Twins outright Vasquez

Was coming in here to say this. I'm betting Allen is the move, but not sure for who.

Littell will probably get to go back to Rochester.

Sorry to break it to everyone but I just got the call. It seems for diversity compliance, the Twins decide that a 72-year-old coming off shoulder replacement surgery would tick off several boxes on the compliance check list. I've never pitched but they told me that I'm starting Sunday.

I hope it's not Allen already, but I'm sure it is unless they've got a trade agreed to.  I'm sure they've fixed him after all of 2 innings in Fort Myers.

Would think they’d move him to at least AAA first before calling him up.

Huh. I heard a lot of good things about Vasquez last year, so it's surprising to see him get outrighted already - but he made it through waivers, so he's still ours, which is nice. I wonder if the Twins figured they'd get him through waivers now instead of at a different time?

I imagine they'll keep the 40 man spot open until they need it. I could also see them calling up Cody Stashak and giving him a chance.

Where are you seeing that he's cleared waivers already?

Hey, the Cubs called up a junior high kid in the early 90s. Seemed to work out for them alright!

Just wondering...

Can a player be removed from the 40 while injured? When the player is on the major league IL they can be moved to the 60.

Perhaps they want to make this move while he is healthy knowing that he is the one they would move when they need a spot. An injury might mess that plan up.

This lead is going to dry up to less than 5 games before the end of the weekend. They darn well better start making some moves.

At least it's not Cody Allen.

Great. Just great. Another guy not signed to a contract past 2019.

I've been doing research, for a potential article. There just aren't many trades before mid July. Most involve serious money being taken on, or no one you've heard of. I don't see this team taking on a huge contact....

I thought any player taken off the 40 man has to clear waivers and then can be either outrighted or released.

For 2019 Vasquez has an MLB ERA of infinity. He has a WHIP of 1.944 in AAA.

This is a perfect time to DFA him. Who's going to pick that up?

Free move. I really think that's all it is.

I asked for two years but they were afraid I wouldn't live that long.

You might be right about that.

Sunday’s starter is TBD. Maybe Graterol makes his debut? I hope... since I’m going to the game and don’t really want to watch a bullpen game....

Depending on how today goes, I would imagine that is what you might get - maybe Mejia starting.
