Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 He will be taking Erv's spot in the rotation and starting on Monday. Good luck!
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 More details on roster moves. Gonsalves will pitch Monday.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Author Posted August 19, 2018 But who goes down?Ervin is heading back to the DL with his finger issue. We probably saw his last start with the Twins.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Author Posted August 19, 2018 Maybe it's a 2 day stint for Busenitz? Wouldn't be the first time they've done that to him.
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Good for him. I don't need to see any more of Ervin to see he's pretty much toast. At least for this season and his time with the Twins.
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 I'm looking forward to seeing how Gonsalves gets MLB hitters out. The high walks and high pitch counts to MiLB hitters aren't the most encouraging stats, but he has been phenomenal in every other area.

They should be able to come up with a good off-season program for him with 4-5 MLB starts.

I guess we will see if he can make his stuff play to this level and prove a lot of people wrong. Good luck to him.

Good luck to him.Yeah his stock seems to have fallen both nationally and among Twins fans this year. First it was the walk issues and now it seems the reports are that he pitches in the 88-90 mph range, where I previously remember the report on him being more 90-94. I'm very interested to see him pitch.
mikelink45 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 What will I do now. I have been posting bring up Gonsalves for two months - now he is up - hooray. So LaMonte - you are my next bring him up favorite. I really hope Gonsalves does well.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 I'm happy for him. I'll be in my usual spot watching the game in full support.
Platoon Verified Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 I'm happy for him. I'll be in my usual spot watching the game in full support. I quit wearing any support while I watched the games, not to speak of full support. Not only didn't the level of exertion require any, but I found that after the third or fourth inning it got to be binding and sweaty!
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Busenitz replaces Erv. Who does Gonsalves replace? I guess Stewart could go back down, deserved move, and we could play shuttle roulette until 9/1. Are there enough off days to avoid bringing up another starter? Maybe a BP game or an “opener” coming up?As of this moment there are four starters on the 25-man: Berrios, Gibson, Odorizzi, and Stewart. At first I thought it would be Drake who would go just because he's the oldest, but he hasn't allowed a run in his 5 appearances. I suppose they could send Busenitz back down after just 1 game but that doesn't seem right. I think they'll send out Stewart and go with a 9-man bullpen through Wednesday. Then on Thursday someone else will come up from the minors to start and a reliever, Busenitz I suppose, will go to the minors.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 I hope they DL Reed. Obvious that something isn't right with him. When he is right, he is a good RH option. Only 13 days until rosters can expand, so no new options should be used and they wouldn't want to DFA Drake (and probably lose him).

akmanak Verified Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 This is the move that should of been done before Stewart.
HrbekRules Verified Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 Every single item in that tweet is good news. I would argue one point that isn't good news, Grossman being DFA'd would be good news.
terrydactyls Verified Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 At this point, the Twins know what they have in Odorizzi. Why not send him to the DL with an "injury" and bring up Romero? Finish this season with a rotation of Berrios, Gibson, Gonsalves, Stewart, and Romero. If you need another starter, bring up Thorpe. Let the last 60 games be a closer look at what might be the 2019 rotation..
Thrylos Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 This is the move that should of been done before Stewart. Had he not pitched two days before... He would had to go on short rest, which is a no no .
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2018 Posted August 19, 2018 But who goes down?Duffey optioned.
Platoon Verified Member Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 Duffey optioned.Since that was a definitive post, I assume it happened. From what has been insinuated by some of the press, breaking that news to him never goes well!

I have to concur- Must have missed that tidbit. Why Wade isn't up instead is just another one of those Twink-perplexing moves. My God, if they activate Belisle again, I'll lose what's left of my mind...
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 Well, there I go, my head exploded. But even with bits of skull and brain scattered around the kitchen, I can't help but be happy for Stephen Gonsalves. The crafty lefty has deserved promotion for at least the last couple months, and now he gets to wear a Twins uniform. Congratulations, Stephen Gonsalves!Congratulations, Stephen Gonsalves! Oh wait, I already said that. Where's that remembering part, I gotta shove that back in... No, bad dog! Don't eat that!
