  1. Thought it is again time for my disclaimer. When I use the smiley face it isn't meant to say ha ha, which I see as negative. I use it when I read a comment that brings a good smile. Thanks.
  2. Love this young man and look forward to his playing his entire career with the Twins. And wouldn't it be nice to see him playing for a ring some year down the road?
  3. Report seems awfully critical for a young man who if he was from Edina would likely be getting ready for his senior year of high school. Seems that the emphasis on power in this and most reports is overblown. Isn't it possible for a young player to develop into a good, or even great player with average power? With the exception of one year, Joe Mauer never developed a lot of power. He turned out to be a really good player, wasn't he?
  4. Believe Aaron at 6'0 was generous. When I saw him playing as a young man, sure didn't look like it.
  5. Got a good smile from me, GNess. Because it appears your comment was written before Bradley's start today. That's what so amazing about spring training. Every day brings us something to talk/think about.
  6. He isn’t built like a traditional power-hitting corner outfielder, at 5-foot-11, Although I only saw him play once a year, I believe Henry Aaron was 5'11, or was it 5'10? How tall was Puckett?
  7. A comment and question. I expect Abel to be part of this year's Twins rotation, not pitching in St. Paul. Understand Liriano was a bit younger than Rojas, he was, wasn't he? But could Rojas be considered Liriano lite? I really hope so.
  8. A while back I stated that to be competitive the Twins will need one of their young starters stepping up and pushing Ryan for the #2 spot in the rotation. A young stud who has all of us thinking could become a future Ace. Someone like Cleveland seems to bring up every year or two. Its only a few appearances but sure looks like Abel could be the one. More recently stated the Twins need to be more like Tampa, ie, trade most of their good-to-very good players before reaching free agency. This spring that would be Joe Ryan and Ryan Jeffers. But the return can't be only prospects, rather must include at least one former top prospect who has some major league experience to prove he belongs. Preferably, one such player would play first base or shortstop. Also agree with the above comments calling for Roden to not only make the opening day roster, but be playing regularly. Unlike most, I would have him in right field.
  9. Add me to those who would like to see Keaschall at second base long-term. Missed his play before the broken arm. But loved what I saw after he came back. His speed and aggressiveness is special. Love it and believe the Twins need more of it. A lot more. Will question one of your statements, Nick. You indicated that developing more power will be the difference between being a solid regular and star. Are you saying that without adding power he cannot become a star? Expect Rod Carew would disagree with that opinion.
  10. Could not agree with you more, bean. Keep wondering how the Twins, or any mid-or-small market team can compete? Baseball needs better revenue sharing along with a real salary cap. But even with those in place, smaller market teams need to be better than those teams with pockets bulging with cash. Hopefully, that will be addressed within the next year. Unfortunately, I don't expect whatever comes from the coming negotiation to be perfect. First, they need to draft better than most teams, ie, they cannot make big mistakes like that rising shortstop several years ago. They also need to be smarter when signing International kids. With one of the largest International budgets each year, I don't understand why they almost never sign anyone from the top 25 or 30 rated prospects? Next, they need to do a fantastic job developing these kids and getting a better than average number to the majors. Once they get there, they need to be coached well so they become the most productive player their talent allows. Lastly, they need to supplement their roster with smart trades and the occasional free-agent signing, like Nelson Cruz. Yes, they can sign that special player long-term. Someone like Mauer, Puckett, Buxton and probably Morneau and Hunter. But most decent, or even good players need to be moved as they near free-agency. Get a good return to continually restock the system to have that constant pipeline of replacements. Yes, there will be years that feel like a rebuild. But if they are smart in signing young kids and developing them there should also be multi-year windows when they are very competitive. It seems to me that what Tampa has been doing is the best we Twins fans can hope for. Hopefully TP and Zell are up for the challenge.
  11. Had been wondering who would be ranked the highest, Soto or Hill. Since we have yet to see Hill's name, guess I have my answer. Although Quick is older than this duo, he will make a trio of exciting young arms to follow this year and beyond. Maybe this pipeline is finally getting fully built with the results coming year-after-year. Hopefully!
  12. Love watching this young man play the game. Add me to the list of those who want to see him stay with the Twins for his entire career. And who knows, maybe, just maybe he can also get that ring a few years from now.
  13. Interesting read, Ray. Also disappointing, especially when also looking at the guys ahead of them. Am beginning to wonder what TP will think after watching what could be an ugly start to the season? Could he sit down with Zell and say, this ain't gonna work? Let's go all out on a rebuild beginning with trading most of the starters a.s.a.p. Pick up another half dozen top prospects, including a few players who have actually arrived in the big leagues. Get the kids into the lineup and sell the public on a team that just might win a few years down the road.
