  1. Two comments DJL44 that I must disagree with. Matter of fact, I am getting tired of so many people bashing Keashall's D. Yes, he wasn't great last year. If memory serves, he was a DH all/most of 2024 to get his bat in the lineup prior to having TJ surgery late in the year. Following the surgery, he wasn't able to do much over the winter while rehabbing. He then was rushed to the Twins in 2025, before breaking his arm and missing a couple months. The kid played last year with a less than 100% arm. He also hadn't played hardly any D for nearly two years. Let's give him the opportunity to have worked out all winter and spring training before we dump him on the scrap heap. As for Lee, the player I saw was more comfortable at short than other positions last summer. Was he good a short, no, but to my eye he was better than second or third. He is another player who was rushed and could have a much better bat in 2026. At least we can hope so. If not, then his future probably is as a utility guy.
  2. Wasn't my point, Over the Hill. Was trying to say there are probably lots of people here today who were very young and not even following baseball when Frankie broke in. Yes, all us old and older guys (and gals) remember him well.
  3. Really don't care all that much about these rankings. What I care about is how they are going to play in 2026 and after they join the Twins. Like most of us, was disappointed by GG's play in 2024. Looking back, it seems that his injury may have been a big part of why. My only question going forward is whether or not they will even try to move him to first base as his outfield D is only ok and first base is a huge position of need for this club. Hill is so young, I just want to hold my breath and hope this kid develops into that special young stud who comes up to the Twins by mid-2027 and never looks back. It's been way too long since the Twins have had that special young lefty. Heck, I suspect a lot of us on this site don't even remember what it was like watching Liriano that first year? I don't care if Houston hits only .225 if his D is as special as most seem to think. My question is whether Lee is holding the position until Culpepper arrives? Then Culpepper holds for Houston? Finally, Houston will hold it for this year's third overall pick who will be the Twins shortstop for a decade plus?
  4. Not interested in either of these guys. As the most recent Pohlad said, Go big or go home. Or something like that. So if you are doing any trades, trade Ryan and/or Jeffers for a big return. A HUGE return, including a couple guys already doing better in MLB at positions of need. That along with a couple great prospects who are very close.
  5. Tremendous post, rosterman. Liked the idea of bringing back Rortvedt. Recall he was hitting well the first month or two of the season for Tampa, was it last year? Don't know what happened after that. Maybe he was dealing with injuries? Maybe not? But his return would give the Twins two players from the Middleton, WI area (Verona and Middleton are almost adjacent). How can you not love that? Can't believe how everyone has given up on Roden after a handful of at bats followed by a trade/move to another club then an injury. My only other thought is I believe Martin is becoming a valuable player who can be a big part of a winning team, both on the field and in the batter's box. Would love to see him starting at least 140 games next year and beyond. Kind of see him as a lesser version of that left fielder Cleveland has, who's name I can't recall.
  6. The Twins keep adding catchers who could be called up, if needed due to an injury on the big club. Certainly seems like they are postering to do something. Maybe trade Jeffers?
  7. Appreciate all the data you provide, bean. But in this case, sure would be nice to know what I am looking at.
  8. Very interesting, Nick. Thanks. As I see it, yes the Twins can compete. But to do so they need to have better health than the past several seasons. Much better with all of the key players playing most of the year. They also need the new manager/coaching staff to light a fire under some of these guys and get some fight out of them. That together with getting a few of these guys to play closer to what they are projected to be and they just might surprise. Yes, I am thinking of you Mr. Lewis, Wallner and Lee. Add one or two of the position prospects and pitchers living up to their hype and the Twins may be more than a surprise. But yes, lots need to go right. So I don't see them making a move on Ryan or Lopez. The more I read about trading Jeffers, must agree it makes a ton of sense now that Caratini is here for two years. With all the corner outfielders here and on the way, a Larnach trade is an absolute must. Maybe they need to add a decent prospect to get a good, young reliever, just do it. Finally, love the idea of extending both Keaschall and Jenkins now. Totally disagree with those comments about Keaschall from Baseball Prospectus. No one seems to want to remember the kid was hurried to the big leagues and dealing with an arm that wasn't 100% from his surgery and then missed another couple months with a broken arm. Heck, wasn't he limited to DH most/all of his last year in the minors? Lets give the kid at least one healthy year to work on his defense before we throw him on the scrap heap.
