  1. Tough night on the farm Seth. Looking for anything good, like to see both Roden and Houston with hits. Will second the comment above about so many of the pitching staffs giving up double digit runs.
  2. Why? For all we, or probably the Twins know he could be their ACE a few years from now.
  3. Great read, Nick. The pen is biggest problem facing the Twins if they want to compete this year or next. For that reason, I believe they should approach this year's deadline with one goal in mind, begin fixing the pen. Although a total fix is near impossible, they likely will have a couple players who can or should be traded. Players who can bring back a good, young bullpen arm with big league experience. Guys doing well with a year or two experience. If Ryan Jeffers won't sign an extension he must be dealt, especially now that Caratini/Jackson are doing so well. Jeffers should have enough value to bring back a solid young reliever. The Twins strength is their depth of corner outfielders. Beginning to question whether trading Larnach is a good option, especially if they continue to compete for a playoff spot this year. If not Larnach, someone needs to be moved. With several prospects deserving the call, the team can't keep both Martin and Keaschall. My belief is that Keaschall has too much promise to go, especially after last night's performance at the plate and in right field. So, I would opt for Martin being the one leaving. Can he bring back a solid young reliever? Probably not, but with a medium prospect added, maybe. That leaves Wallner, who I believe should only return to the Twins if he continues hitting very well in St. Paul and the DH spot is available. He and a prospect won't bring back a top reliever, but maybe one better than what they now trot out every other day.
  4. Fantastic seeing Jenkins hitting like last night. Considering how long he was out, am a bit surprised he came back as strong as he did without a week or two of poor results. Don't want to see either Roden or Jenkins up with the Twins until they are playing nearly every day. Expect that may happen when/if the Twins find a good trade partner for Larnach later this month. Also thinking the first man up will be Roden. It's also possible the Twins may not bring Jenkins up at all this year if he doesn't need to be added to the 40-man this fall. Does he? Should there not be baseball next spring/summer, it would be best for him to be playing in St. Paul versus being on strike or locked out versus getting a few weeks or month experience later this season.
  5. I'll admit I don't understand what these numbers represent. And yes, I understand Buxton no longer has a cannon in center field. But I can't give a lot of credibility to any system that says Buxton has a negative value in center field, no matter how small that negative number is.
  6. Diaw is really interesting. Great seeing him behind the plate as he will need all the experience he can get. Is his future a fourth outfielder who provides a legitimate third catcher who will catch a few games a month while also being that emergency catcher a few times a year? Or will he be a backup, or maybe even starter who can play in the outfield when not catching? Also good seeing Houston's bat settle into AA. If he can hit well in Wichita, he isn't far from being ready to claim the Twins shortstop position for much of the next decade. Expect all of us would love seeing the Twins have the same player at shortstop every day, a player who is also among the league's best defensive shortstops.
  7. Knew nothing about Sprock, interesting. Thanks for the mention above that he is being moved to catcher. Was thinking, a catcher with a lot of stolen bases? Kid is also walking more than 3 times for every 2 strikeouts. Heck of an interesting prospect.
  8. As I read this, I kept thinking, Rosario is another Matt Wallner. The Twins don't need another defensive liability who strikes out way too much. Like Wallner, hopefully Rosario will get hot at AAA and come winter the Twins can include him in a trade bringing back some value.
  9. Add me to the list of those that believe you can be a seller who improves their current team while doing it. With all the young outfielders on the horizon one has to believe that at least one is going to be a very good or great player. Moving Larnach opens a spot for that prospect. Should he keep hitting like he has for another three or four weeks, he should bring back something of value. And the Twins biggest need is help in the pen. If they need to add a minor league prospect to get a very good reliever, do it.
  10. If I recall the Twins had a second baseman a while ago who was nothing special for a few years. Then he developed into a player we all loved Brian Dozier. Granted, much of the difference was the power that came out of nowhere. And that's not likely to happen with Keaschall. My point is that we need to give this young man some time, certainly more than roughly the year he has had. I checked Dozier's fielding stats, unfortunately, I don't have a clue what they say. But my memory tells me he wasn't all that good at second his first few years before becoming a solid second baseman. 2026 should be a year when the Twins work with the young players who began their year with the club. They also need to bring maybe a half dozen other top young prospects up to begin seeing which can be a big part of their future.
  11. Huge night tonight for Quick. Need a Hill like performance with a few more innings. Great first games for Houston and Jenkins. Like most of you would love to see Jenkins playing well for the Twins beginning today, or maybe tomorrow. But truth is it is best for him to stay in St. Paul until the trading deadline, then join the Twins and never look back. Won't it be great seeing Jenkins and Buxton playing next to each other for the next 5+ years?
