    Yep, we could certainly use Jeffers for next season as a catcher, but beyond that we won't need him unless he is used at DH or 1B. Too many good young catchers in our system who will or should be ready by 2028.

    That's a reasonable take, but I doubt the Twins front office would even factor that into their decision.

    I know that Soto keeps having injury issues, but they don't seem major ones at this point. Does it seem like he will be healthy heading into next season or is it too early to tell?

    I always enjoy your posts, and I respect your opinion so I'm asking this question out of sheer curiosity. Why will December be the timeline for the Twins to make any transactions? I realize the upcoming labor agreement and potential lockout is a factor, but I'm fuzzy about what sort of strategy the Twins will or won't have in regards to moves during this odd off-season. Do you think they will truly be active?

    Seeing Emma Rodriquez homer in his first game with the Twins was also a very fun moment.

    Those victories against the Yankees, although not important to our season, were satisfying indeed. And seeing the Rays nearly no-hit the Yankees yesterday in the playoffs was also sweet.

    I agree, but there won't be many other things to talk about during this potentially stagnant off-season.

    I fear that also. And that being the case, I can't foresee many teams, especially the Twins, going out and making trades or signing any free agents. I think it will be a long, dark winter --- and maybe spring too --- for us baseball fans.

    The biggest puzzle to me is why they didn't play Jackson more often. In the limited time that he DID play this season he performed well, certainly better than most thought he would. So why did he spend so much time on the bench when he actually was with the Twins? Another one of this season's mysteries.

    That may not have doomed our season, but his collapse was a big puzzle and it hurt us. And then after we let him go he ended up being released by how many other teams? What a total fall off the cliff for SWR.

    Thanks for that take. I'm an eternal optimistic and always hope/think that the Twins can compete for a playoff any given year. Although, the last time they truly delivered on my optimism was back in 1991! That said, I really DID think we would be competitive this season, and until the last month of the season we still were in the hunt for a playoff spot. So count me as one of the few who were disappointed by this season. But also count me among those who think we should and could do much better.

    Great comments! Love it! And in answer to the article's headline, put me in the NO camp. I don't think it would have made much difference this season at all. Sure, we MIGHT have had a handful of more wins with those two relievers, but a healthy Buxton and more production from Lewis would have been more of a factor in getting us to the playoffs.

    I remain a fan until teams that I totally dislike (see: Yankees and Dodgers) are playing. Right now, I'm rooting for Tampa Bay all the way!
