The dead and buried Twins have the chance to do the funniest thing this weekend... Three straight wins away from being back in this. Stranger things have happened (see: 2007 Colorado Rockies - which is pretty much what we have to replicate). This is why we watch sports. I'm just saying.

Well, looks like we’ll be 4.5 back of Cleveland on Friday. Too many teams in front of us-BUT: the Orioles and Toronto play each other this weekend. And Texas is at Arizona. There is still a path. Don’t shoot the messenger! 🤣

However, after 10% of the season, we had the best record in the AL. Just gotta finish like we started 🤣 j/k the AL was so bad after 16 games we were still only a few games above. 500.

lmao at those pesky A's taking 2/3 against Toronto. Everyone just thinking they can waltz into Sacramento and sleepwalk through a sweep. Got another thing coming! Took 3/4 in Seattle too. Respect ✊ Sweep Cleveland this weekend and the math says we still have a chance. It does!

People forget that 10 days following the fire sale, after Keaschall's walk off against the Royals, we were on a nice stretch and actually within playoff contention (somewhat) heading into a series against New York. Team was playing free and loose. Obviously didn't go well after that...

Well, not sad I missed this one. Fun fact, courtesy of Aaron Gleeman: We have the worst record in the AL (13-22) since August 1.

That was not a fun stretch of the season. There was a two-week run in late April/early May where the bullpen blew 4-5 very winnable games. Wish we had those Ws now!

Fair points. I'd have to look at the replay again, but it kinda looked like a hit that was either going to be caught or go over the wall.

Only the Twins would have both: 1) One of the AL's better RISP averages overall this season AND 2) The fifth highest percentage of solo home runs in all of baseball.

Speaking of execution: I didn't notice it at the time, because I was so bummed it wasn't a homer, but should Clemens have tagged up on Jeffers' flyout to get in scoring position and eliminate a double-play ball?

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think there was one out in that situation, and the runner on third probably tags up and scores if Larnach catches that. But, yes, to your point: the defense did Ryan no favors in those innings.

Jeffers' near-homer reminded me of the Pittsburgh game when we came back from 7 runs down only for Arcia to just miss a homer that would've given us a lead in the 9th.

I'm 43, was a hardcore Twins fan from '90 through around 2010. I've read several books on the team's history, didn't follow too closely from around 2012-2022 but was on board again for 2023, the epic collapse in '24, etc. So maybe this is my recency bias showing, but can any of you longtime fans recall a Twins team that has struggled more than this one in winning/finishing close games? The 9-65 record after the 6th inning is eye-popping. And it's not just failures in clutch hitting but all aspects. It was a problem of course in the early parts of the season, but for about six weeks from early June to the All-Star Break, we had done a much, much better job of closing games, especially the bullpen. But this part of the 2026 season has been so hard to watch lately. This season has gone from fun and rewarding to uber frustrating over the last six weeks or so. We truly had a shot at legitimate shot at the playoffs. I draw a line at the Mariners series when it started to go south, bad.
