But they won't be making any decisions based on using Maeda and Ober yesterday. They certainly aren't going to let Ryan throw a single pitch because of lack of options. Ryan is out at the first sign of trouble, and a string of 1 inning appearances will begin. As they should. I took Brock's meaning to be an intentional short start, a la Jose Berrios. Yeah, obviously 3.2 innings is more than enough for Alvarez to take him deep twice.

I have no idea what's going to happen here. And when in doubt, you have to default to the most likely scenario: an Astros win. That said the Twins have surprised us before in this post season, and having a 35% chance to win isn't nothing. Altuve has got a hit to lead off the game every game of this series. Alvarez has homered every game of this series. If either of those streaks continue, the series is over. Get those guys out or just don't pitch to them, period. If the rest of the team beats you, hats off to them. If Ryan pitches a scoreless first, the team (and the fans) will start to feel some energy. If Ryan gives up anything in the first inning, this game is going to be over before it begins. Every scenario I play out in my head, I just keep seeing the same issues: Altuve and Alvarez's dominance, and just how ridiculously good the Astros are on the road this year. Regardless, Go Twins. Alvarez needs to feel some discomfort at the plate during his at bats. He's just waiting for his pitch to drive. a little inside.outside action might get him to start thinking more, and that should be to the Twins' advantage. bighat 1

If they need someone early (like 4th or 5th inning) to pitch to Alvarez and Tucker I would go to Paddack who has a really good changeup and reverse splits. That could be the first pitching change.

Ryan pulls his Joe Cool routine that he showed as a rookie and keeps the Astros in check. 6 innings. 1 ER. 7 Ks. Twins bats come alive thanks to Correa and Barrels. Twins head back to Houston with a 5-2 win. Craig Arko, wabene and ashbury 3

Road trip Verified Member Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 I doubt it is a phantom injury for Kirilloff, as the penalty is rather harsh. From MLB.com A club may request permission from the Commissioner's Office to replace a player who is injured during the course of a series, but that player is then ineligible for the rest of that round and the subsequent round, if there is one.