  14. Another fantastic read, Nick. Thanks. A couple young men with awesome talent/potential. Add one uber exciting pitcher and I like this group, although I also could see Mendez higher than a couple of these young prospects.
  15. Looking at all these options, Nick, makes me sick. They are flat out ugly. The young kids can't get here soon enough and hopefully, several of them will be really good. My hope would be we see more of Martin in left field and less of Wallner in right. A lot less.
  16. So excited that you are doing these, Seth. Thanks. Saw Ellwanger's name and thought, who? Guess I don't follow this stuff like I used to back when. Then saw he was a '25 draft pick who hadn't played and felt a bit better. Interesting prospect. Will double down on jmlease1's comment. Diaw gives us three very interesting catching prospects who could begin arriving in '27. Wouldn't it be great if one of the three turned into a really good catcher? One the Twins could pencil into their starting lineup 100 games a year for 8-10 years? Disappointing how many of you are down on DeBarge. I like to look at the positive side, that being he was a bit beat up and wore down in his first full professional season. Should he be anything close to his first few months when he reaches the big leagues would make him special. I'll take a top defender at second base who gets on base and steals bases. A lot of them. Now that would be exciting! I am tired of the revolving door of who is at first base every spring. Can we all dream together of the day the Twins have a young first baseman who will play the position for 6+ years? Who was the last one, Mientkiewicz? Will they please tell Mendez to throw away all of his gloves, other than the first base glove, and search out Tom Kelly for advice on how to play there. Maybe, just maybe he could be ready to man the position come spring training 2027. A question for those of you in Ft. Myers, does Kelly still make spring training appearances?
  17. Martin and Roden both not only belong on the opening day roster but also starting. Should the Twins decide to use them as a left field platoon, Martin will not be in the lineup as much as he should. The Twins need Martin and Keaschall at the top of their order for their speed to put pressure on the opponents. My hope is that Martin is in left and Roden in right on opening day. That puts at least one of Wallner or Larnach playing for another team and the other in the DH mix.
  18. OK, I like the idea of this trio playing together in the Twins outfield. And yes, utilizing the DH spot that can be accomplished with Buxton still on the team. My question, who of this trio would be the center fielder when Buxton has a day off or is the DH?
  19. Sure hope you are right. It appears there are enough owners who finally are ready to demand that baseball's problems are actually fixed. And if that means a salary cap, the players have been clear they won't accept that. Will be interesting to see what the players union losing their head guy will mean, if anything.
  20. Abel, Bradley and Rojas all have excellent first outings. That is just flat out FANTASTIC! Bring on opening day.
  21. Couple of questions. For those of you speculating about next year, will there be baseball next year? Expect most teams are adjusting their plans because of that question. The signing of Caratini tells me they are assuming Jeffers is gone. Only question is when? I would have hoped that they traded Jeffers after signing Caratini so they could keep Jackson as their backup while awaiting the arrival of Tail/Jimenez. Could that still happen during spring training?
  22. Must agree with all of you who want the Twins to wait until July, then trade Ryan. That's assuming they aren't leading the Central come July. Also agree with those of you who propose trading him yesterday. With one wrinkle. Trade him now only if the return is beyond anyone's wildest dreams of what they could expect getting, ie, the Twins must be blown away. Forget BBTV, the return has to be 1.5-to-1.0, or even 2.0-to-1.0. And the return must include a couple young players with some MLB experience. Players you can count on in 2026. As for others, I could see a Jeffers trade making much more sense at this time. Also trading Larnach should have been done over the winter.
  23. Two spots in the rotation, four young arms looking to fill them. Will one of the two who don't make it move to the pen? Or will both be in St. Paul as the next man/men up? Remains to be seen which two will take those spots. Going to be an exciting spring training. My only hope is that one of this foursome takes that last big step to approach Ace status. Happens in Cleveland all the time, why not for the Twins?
  24. I believe you give him too much credit defensively. Yes, he can change the game defensively. Unfortunately, often that change isn't good. Granted, he has a cannon for an arm. But too often his throws aren't on target. In the field he not only is awkward going after the ball but also misplays too many balls on the ground. For me, he can best help the team as their DH. I don't see the Twins finishing the year with both Larnach and Wallner on the team. We know who Larnach is. Wallner still has the hope of hitting 40+ home runs. Thus, I see Larnach being the first to depart. If Wallner has another year like 2025, expect he will also be gone come spring 2027.
  25. I'm from the camp that loves the old traditional pinstripe look. So I'll go with your #5 as my #1. Like you, I don't like the City Connect and would have them last. No real opinion on the other three as they all are good, in my opinion.
