h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted Sunday at 11:20 PM Posted Sunday at 11:20 PM The only thing that would have been more satisfying would be have been a sweep to give the Yankees a 10 game losing streak! Remember the 2021 Braves that looked horrible all the way to the end of July, and 5 games under .500? Eddie Rosario does! Full of injured stars, some out for the season, a few supposedly washed up vets were acquired cheaply, and they won the World Series. jmlease1 Verified Member Posted Sunday at 11:40 PM Posted Sunday at 11:40 PM Joe Ryan was awesome. Love seeing it. Any road series win is great, but against the hated Yankees? Outstanding. Brooks Lee had a nice game today. He's been scrabbling a bit at the plate but his season has improved after the move to 3B. His RH swing has been good this season, not sure why he's struggling so much overall from the other side, but days like this have to help him. Cleveland series is a pretty big one. If they can pick up some games here that would be a real move if they plan to be in this division race and/or push for a WC. Senior Softball Guy, Jeff K, bryceboylehoban and 4 others 7

Dman Verified Member Posted yesterday at 12:48 AM Posted yesterday at 12:48 AM I had them losing two out of three to Houston and the Yankee's, but the Twins went out there and proved me wrong. That is three straight series wins after being Swept by the Dodgers. If this team works its way to around .500 I just don't see them being sellers. This offense has been very surprising. Lot's of quality at bats leading to walks and hits. HR power is there too especially when Buck is in the lineup. Still if Matthews is out and Prielipp being babied along is there enough juice with Ryan and Bradley to keep this up? Gonna need Ober to better than the Ober we saw early in the season and hopefully they get Prielipp enough rest over the All Star break to keep going. The pen has been holding. It's gonna be a tight rope act to make it and we'll see where they are at the end of July, but they are still in the hunt for a playoff spot. Saxophone Joe and bean5302 2
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM Posted yesterday at 12:50 AM Yes, 6-0 and 5-1 is better than 4-2, but it was a great road trip! And I had my fingers crossed for 3-3. If the defense plays better and Ryan wasn't still worn out...I bieve he stated he was exhausted when he came out of that Astro's game...we very well might have avoided that crazy 6 run inning, which was really the game, and, and gone 5-1. Team effort all the way around. Discounting his 1 inning today, I believe he only played 1 game? Good for the team they could play well without Buck, but bad he hurt his hip again. Maybe it's just a "tweak" and he's only out a day or two? If not, a brief rest and brining Roden up is probably the smart move. In regard to @ashburyquestion, I'm pretty sure Buxton can't play if on the IL, but he can still attend the game. A few additional comments/observations: 1] Keaschall is starting to look pretty good in the OF. 2] Really encouraged by what I saw of Raya Saturday, blowout or not. His stuff seemed to be in control and showed real life. 3] Matthews was absolutely cruising before the cut on his foot. From a post game interview, he was trying to gut it out to save the pen. He was hurting and trying to step differently to take pressure off his foot. Undoubtedly, that explains his sudden loss of control. Thankfully, it's just a cut and he's expected to be OK for his next start. 4] Just watching his approach and how he plays, I think Fedko probably is a ML ballplayer, of the 4th OF variety. Bad luck, intermittent play, possibly pressing, he still hasn't hit. But he looks like he knows what he's doing in the OF and on the bases. But he's still probably going down now in order to shuffle the roster for Jeffers in a few days. They can't afford to lose Jackson, which is something I never thought I'd hear myself say. 5] Martin might not be dead and buried after all. But I think he's proven he's just not a daily starter by any means. 6] If Buxton does need an IL stint to rest, it won't be Jenkins for a list of reasons. It will be Fedko. 7] The last thing I want is for the Twins to "give up" on the season by moving Larnach and Bell. But Roden is more than ready. Rodriguez should be ready sometime in August. Jenkins keeps performing at a high clip. Mendez has been great all season, and Gonzalez has been good since an awful start to the year. You can't just promote them ALL at once. But you're really messing with 2027 and beyond if some of these guys don't start playing here in 2026. But does the team automatically "tank" if they replace Larnach with Fedko and Bell with Jenkins or OF "X" post deadline? Bring on Cleveland! It's time for a little payback since the Twins are playing some pretty good ball lately. Dman, Church of Kreidler, Punto4President and 2 others 3 2

His name is . . . wait for it .. Woo-Suk Go. I am not making that up. Pronounced ooh, suk go. Again, I am not making that up. Go is a 27 year old RH who came over in 2024 and struggled with the Padres and Marlins. He has rediscovered his form this year in the minors after the Tigers signed him and pitched well in AA and AAA. He has an assignment clause so the Twins have to put him on the 40 man, not sure if they have to keep him on the 26 man roster. We have an open 40 man spot so no corresponding move required. 95 MPH fastball, touches 98, with a good curve at 78-83 MPH. Late inning power stuff, dominant reliver in the KBO. His weakness? In a huge surprise, sometimes has control issues. Likely to replace Lawyerson or Funderburk. I say Lawyerson. Funderburk is LH so he stays until Rojas is ready to take his place. Hey, the Twins have had GRANT BALL-FOUR and James OUT-man, why not add Woo-Suk-Go. First we “woo” him and then… h2oface 1

He looks like Lewis did before they demoted him to AAA. He’s chasing garbage and unable to do damage on pitches in the zone.

It was the first inning, you are trying to score runs, I am not sure why this shouldn't have been done or why it is so careless. If a player plays they have to play at 100% effort. Questioning the strategy with a guy that’s just returned from being banged up is valid. The only reason he’s not “a Superstar” throughout baseball, with his talent, is due to a career filled with injuries & missed time. The wording the guy used to comment was harsh ………. sometimes, however, staying healthy & taking actions that promote staying healthy are the absolute right thing to do. The best ability is availability, as they say. Byron (MikeTrout as well) is the poster child for this premise. btw, I was hoping he’d run on 3-2 to avoid double play & get into scoring position……..but probably not smart
