  1. Thank you for pointing out that the Twins had as much or more player payroll than several similar teams in the upper Midwest and most have performed better. Would be great to see TD writers and the sports writers in the Twin Cities pivot to focus on what the Twins have been doing with said money. Why are other teams getting more bang for their bucks? Great comment in Reussie's column in the Strib this morning. He was at the Twins press conference and after 20 minutes or so of Falvey talking he asked Zoll a question. The reason he said was that he felt badly for Zoll sitting there for that long and not being included in the conversation. Comment gave me a good smile over my coffee. Also found it interesting..
  2. I wish there was something stronger than saying I "love" your comment. Couldn't agree more.
  3. Trevor Plouffe apparently made two suggestions yesterday, Hunter and Justin Morneau. Expect it will be likely that the manager chosen is none of the above. Also likely many, or most, of us here will be disappointed by their choice. As for the suggestion above that it be TK, I for one would love to see whomever it is brings back the principals with which he managed.
  4. Which team had the largest payroll this year, the Twins, Guardians, Detroit, Kansas City or Milwaukee Brewers?
  5. Thanks for doing these this year, Nick. They are appreciated, a lot. Add me to those who are both excited and intrigued by this past week's starting pitching. Is it for real? Can these kids, and Ober, maintain this into next year? Their four veteran starting pitchers, yes, I include SWR in this group, are capable of being as good as most of the good teams. Four young starters, plus Prielipp and Rojas a bit further away, provide more than adequate depth for the season. Seems to me that they not only might trade one of their front-end starters, Lopez or Ryan, but it is the smart move. The key will be getting a return that not only includes a top young prospect, but also a younger very good late inning reliever. Should they do that, moving either top of the rotation starter can help the team actually compete next year and beyond. Personally, I hope they keep Lopez even though his salary will be more than double Ryan's. Most important, however, is they maintain a good line of communication with Buxton all winter long so he understands what they are doing and is on board with their plan.
  6. Great seeing Prielipp get thru the entire season, pitch over 100 innings and get the Twins MiLB Pitcher of the Year. His numbers were very good. But I was wondering. Considering his few innings over the past X years he often tired as he got to the third or fourth innings. Expect his stats would have been off the charts had the last inning in each outing not been included. As he builds his arm strength, expect he could/will be special come 2026 and beyong.
  7. Going to be an interesting question, Nick, one that won't be answered until spring training. We just don't know what the Twins plans will be until then. As for who I expect the Twins will trade for one late inning reliever and sign a couple free agents. Hopefully, one is capable of being a late inning guy. Of those you mentioned, I see Matthews as being their next Varland. And Festa reminds me a bit of Jax from a few years ago. Don't know if it is a pipedream, but those two could prove to be solid. Or better.
  8. Thanks, Seth. Found it interesting that the top two were both low picks from the 2021 draft. Would be exciting to see low picks like this duo spend four to five years working their way up the ladder before enjoying success on the big stage. We all know that the Twins will need to bring in at least four top relievers from outside the organizaiton if they are to compete in 2026. Can see both of these young men as part of the competition for those last four spots coming from within.
  9. Thanks, Cody. With this group there is real hope that the Twins can have two or three young outfielders doing very well in a year or two. May the Baseball God's please let that happen. Don't know what to make of Rosario. Have liked the kid since he was drafted in that weird season. Loved what he did in the AFL a couple years ago and his hitting this year. But with GG, Jenkins, EmRod and others, don't see a place for him with the Twins. My question would be whether he has enough value to be included in a trade to bring back a very good reliever this winter?
  10. Love how the Twins have been running and putting pressure on the other team since the deadline. My question is, why didn't Rocco have his team doing this for his first 6+ years? And more important, will it continue in 2026?
  11. Not sure I want to thank you, or not, for reminding me of that game/inning. The same for Patzky above about the Dodgers game and that ump. The good news I guess is that in 2026 the players will be able to challenge those bad calls, assuming they haven't used their two challenges. I guess a good word is that I found the article interesting, Cody. On the other hand, I choose to anticipate the moves the FO should be making this winter, spring training, 2026, and the arrival of a couple potential super stars.