  9. I didn't know how to attach one of those funny looking things, as my comment was made "tongue in cheek," if that's the right comment.
  10. Absolutely great news. Zoll has been in control for less than a week and we already have one very good decision.
  11. Another great post and fantastic comments. Sounds like there is a real chance that both Zebby and Festa are better suited for the pen. Perhaps the Twins are also of this opinion, which may be why they haven't been overly concerned with signing a bunch of middle of the pack relievers for $xM each. They may feel that both of these guys will be at least that good.
  12. Great post and loved the comments. I don't believe he achieved what we hoped for when hired. That was the development of a Cleveland like pipeline. The pitching pipeline for the Twins is better, maybe even Cleveland light. But it seemed every time Cleveland had a guy go down with an injury, some kid most of us never heard of came up and went 6 innings against the Twins leaving with the Tribe up 4-1 or 3-0, or something like that. Did we know who Bieber was when he came up? Or several of the guys pitching there the last few years? That has yet to happen for the Twins, although he has found some good ones in trades. So I see him as doing a good job on the pitching side. But not great, at least until some of these current kids come up and get votes for the Cy. A lot of votes. But as many of you said he failed on the hitting side and the defense for the Twins has been just plain awful. Why Falvey is gone is another interesting question? I keep wondering if it is more related to the fact he was given total control of both the business and baseball side of the organization. Don't see that often in sports and maybe, or probably, is why he is gone.
  13. Love the comments. But this move doesn't address their biggest problem, the bullpen. Will say it again, trade Larnach or Larnach plus for a good young reliever. Then use those saved dollars to sign another player for either the pen or shortstop defense. That's assuming there are still players out there who could help.
  14. Are those the numbers for Festa, old nurse? If so, holy cow that is fantastic. Open the door to the pen. But I also believe that young starter moving to the pen should be determined in spring training. I could be any of the four, in addition to Raya, Prielipp and others.
  15. Isn't it great reading an article about the players and baseball on the field? I don't know if Festa is the one heading to the pen, but one of the four sure needs to be there. At least in 2026. Gotta believe that the FO was of the belief all winter that they had several good options for their pen already in the organization. As for Ober and SWR being a solid #3 and #4, I also am hopeful that one of the four young guns steps up and becomes that dominant starter who takes the #3 slot with Ober and SWR moving down a spot. Wouldn't that be fantastic?
  16. Another morning, another article bashing the Twins. Bah Humbug! With the way the Twins played the last year and a quarter, everyone in management should have been fired. And that firing included terminating the family member running the team. To me, that is positive. But others continue to find new avenues to bash the organization. Personally, I will sit back and hope like heck the Twins have a decent 2026 and are competitive by 2027. That's assuming there is baseball in 2027. And if there isn't hopefully, the needed changes finally are put in place to enable all teams a chance to compete on a somewhat equal footing. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the Twins have a bigger payroll last year than the Brewers? Yes, payroll matters but it is equally important how those dollars are spent. And that was subject to Falvey's decisions.
  17. Two trades stick in my craw, that trade with the Giants for a reliever at the deadline several years ago and the Mahle trade. Both trades were for pitchers who were injured. I know there often isn't a lot of time at the deadline to do due diligence. But the Twins under Falvey didn't get it done in both cases. Expect one can say the same in the trade that brought Paddack here as he was also coming off an injury, wasn't he? But that wasn't a deadline deal and they knew, or should have known the status of Paddack's arm. I would put both Correa signings into the BAD column. None of us know the discussions Falvey was having with ownership when first signed. But considering how often we have heard the term 'right sizing the payroll' I am of the opinion that his signing destroyed the Twins relationship with its fanbase. What I believed happened was that ownership authorized the deal and increased spending for one year with Falvey agreeing to get it back down the following year. And that's what happened. The result has been the fanbase bashing the Pohlad's ever since. Had they never signed Correa and the payroll kept edging up each year I expect the hatred of the Pohlad clan wouldn't be as severe. Thus, I put the original Correa signing at the head of the BAD column.
