  1. Many thanks for the explanation. I am still trying to understand many of these new stats and sabermetrics so your information is helpful.
  2. I can't get my head around some of these advanced stats that some of these posters are citing, but I though that this was an interesting and fun read. Who knows if this kid will stick around, but it sounds like he is off to a great start for someone so young.
  3. I agree on Rojas, We don't need him to pitch complete games, but just having him pitch some effective innings will be a big help.
  4. Quentin Young accomplished a dubious feat on Wednesday, collecting his 29th, and 30th errors of the season. Billed a raw prospect, the youngster may need an entire McCormick factory’s worth of seasoning on defense. Great description! Sounds like Young's future may be as a DH.
  5. I love both Millard Fillmore and guano history (and yes, the history of guano from South America really is fascinating!). Thanks for that. You made my day!
  6. As long as he's healthy --- and I agree, that is often a big IF --- I'd prefer to keep Buxton in center field. That's still the best place for him to play. Maybe Jenkins MAY become the starter at that position, but that is still speculation at this point.
  7. With Keaschall now in the outfield mix that makes the glut of players even thicker. We didn't lose any outfielders at last month's trade deadline, so there needs to be a cull in the near future.
  8. Yes, that would be a good duo. There is almost no way we see Jeffers in a Twins uniform next season, and I would be quite content to have Jackson back again. Plenty of young catching prospects in our minors, but none are ready for MLB yet.
  9. Gotta add my voice to the choir: great article, Parker! These types of articles that look into the reasons and mechanics of pitching changes really helps an old guy like me understand the current game much better. Very informative and helpful!
  10. Yeah, we had more hits than they did and the Twins still managed to leave 11 LOB. Should have been a much closer game in any case.
  11. I like versatile players, Willy Castro being one such good example. But sometimes I think this concept of switching players around from position to position, platooning, or whatever, certainly CAN hurt their development or play with their heads. Where I am playing this week? Players like Royce Lewis, Keaschall, Martin, and even Brooks Lee and Clemons seem adrift in the grand scheme of things. I really don't know the answer, but it seems like most players would like to know which position they are going to play for the next couple of years and stick with it, rather than trying to take on a new role.
  12. I agree. He's still young and seems to have the physical tools to play on the field, but where does he end up playing? Granted, it's still very early days to judge him as an outfielder, but then again I thought he would stick at second base.
  13. Whatever happened to Joey Gallo's plan to become a pitcher?
  14. I would assume that some team will claim him. He played well, albeit in limited innings this season.
