I really could care less if they get rid of Correa's contract. Looking at next year's free agent class the only guys I'd want are Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso, Kyle Tucker or Kyle Scwarber. Even it the Twins offered top dollar, are any of them even going to consider going to a rebuilding team that is showing clear train-wreck tendencies?

Zero chance. None of these players would even grant an interview with the Twins FO.

I'm looking forward to Falvey's presser on all this. It'll be real interesting to hear what he has to say.

I know he hasn't been as productive as we would have wished - but we KNOW this salary dump won't  be reinvested in the team.

Pohlads sure make it hard to be a fan.

😠

Not by the Pohlads, certainly. But if LaVelle Neal's info is accurate, that era will soon end, followed hopefully by the departures of Falvey and Baldelli. Until the ownership and team leadership changes, nothing here merits optimism. First things first.

Wishing CC4 the best in his homecoming.

The Saints have had a tough time competing in the International League (14th) this year. How are they going to do in the American League in the next two months?

Going to see the Saints is going to cost a lot more now, but you will get nicer seats.

Ik this may seem stupid because the twins usually do this but I'm having a panic attack right now. Correa just meant a lot to me I never got to meet him but I have met his teammates. Also I know how much me meant to the Twins their fans and the club house. It's just really sad to see him to go it's just he meant a lot and I hope he did to every twins fan and I wish him the best.

There must be a precedent for a sell-off this deep, but I cannot think of one.

The mid 70s A's?  That was really about Charlie Finley refusing to pay players with advent of free agency though, and it didn't happen in one day. (and the A's were actually good)

Didn't see that coming ! Won't be surprised if he flips the switch and suddenly becomes the clutch hitter for Astros down the stretch

Sometimes it's the environment.

Salary dump?  He was not performing up to expectations and his future looked dismal with the Twins. He may be able to rejuvenate his career in Houston  Kind of an albatross off the Twins neck.  This will free up money for the Twins to their sign younger players.

It isn't how much money the Twins have saved ...it comes down to how they use that money.

Thanks for the memories Carlos. You were the best SS I every saw play for Minnesota. You were the epidemy of a professional baseball player. I wish you and your family much success and happiness in Houston.

I also extend well wishes to Correa. Carlos tried to bring a winning culture to the Twins. It doesn't appear as if his vision aligned with Falvey & Sons. The contract was always a stretch but I do not accept that it inhibited the Twins in any fashion in the same manner that Joe Mauer's contract did not inhibit the payroll decisions of his era.

If people want to know where things went bad, look to the sale to Carl Pohlad in 1984. I'm afraid the sale may take time but a new buyer will be necessary before any light shines on this franchise.

The Bob Nightengale tweet stated "other major league players involved in the mega-deal". I'm sure the Twins are still looking to get rid of the Castro & Vazquez contracts. Vazquez back to the Astros?

His vision maybe but his play was atrocious as a Twin.  He was non existent every season from April - May and August - September.  I'm relieved the Astros wanted him back so badly.  Carlos Correa was a double play machine and a momentum killer in the lineup for much of the past 2 seasons.

True. Yes, it took place over time. Bowie Kuhn even stepped in and forbid a trade to be completed.

This one really hurts. Been a fan my entire life and this is the first actual, genuine star free agent they've ever signed and they chuck him out a few years later in a gross salary dump. The Pohlads cannot sell soon enough.

It is difficult to be a Twins fan. We are going back to a farm club. Rebuilding. Whatever you wish to call it we will not be competitive for years. Just when you get fooled and we get close to competing and money is spent, they destroy it all. I do not wish to see them relocate, but it does make things difficult to stomach. Management doesn't even seem to want to try and compete.

Not sad or embittered about this at all. Great way to get out of what turned out to be a terrible signing.

Yep.  It wasn't just terrible it turned out to be a horrible signing.  Carlos Correa was horrendous for the Twins the last 2-1/2 years.  His offensive droughts legendary and intolerable for the amount of money he was making.  Not a key cog to build a team around.

It is true that the Twins will be building from the bottom. Sure hope it goes well.

Yeah and then we'll see how good Falvey is or ISN'T.

I'm thinking Castro as he was already linked. Plus, he's not listed as traded yet.
