  1. You state that the debt if from Carousel motors, which they are selling. Wrong. Had the wifes Q5 in for servicing yesterday, asked when the Pohlad's sold. The person I was speaking with said it was about two years ago that it was sold. Don't know where you are reading reports that the debt is from Covid/Carousel. I recall reading a piece in the Strib business section this past summer. Or maybe it was spring. Anyway, the professional reporter was clear that 100% of the Twins debt was from the Twins operations, including money they have invested into Target Field over the years. But I guess you will choose to believe what you read here and elsewhere opposed to a professional business reporter.
  2. Agree with your thoughts, tony. But it is gonna take longer than a month for the biggest change. We don't know what Falvey's marching orders were from Joe. Expect it is different today. Assuming their operating plan is changing, he will need time to either get on board or be out the door. With spring training now less than 60 days away, today isn't the time to make a change. Personally, I see the current Front Office as having about 6 months to get on board with whatever change is going to happen which time would be approaching next summer's trade deadline. By then they will also know more about the 2027 season. If a change of the front office is going to happen, I see it being later next summer. As for smaller changes, hopefully we will see a few over the winter. Will they be bringing in a few more free agents? If so, how much will they spend? Will there be a few trades? Makes sense to trade a few players from positions like the corner outfield for a bullpen arm. Or two. Are we going to see changes in the support staffs? Minor league coaches? Scouting, etc?
  3. Key to this move is how much as that may, or may not, have an effect on what bullpen arms are signed. Anyone heard what the contract is?
  4. Every day there are numerous articles about who the Twins should/could trade for player X. I found today's piece by Cody interesting and expect that's what the Twins will be working on the next month or so. But I look forward to the day when I come to TD and actually see that the Twins did something. Kind of like going out in the below zero cold to get today's paper and seeing that the Wild traded three very good young players plus a first round pick for one great defenseman. Not sure how that's gonna work out. Will tomorrow be the day I see something like that from the Twins when I come to TD in the morning?
  5. My question is whether or not one of the Twins excess corner outfielders would be a match for Mountcastle? Seems to me either Wallner or Larnach would be a fair swap that solves a logjam for both teams. And in Larnach's case, he will be making less than Mountcastle, but not all that much less to be a good budget fit.
  6. If I recall, Lee was rushed to the Twins a couple years ago. Then he missed a lot of time the last two years with injury. When he was moved to short, I thought he appeared more comfortable than he did at other positions. Will that mean he will become a solid/average defender? Don't know, maybe. Keaschall also was rushed a bit and then missed a good chunk of the season with a broken arm. And that was after having TJ surgery the previous year. Considering the Twins corner outfield logjam, lets give this young man a year to mature at one position, ie, second base. I see Keaschall as one player who the Twins need in their lineup every day. Will say the same about Martin. Those two at the top of their lineup could make for an exciting season beginning in the first inning of each game.
  7. Yes. If you would have read several older articles in the Star Tribune business sections you would have seen that all the blog posts about the Twins debt coming from their other ventures is false. Personally, I will take the word of the professional business writers in the Strib over any/most people posting on this and other sites.
  8. Thanks for the information, Jamie. But it is way tooo early for most of us to give this a lot of thought. With that said, sure appears your top guy would fit well with the Twins as he struggles hitting low and outside breaking balls. I really don't need to watch another Twin player with that hole in his game.
  9. OK, the winter meetings are over. And what have the Twins accomplished? 1- Picked up a solid middle innings reliever in a trade for a lower-level prospect. 2- Picked up a backup catcher with some big-league experience in another trade. 3- Confirmed that they do not plan on trading any of their best players while working to add to the roster, most likely in the bullpen and a power bat (maybe a first baseman?) 4- Got the third pick in next summer's draft. 5- Opened a spot on their 40-man before picking an interesting catcher in the Rule-5. Then traded him to San Francisco for a promising 17-year-old catcher leaving the roster at 39. 6- Gave us the impression that we will know who the two investors are within a week or two. Actually a promising start to the hot stove season. Now will they actually follow thru and give this team a chance in the Central Division?
  10. Agree with nick that there would be a question as to what they could get for Ober. Should someone make a reasonable offer, however, that move would be interesting. Perhaps an Ober trade would make more sense come July. Of all the posts of late, this one was the most interesting. Thanks. Meanwhile I continue waiting for the Larnach trade for a reliever to be announced.
  11. Being an old time hotel guy who competed with Motel 6 over the years, all this Motel 6 talk brought a big smile to my face. With all the talk about Falvey staying at Motel 6 while in Orlando, I decided to check if the chain does have a property there. Considering Orlando/DisneyWorld is a huge destination, found there three Motel 6's in the Orlando area. But here is the biggest shock people, their rates range between $56 and $99. Had many discussions back in the early 70's whether it was wise to include a price in our name. Guess the '6' no longer means what it did in 1971. But I bet they'll still keep a light on for ya!
  12. Since I am never certain of the exact meaning of the laughing face, will go with my disclaimer, USAF. I only use it when I read a comment and get a good smile, as I did with the above comment. Thanks for brightening my morning. I don't use it in any negative fashion, which I expect is its intent.
