  1. Sorry, but I need to give a shoutout to Tyler Mahle. He's not having a great season but he was great last night, going into the 7th having given up just two runs on 6 hits and 76 pitches. He might have pitched a complete game on less than 100 pitches at that rate.
  2. Sax...yes, every win is huge. Someone has to come out of this mad scramble for the last playoff spot and that team should have enough momentum built up to make a run. It might as well be us.
  3. Good riddance Philly: get ye back to the land of the Liberty Bell, luscious cheese steak sandwiches, and the roar of certain crazed urbanites drag racing ATVs down Broad Street at night. Oh yes, they do! Do not darken our door again. Our flawed but interesting team was beaten three straight by a significantly better team...it's pretty much that simple. I think if we played ten times this year the Twins would win three, maybe. But...despite it all we remain only 1.5 games out of the last wild card spot that six teams are realistically vying for. My point is that the sweep was painful but not really surprising and that it certainly didn't mark the end of the line for the 2026 Twins. Now they must dig deep, play better, and hope to get hot in October. Considering all of the preseason naysaying this is really pretty exciting-yes?
  4. I'd call Buxton a mystery, but you are correct--he's really very predictable. He's occasionally brilliant, often injured, and prone to rather long slumps during which he seems incredibly easy to strike out on junk. Before the break I was looking forward to watching Buxton challenge Killebrew's single-season home run record of 49, but I should have known better. He hasn't hit one since June 22 and he's stuck on 25. Almost two months without a homer, how amazing is that? Even considering his time on the IL it's amazing. If things follow true to form he'll probably break out of his funk in from seven to ten games and become a world-beater again...let's see.
  5. You are correct. Not to excuse the ineptitude, but in addition to that the Phillies' lefty starter was very good especially when ahead in the count.
  6. Thanks...now there's one less mystery in my life. I enjoyed the reference to L. Frank Baum. As you probably know, in the novel Dorothy wears silver, not ruby slippers, and some believe that the book was intended as a Populist political allegory. This has nothing to do with baseball of course, but Baum fascinates me.
  7. I'm not sure how committed to that new policy they really are. Could you imagine them allowing Brandon Marsh, for example, to wear the pinstripes with his current lycanthropic look? Aw-oooh!
  8. sample, I've been trying to understand your avatar for years now--can you help me out? And by the way, I agree with you about Mr. Donaldson.
  9. The Wild play in an arena of about 18,000 capacity and the Twins in a stadium with about 40,000 seats...just saying. But you're not wrong--Minnesota is hockey country.
  10. He did a good job tracking the ball along the fence line and getting himself in position to make an important catch. He did not do a good job with the catch, however...it looks like he closed the glove a little early and the ball bounced off the back side of the last finger. It's always best to see or feel the ball hit the glove before closing it. By scoring one run we'd have lost anyway, but that was an awful moment in such an idyllic setting. Luke is a valuable and exciting young player who needs to find a home in the field somewhere--and the sooner the better!
  11. Yes, this is a true test coming up,,,three opponents in a row who are a combined 40 games above .500. I'll be happy with 6-6!
  12. Kreidler is looking more and more like Elmer Gantry than "Our Savior" I'm afraid...although I want to believe!
