The other contenders all picked up the big name players I was hoping we'd get at least one of. But tbh if I was any of them, I'd rather go to the Red Sox / White Sox / Yankees / Guardians etc. rather than the Twins right now if I wanted a genuine shot at a world series title this year. But one or two big names was probably not going to be enough to make this team a World Series winning team if we're honest.

But still a promising sign for the Twins to buy and invest in an area of weakness. Even if it's just for the fans to make playoffs and give us hope for next year. Get some playoff experience in the young guys.

I'd still like to see some roster shuffling to put more pressure on the current guys to perform.

I'm a little surprised at the price given that he's making 12.5M next year.  It's a fine move, just sucks because you could've just paid people cash last offseason and avoided giving up cash and prospects now.

Still have 3 catchers clogging up roster spots, still have a plethora of average hitters who suck defensively clogging roster spots and even with the acquisitions, Cleveland did better and Chicago who is a much better team did about the same as Minnesota.

It’s gonna take a year or 2 to reverse the damage Falvey and Joe/Jim Pohlad created. 

At the very least, this deadline is the first example of Tom Pohlad investing in the team. I just hope the wallet doesn’t disappear this winter.

Anyway, not an earth-shattering deadline. truth be told GOOD. This team needs a year likely two to start throwing good or better prospects at MAYBE facing the Dodgers. Could have used another starter. With Matthews/Rojas/Prielipp as the 5th starter. things may be fine. Hoffman and Minter are good gets. Another two+ months of hope/complaining/ if we would haves. Been a fun year looking back at the last few.

 They might not be around much longer but they have been here for awhile

That's what I mean - they need to bring some prospects up and give them some game time asap. Rather than being in a couple of big names who will leave after playoffs if they get the opportunity and won't be core pieces long term...

There was some, yeah, but if we walked away from this "buy" with Hoffman, Minter, and Kramer......does anyone feel like we really "opened up the wallet" or did anything terribly meaningful?

This deadline feels like a half measure.  Admittedly I didn't want this course of action to begin with, and I don't have a problem with any of the trades necessarily (Kramer maybe....wtf?), but this didn't feel aggressive or significantly different to me.

It's a team with too many DHs, too many catchers, too many corner outfielders, and not enough in the pitching staff for me to feel terribly excited.

Again, fully admit it's probably my own bias but I'm underwhelmed at the end of the day.  The lost opportunity costs weren't worth this.

I'm with you. But, I understand why they did what they did. Not a fan, don't completely hate it, but not what I'd have done.

I know Hill was struggling with control this year, but I still hate giving him up. If he turns it around next year he will be the steal of the deal. To have given up what they did, I am thinking the Blue Jays might be paying Horrman's salary for the rest of this season and maybe some of it in 2027?  Especially after we gave them back some International Signing Money.

Still, I like that the Twins have a "True Closer" in Hoffman for the rest of this season and 2027.  Their back end of the BP is somewhat stable now.  That will help greatly this 2nd half and next year.

Still think it's very frustrating they failed to take advantage of dealing Ryan Jeffers in a catching frenzy market.  How could we not come to some kind of agreement with the Yankees?  I can't believe the Yanks are considering playing Ben Rice full time behind the plate.  Now, Jeffers walks with no where near the compensation we'd have gotten if we could have traded him.

Larnach is another head scratcher.  They barely decided to extend him an offer this off season, and he goes out and has a career year, maximizing his value.  They have Jenkins, Em-Rod and Gonzalez coming.  Where does Larnach fit with this team in 2027 and beyond?

I wish we would have shaken up thr offense as well, but after today the bullpen is in much better shape. Dare I say above average again. 

My hope is Culpepper and Jenkins are called up very soon to bring more athleticism to the lineup and field.

Don't disagree with age/stats, but you 100% cannot be successful with a 1.75 WHIP and other astronomically high advanced metrics. He's 50> innings with 15.4 K/9 BUT 7.4 BB/9, yikes. BABIP is over .410. A+ hitters have learned to wait it out and he's obviously working from behind and they sit on FB and are having HOF success on FBs. 

Makes me question if the Twins don't like something in the make-up and/or maybe they're unsure he's "fixable". Who, knows, but I have no problems with this. Klein may be a AAAA SP or a middie, but Hill has A TON of reliever risk on top of being probably 3+ years away. 75% of the college arms the Twins have drafted are already ahead of him.