  13. Is no one listening to the reports indicating that Falvey isn't going to cut more from his roster? Rather, looking to add? But yet, another daily article(s) indicating otherwise. Looking forward to being a fan of the 2026 Twins. With whomever is on that team.
  14. None of us have a clue what this FO plans are for developing next year's roster. We also don't know if there is any substance to the reports Buxton is changing his mind on remaining a life long Twin. Assuming that is the case and the Mets are an option, Falvey must begin his conversation by stating the return we will accept begins with McLean, plus another player. Second player doesn't need to be someone listed above, but must be part of their top 10 or 12 prospects. If they aren't willing to include McLean, no need to continue talking. As for a replacement for Buxton, the Twins have several outfielders who are playing center in the minors. Gotta believe Jenkins or EmRod could both play quality defense until such time as they find their next stud defensive center fielder.
  15. What a wonderful comment, tarheel. From one 80 something guy to another, enjoy your walk, day and the rest of your life.
  16. I am hopeful that all the 'rumors' around Buxton's willingness to waive his no-trade clause are hot air. I remain confident that Buxton will be the Twins centerfielder in 2026 and years after. I also believe that in his heart he wants to be a Twin for life. He likely wants to see the Twins make at least one smart trade, say Larnach, plus, for a reliever. Should they then sign a couple more guys, say a first baseman and another solid reliever, for $10-15M and the Twins could have a nice 2026. That's assuming the new coaching staff gets more out of several very good young players who didn't deliver much last year. [Edit: want to add one more comment, if the Twins do trade Buxton they should also go full rebuild and trade both Pablo and Ryan. They must get at least two top 100 prospects (plus another low level prospect) in each trade with one from each trade ready to join the Twins at some point in 2026.]
  17. Expecting that the most important activity for the Twins at next week's winter meetings is that their ownership situation should be finalized. Shouldn't it? Perhaps when we know who the new partners are we may have a better idea of what direction this team will be headed.
  18. Very interesting report, Nick. When they added the 40-man guys the other day I took a look at the roster. Was pleasantly surprised when looking at the pitchers that there weren't any of the 19 who were guys who clearly didn't belong. The only problem I also noted was that 19 was a couple pitchers too few. With the winter meetings ahead, will be interesting seeing how many of the seven you mentioned are with the Twins come the opening of spring training. If it is most, booooo! Like others, I see a couple who have a reason to stick. But at least five of those guys should be long gone. There area a couple not mentioned who should also be moved. Hopefully, for something of value in return. Did anyone else notice yesterday's trade of Sonny Gray to Boston? Guess that takes one landing spot away for a potential Ryan trade. Or does it? Must admit it didn't seem like a top return for the Cards. Is Gray viewed as being on the back end of his career?
  19. Great report, Cody. Thanks. My one question is whether there were others that merit discussion taken in the later rounds? Or is another report coming? A team does very well if they can get one solid or better starter out of every draft. Add another pick who is a solid player for at least six years along with a couple guys who get some playing time and you have a good draft. Sure looks like this draft has the makings of having at least two who will become very good makes it a plus draft, assuming that happens.
  20. Add me to those above curious if there is any information, anywhere, about Canterino? Seems to me they still would like to see Prielipp as a starter. Doesn't mean he can't be stretched out to 3+ innings next spring, then brought up for the Twins Pen either to start the season or soon thereafter. Should he be used as an opener pitching 2-3 innings or a bulk guy pitching multiple innings, they should be able to get him in 40-50 games with 100+ innings. It would still be possible getting him into the starting rotation in the future. Would also like to comment on the references to Prielipp's numbers last year. If I recall, a lot of his games were dominant for a couple three innings, then he gave up X runs in the fourth or fifth as he was being stretched out. That would indicate the best return from him in 2026 may be out of the pen. As for Raya? Just don't know what to expect.
  21. I believe I saw somewhere today that the roster is set for the draft as of today. Hopefully, that is wrong. Does anyone know for certain?
  22. Is it possible Falvey tendered Larnach just to p..... a lot of us off? Considering keeping Larnach doesn't make sense to a lot of us, I have to believe Falvey believes there is a market for Larnach and he will be able to include him in a trade either over the winter or next summer. He must believe that his top prospects, GG, EmRod and Jenkins will need a spot to play come summer. That can only come by replacing at least one of Larnach and Wallner, likely both. There is no other answer that makes any sense. Is there?
  23. Considering they offered a contract to Larnach doesn't mean he will be with the team come March. The bigger issue to me is that they didn't remove anyone from their 40-man which means they will not be able to make a pick in the Rule 5. That must mean of all the players eligible to be picked, they didn't believe any of them are better than all the players on their current roster. Just because every once in awhile someone hits big on a player such as Santana or that guy with the White Sox last year, doesn't mean that caliber player is out there this year. Considering they would have drafted high this year, it is surprising to me.
  24. Thats why I included the language about their possibly needing to add a prospect to get that reliever.
  25. Where did you see that? Just checked the Twins website and Keirsey is still listed. This deal brought the Orioles 40-man down to 39. Seems they are doing a better job of cleaning up their roster than the Twins.