  18. After reading Nick's piece a day late, appreciate this article, Cody. Thanks. I believe we are at the point in baseball, heck all sports, that success in greatly affected by injuries. Not the number as all teams have way too many injuries. But most important is which players are injured. After seemingly way too many years of injuries decimating the Twins, can they have better luck in 2026? If so, that will go a long way towards making them competitive. Agree with the above comment that their mix of position players is outta whack. And yes, the bullpen is in trouble and needs work. But the Twins can have one of the better starting rotations in baseball if Lopez, Ryan, and Ober are all healthy for most of the season. Is it too much to ask that one of Able, Bradley, Festa or Matthews takes that final step and becomes a dominant starter and moves into the #3 spot in the rotation? That puts SWR as their fifth starter with two of the four young guns at St. Paul for depth. Move one of those four to the bullpen as a solid late inning guy and things will look a lot better come April than they do today. I still think they need to trade Larnach or Larnach plus a prospect for another good young reliever. Who knows, maybe the young hotshot now in charge will shock all of us.
  19. WOW! Since the day he was given total control of both the business and baseball sides I thought it couldn't work. Why Joe P did that, I don't understand. Thanks to those of you confirming Tom P will be finding a person to lead the business side, not the baseball side. At least for now, that will be Zoll. Hopefully, he is of the opinion that a baseball team consisting of all left-handed hitting corner outfielders and first basemen doesn't work. Unfortunately, there isn't time remaining to fix it for this year. Maybe there still is time to get another bullpen arm.
  20. Thanks, Peter. Great read, really enjoyed it. Glad to see confirmation of the Fort Myers guys involvement.
  21. Great article, Sherry. Sad situation, but maybe hope for the future.
  22. My comment had nothing to do with age. Merely stating that the Twins once had a guy who broke in working out of the bullpen before converting back to a starter. Then mentioned he went on to be pretty good. Age wasn't mentioned and had nothing to do with what I was trying to say.
  23. Having no expectations of the Twins doing anything for the pen, this came as a pleasant surprise. I understand he isn't the TR we knew. Still makes the bullpen better. Now, if they will go out and trade Larnach or Larnach plus a mid-level prospect for a young reliever who can be expected to handle the 8th or 9th inning. I also remain hopeful that the one young pitcher no one is talking about will finally be healthy and join the Twins pen by mid-May. From everything I have ever heard about Matt Canterino, he is a class young man who deserves some good news on the health front.
  24. Interesting piece, thanks. Don't understand all the talk about Prielipp not being ranked as highly because he will likely be in the bullpen this year. The Twins have a need and he hasn't pitched a lot of innings, so the bullpen makes sense. If memory serves, the Twins had a very good lefty who also began his career pitching out of the pen before moving into the rotation and winning several Cy Youngs. Why can't this be the path for Prielipp?
  25. Interesting question. Expect the answer is 'nobody knows.' The Twins may be looking at 2028 as their first real chance to compete. Long-shot this year and way too many unknowns for 2027. What will the catching situation be for the Twins come 2028? How close will Tait and/or Jiminez be? Is there anyone else currently at AA or AAA who they believe could develop into either a MLB starter or good backup? If those are their thoughts, cannot see them extend Jeffers. And if he isn't going to be extended, gotta believe he is gone by July 31 at the latest. Hopefully, he is healthy and having a good spring or first half and the Twins get something back that can provide immediate help for the big club. As for Jackson, if he is waived and claimed by team X, they are liable for his salary. Correct?
