense if it is a Kintzler and Centeno. That move won't move the needle at all.

That's a two edged sword, if both of them were being productive and executing there roles, people would think the Twins did good with their investment, which I don't think was an unrealistic proposition, it just went the opposite way. These 2 players track records do not indicate awfulness, the Twins pretty much payed them for what they were worth expectation wise. They were average.

Whoa! Shock! Thought for a second this was going to be some wishful thinking tease. But I am honestly shocked.

Really thought Fien would get May to prove himself, or at least buy time for a prospect, Chargois for example, to get another month of experience, probably at AAA. I could absolutely se Kinsler and it would make sense. He's pitching pretty well at Rochester last I looked, has ML experience, and he too could be released or sent back down in favor of Shaggy, or someone else, down the road.

Surprised by the Milone move. Figured sooner or later he might make another start or two and be traded for a lower level prospect. A breathing lefty with a decent track history, coming off an OK season should some value to someone shouldn't he?

For the future of the franchise, these are welcome moves. Again, nothing personal, but room has to be made on this roster for the youngsters. Hopefully, barring any additional injuries, Nolasco will continue to be solid and be moved when Gibson comes back. Hughes, I guess, Santana, Gibson, Berrios and Duffey. Hopefully Meyer again at some point.

I think this means Chargois is likely headed north.  I'm guessing Centeno gets a 40 man spot and trades places with Murphy.

I've got to think someone bites in Milone.  A bit surprised on that one.  Sadly, Tommy could have been traded this offseason.  Wouldn't have gotten much, but that money saved could have went to a decent bull  arm.

This is new territory for TR.  I haven't seen him hit the DFA button that fast.

I guess it's not really going to matter this season but I wish we had at least one lefty in the rotation. Taylor Rogers is the closest thing to that currently on the roster. Nothing against him but a trade would probably be required to make that happen.

So, is this based on the team wanting to shuffle the roster or Milone pouting about being in the bullpen?  I wonder where the impetus for that started.

We heard all offseason about how crucial and underrated Milone is and here we are 5 days into April and the guy that bumped May from the rotation is one step short of being given away for nothing.  That's, by far, the worst part of this.  We built our roster, in part, around Milone.

I'm glad the team is correcting mistakes, but holy christmas.....we should expect our administration to avoid mistakes altogether not make continually make the same ones.

Were there reports of Milone pouting to be in the pen? Can't imagine any starter would be happy with the move, but is this real or speculation? Either way, moot point ... buh bye.

Getting my .15 on, but got a text to watch for Mastroianni coming up to #MNTwins. Centeno too. Busy night. @MikeBerardino all over.

Looks like Centeno and Mastro will be taking the 40 man spots. I'm guessing Murphy goes down and then a reliever comes back up... hopefully Chargois, but it could be Rogers.

Mastro and Chargois up, Eddie Rosario down?

Speculation - I have no basis for it.  I'm just wondering out loud if that's what is going to come out.