  12. Lots of problems with your roster, Cody. First, you have no backup at short or third. None. Nada. Second, no mention of Zebby Matthews, who has been a regular starter for the Twins late this season. Now personally, I think he may be best suited for a move to short relief. But he is missing in action. Third, I don't see the Twins non-tendering Larnach. Although it seems many here at TD have zero respect for the young man, he has been one of their better hitters this year. Will agree that he may be the most likely to leave, but he should bring back something in a trade. Maybe he and a pitching prospect are moved for a decent late inning bullpen guy. And there is no way they don't bring in some bullpen help. I expect them to sign at least two relievers, one good late inning guy and another like Columbe this year. They should also trade for another and likely convert a starter to a relief role. I doubt that starter moving to the pen is going to be Prielipp, who just may be their best pitching prospect not already pitching for the Twins. Also, likely they sign several AAAA guys with some big-league experience, much like they have done in the past.
  13. Thank you Seth and to all the writers at TD. In a year that turned too far South, way too early, your reports have been so important. Good seeing Jenkins getting another double yesterday. I really believe this guy is special and will have an impact for the Twins next year. Along with all the young players on the current Twins who should improve next year, there is hope for 2026. Thanks again and also thank you to all those who comment.
  14. Thanks, Nick. Appreciate seeing this and couldn't agree more with Bader.
  15. Thanks Nick for an excellent look at what could be. If even a couple of these happen, we could enjoy 2026.
  16. I don't know if today is your last day of duty this year, Seth. But if it is, wanted to say thank you my friend. Thanks for a long summer of information about the teams many of us came to care most about. Great seeing Jenkins playing after missing a couple games. Seems like the player we saw yesterday is who this young man is. Will second those comments for EmRod. Hopefully, he can be healthy next spring so the Twins can see what he can do for them. Question, I see the Berrios pitching against the Saints yesterday is from Puerto Rico. Any relation to Jose?
  17. The Twins acquired Duran in a trade. My comment was specifically about players signed by the Twins who later played with the Twins. Patrick mentioned Fernando Romero and there may have been a few others with a cup of coffee. My point was that I cannot remember anyone who became an established Twins pitcher who they signed as a young kid from the International signing periods.
  18. Not really because he was a high draft pick. My comments were related to International signings who for as hard as I try I can't think of anyone.
  19. Thanks Seth. Haven't followed the rookie leagues like I used to, thus, really appreciate your end of the season discussion about who we should be watching going forward. Hope like heck one of these young pitchers makes it to the Twins. And is good when he gets here. Keep taxing my brain but I cannot come up with any International pitcher the Twins signed and developed who actually made it to the Twins. Much less was good when he got here. Considering how many good Latin pitchers are in the league, that is a huge failure of the Twins organization. Is there someone I am missing?
  20. Thanks, Seth for this report, although I am getting to it a bit late. What impressed me the most was that they spent real dollars, although not huge dollars, to sign a boat load of decent prospects. Is there a Luis Arraez in this bunch. Won't know for probably 6 or 7 years, which is well past the shelf life of many of us here. But with this number of good prospects there is a real chance. But thanks again, I loved it.
  21. Curious, Seth, why we haven't seen Jenkins in the Saints lineup the last few games? Has he been playing thru a minor injury? Mentioned yesterday, but wanted to say thank you to you personally for all you do for us farm club fans. It has become the highlight of our day since the end of July. Thanks!
  22. What surprised me the last two nights was how long Rocco stayed with Zebby and Taj. Don't recall him letting pitchers stay in games through several big innings. Announcers kept saying he was allowing them to battle thru and learn from it. Was that it? And does that make sense? Cannot tell you how pleasantly surprised I have been with Martin's play the last few weeks. Both his bat and defense have improved to the point that you look forward to him being in one of the top two lineup spots. Expect he will get better defensively if the Twins let him stay in the outfield and concentrate on left and center fields. Looking at his stats in this morning's paper I noticed that he has had 9 (of 12) stolen bases in 147 plate appearances. Take that out to a full year of say 500+ plate appearances, he would steal over 30 bags. We always thought he should be able to steal a lot of bases. Is good seeing that happen. Now if he can only eliminate most of his base running mistakes, he will be a huge asset for the Twins come 2026.
  23. Don't know what to think about EmRod. Want to believe he will report to spring training, play very well and win a job with the Twins. On either opening day or soon thereafter. But every spring we get all excited about him, then forget he exists as he is missing from his team's lineup for weeks or months. Personally, I question the people doing their national Top 100 lists that include him because he seems to never be on the field. On the other hand, I pray the Twins will finally find some luck and this young man will put his injury problems behind him and play 140-150 games in 2026, most with the Twins.
  24. Interesting. Don't recall if Dominguez was one of the bigger signees a year ago, was he? Or was he signed in 2023? Clicked on his name and see he is 18+ and from Mexico, which was a bit of a surprise.
