goulik Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/minnesota-twins LaMonte Wade is reportedly being called up without yet identifying the corresponding 25 man roster move
RedBull34 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Eddie must be hitting the 10 day IL. The injury bug is starting to bite...
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 I would assume Rosie to the IL.I know they tried to downplay it last night, but I can't see an ankle sprain not requiring an IL trip.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Corresponding move? It appears Eddie is truly day-to-day and Kepler played defense in last night's game. I suppose they could send down Littell, but the team has 4-5th starters Pérez and Pineda scheduled and Berríos coming off a blister situation. Regardless, congrats to Wade. He can get a chance to open some eyes as Arraez has done.
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Congrats to Wade on the call up. If, IF Rosario is truly day to day and not requiring a IL trip, I could see them sending down Astudillo or Arraez instead of a pitcher like Littell. One of them, or Cave would probably go back down when Buxton returns anyway.
Blake Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 I wonder if Cave needs to be worried? He's not been producing.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 We need a true outfielder. Even if Rosario and Kepler both avoid the IL they are banged up enough that they can't be relied on for full time duty. I also wonder if they will be forced to bring Buxton back a bit earlier than they had originally planned.

jorgenswest Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Their depth in position players has been helpful but they are just about tapped now on the 40. It might get be wise to get Gordon some games in the outfield in AAA.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 I would think if they were going to do that, he'd be the plan now instead of Wade. That depends on when they were previously planning on bringing Buxton back, which they have been tight-lipped about. If the plan was to bring him back two days from now I agree with you. If the plan was for one week from now they may shorten it to 5 days.

I think his presence on the team gives them the best chance to win. His hit tool and zone control have been amazing so far.
ashbury Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Wade's been on our radar for a long time. I hope he grabs this opportunity.
goulik Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Author Posted June 27, 2019 Wade's been on our radar for a long time. I hope he grabs this opportunity.Exactly this. I have been a fan from afar since reading about him when we drafted him. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your point of view) this may raise his trade bait value
drivlikejehu Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Wade is most likely a 4th outfielder going forward. Will be interesting to see how he looks defensively.

It's way too earlier for this conversation, but if it were today he'd be on the roster. Most teams drop a couple bullpen arms with the smaller rotation.
Musk21 Community Moderator Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Guess we found our corresponding move: Twins placed C/INF/OF Willians Astudillo on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain.

twins1095 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Wade is going to impress and I'm extremely excited he's getting an opportunity. His plate approach skills will play in the majors. He's Robbie Grossman with a slightly better hit tool, foot speed, and defense. Pretty much the perfect 4th OF and can fill in for stretches as a starter at any of the 3 OF positions. He's going to get on base A LOT. Probably my favorite minor league player for his OBP skills in the same way that people love Astudillo for his hit skill.

Shell-shocked ... Time for some pizza and zen meditation with Master Splinter I do hope this means Max, Eddie and Byron will be roaming together soon

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 I’ll say the same thing I always say. Play him! Let’s see what he can do. Welcome to the Bigs Wade.
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted June 27, 2019 Posted June 27, 2019 Kepler is in CF today. Arraez is in LF... Wade is on the bench, probably because he was likely on that 5:30 a.m. flight from Rochester to Minneapolis and won't get there much before game time.

His time here will likely be fairly short as hopefully Buxton, Kepler and Rosario are back at full strength soon. Hopefully just getting his feet wet will be a positive in his career. And you're right... he is the anti-Tortuga (which is why I'm so high on him)... Wade takes really great at bats and is willing to walk. He also plays defense.

With a little luck today, Seth, the game won't be played as it should be raining most of the day. Would be great to have the day off for Kepler to heal a bit so he is closer to 100%. Didn't Garver play some outfield when he was in the minors? Maybe even a few games for the Twins last year? Maybe get him in left field when not catching?

Last game of the season series, they should delay it until 3pm then play it by ear. Worst case have another 7pm start. Its NOT going to be raining all afternoon.

Just think his floor is really high in terms of being a productive player with the quality of ABs he takes! I've always thought he's the kind of guy that could impress over time, but understand that this is likely a short stint. The question will be how well the hit tool plays at the major league level. To me, even as a 4th OF I'd much rather have Wade than say Cave because of the quality AB factor. Either way, I'm with you on being high on Wade. I'm cultish about Wade the same way others are about Tortuga (and you are right with the anti Tortuga comment). Hoping we get a chance to see a couple games understanding that whatever happens in that small sample doesn't mean much. I do hope, however, that Wade can jump himself up the charts similar to how Arraez has done so in terms of how much the Twins trust him whenever the next round of injury bugs hit again.

When I suggested a late start to my wife, she said the worst of it was headed our way around dinner time. That was probably from KARE 11.
