I, for one, cannot imagine why they kept pitching to Alvarez. Were they trying to let him kill one of our firstbasemen? What kind of stupid idea was that?

Some of the comments on the game thread, those made me angry given their inappropriateness. I'll just stay out of those if they aren't winning biggly. Ugh.

(Today, we're secretly replacing Wednesday's Game Thread with this thread of rants, and will re-title it at some point tomorrow. Let's see if anyone notices.)

source, for any young'uns out there

He did seem to play with fire at times but it was usually one blow up inning, not so much an entire outing of it. There seems to be a pretty sizable gap between him and Lopez

Lopez has obviously been a stud so far this post season but Gray had better stats over the course of the regular season in many categories.

Not really anger, just disappointed. I expected to get a decent start from Gray, and he flat out didn't have it. Might be his worst start of the season. We still tend to to have significant issues scoring on a consistent basis. It's feast or famine, with too much famine. Strike out...or hit one out. That has to change. We just don't do a lot of the little things necessary to win games, when guys aren't going yard for us. It's hard to watch at times. We have another shot tomorrow and we desperately need Ryan to pitch well and keep the damn ball in the yard. If he doesn't, it's going to be a long winter.

IMO - if we hold the defending champs to 4 runs we have done well. HIT the FLIPPIN ball & be patient to drive up pitch counts.

Ryan will compete and he’s had a week or more to put a plan together v. this line-up. I expect reasonable results

They have Urquidy & France with ERA’s of 5.25 or higher for both. We need to chase them & get into their leverage guys so we are prepared for Friday.

Still in a decent spot with pitching lining up the way it has. Gotta be patient and mentally ready. I like the start moving back 3 hours to get this out of our system before Game 4.

Stats can be so deceiving.  We all know that.  It's what you do and when, that counts. How many times have we seen this or close to scenario: Walk, hit, strikeout, another walk, BOOM (3 run homer)back to back strikeouts.

Are you trying to say Gray wasn't good this year? Because I have no idea how anyone could say that

By Royce Lewis, I feel like we saw that scenario a lot of times this year.

I'm not really angry. This team exceeded expectations and there's just too many young guys being asked to go toe-to-toe with a baseball dynasty.

On a personal note, my dad went into the hospital on February 14th and was on and off a ventilator until he passed away on August 9th. I went and saw him nearly everyday. It was mentally and emotionally draining to see him like that. Baseball was such a pleasant escape for me and while I've been a Twins fan for over 30 years, this team was a special one for me because of the emotional attachment that I developed with it. Win or lose, I'll have fond memories of this group and how they helped provide a distraction during an otherwise horrendous time.

My concern coming into the playoffs was that our offense which is feast or famine would have a game or games where we have no chance to win because we just don’t do anything with the bats. Like last night.

Blessings to you in this path, and I'm glad you were able to spend significant time with your dad. I'm coming up on three years since Dad died (Oct. 31), and we plan to move Mom from assisted living to the memory care unit in the next week or so. Mrs. IT has been on a similar journey with her folks.

I'm with you -- baseball has been a good distraction from that kind of stuff. Bummed after yesterday's loss? Sure. But there's plenty of other injustices in the world to direct my anger at. I don't need another thing to get mad at, particularly something that I come to for enjoyment.

I mean, I really want to win, but it's all gravy from here.

I haven't felt this good about the future of the club since 2006.

I felt pretty good too until I realized that next year’s rotation could be lopez and a whole bunch of #5 starters. We see what it takes to win in the postseason and it’s tough even when you have two solid starters up front