  12. My hope is that Wallner keeps hitting a lot of long home runs at St. Paul. Then a few weeks from now Zoll finds that one GM who loves long home runs and can trade Wallner or Wallner as part of a package for something of value. Am out here in Denver and that thin air. Could the Rockies use somebody to DH who strikes out 35%-40% of the time but hits a 400'++ home run every 15-20 at bats? Please!
  13. I think you nailed what the Twins plan may be or should be at the deadline. Yes, they should be sellers. But also, buyers with most trades bringing back something the club needs to compete this year. Gotta believe the top of that list is a couple solid relievers.
  14. Fantastic news that Houston is moving up. If he hits anywhere near what he did for the Kernels, he will confirm that he will be the Twins shortstop for much of the next decade. If not, maybe not. Hopefully, Jenkins will come back to the Saints hitting like Roden has. As mentioned above, should Larnach be moved next month could the Twins have Roden/Jenkins in their corner outfield spots the last two months of the season? Us old guys can dream, can't we?
  15. Was so excited about Abel coming out of spring training. Well, that lasted a couple of weeks. Will he become a true #1 ACE? Only time will tell, but it sure would help get the Twins back into a realistic hunt for the playoffs.
  16. With the Twins not on any tv channel I get, watched a couple innings of the Saints game before falling asleep. Wallner was on second base with his double when I found the game. Also saw him let an outfield grounder go under his glove almost to the wall that led to the unearned run. Even if he returns to hitting some long home runs, he is unplayable in the field. Had been a big fan of Martin before becoming a huge fan the first month or so of this season. Have this nagging feeling there might be some Eduord Julien in him as I watched this last month. Should Roden continue hitting like he has for another week or longer, do they call him up and send Martin to St. Paul. I assume he has options and maybe a re-set in July could be the fix he seems to need. Roden would start in right field three or four days a week with Clemens getting a few starts while playing more back in the infield. Roden just might be a very good player? Isn't it best the Twins find the answer to that question before the end of this season.
  17. After shall we say a disappointing start to his season, Gabby has been on fire of late. The only other good thing I saw out of that double train wreck in St. Paul was Marco Raya. Your thoughts, Seth, on when/if he is ready for a shot at the Twins? I may have asked before, but was wondering if Chourio is related to the young Brewers star? Do you expect Pena to be added to the Top 20 prospect list soon? Will second the comments about the run scoring in the minors that is flat out crazy.

  19. Can he become a very good late inning guy? I really hope so. Regardless of what anyone says, this season has to be a year when the Twins answer some questions and get long looks at more than a half dozen young guys on the horizon (hopefully several of them will get and stay healthy). Morris wasn't one many thought would be in that position last winter. Yet, he has worked his way into the mix. Looks to me that he is one of the guys the Twins will be counting on as they work to build out their 2027 bullpen.
  20. Add me to the list of those excited with how well Houston has been playing. What is most interesting to me were the 2 stolen bases and 2 doubles. Granted defense in A ball is often questionable, but 20 steals tell us he has reasonable speed and is somewhat a good base runner/stealer. Love the doubles, which tells me he will have some extra base power when he arrives at Target Field. Add his superb defense and you have someone who should anchor the Twins infield for many years beginning a couple years down the road. Will find it interesting who the catcher is at Cedar Rapids every day now that Tait and Jiminez are both at Cedar Rapids.
  21. My exact thoughts while reading this. But you said it so much better than I ever could. Thanks.
  22. Doubt he will be available, but Lackey sure seems like the #1 choice. Not often you get an athletic catcher who hits very well and is a plus defender. Seems like it is a position of need for the Twins as Jiminez and Tait are a long way away. Who knows how either will develop.
  23. Another game, another 2 hits and a walk for Houston. Also good seeing Roden going 1-2 with a walk, especially with the hit a home run. He comes back to St. Paul when? Monday? Or does he play a few games with the Mighty Mussels? Great seeing him close because the Twins need one of Roden, Jenkins and Rodriguez to be ready to be called up. Soon!
  24. Thanks, Nick. And yes, there haven't been a lot of bright spots of late. Unfortunately, so many of the young prospects we were hoping would give the team a boost are injured and their arrival time delayed. The good news is several are nearing returning to the field with their arrival hopefully around the all-star break. Or trade deadline. Add me to the list of those agreeing with the article, was it yesterday?, about time for the Twins to plan for 2028.
  25. Thanks for another excellent report, Seth. Great seeing Gabby heat up of late. Also impressed with Diaw, nearly every day. With the exception of a short period several weeks ago, Houston has been hitting very well all season. What was somewhat of a surprise, at least to me, is that with two last night he now has 19 stolen bases. Does he have elite speed? Or just a smart base runner with not-so-great catchers in Hi-A? Not such great nights from Quick or Soto, although as Finn mentioned above it is good seeing Soto back on the mound.
