  1. I heard Jake Peavy and Jake Arietta are making some good headway in remodeling and renovating Jake Cave. Supposedly there wasn't enough room in the game room so they're taking some space from the kitchen. No word on how Jake Odorizzi feels about it yet.
  2. Always look forward to Friday mornings on TD thanks to you Stu. I think #8 on this list could be Jose Abreu and his beard hair tie. No one should be able to hit a ball that hard with facial hair like that.
  3. Gallo will be gone For all to cheer Every time he struck out I reached for a beer My liver with thank me Because I am now sober Thank you Joey for the memories But your time is now over
  4. I agree. But takes more than one season to become a "big boy". However the first step is progressive improvement seasons like the Twins had this year. The focus on next year is to have another step forward and not backwards.
  5. I guarantee outside opinions don't play a factor for Buxton, but maybe we all need to bring expectations to nearly zero for the 2024 season. I know we cannot overlook his contract situation, but if we just expect and assume he will play 60 games, everything after that is a plus. I'm a big Buck fan and it is difficult to see his performance and availability since he entered the league, but the very last part of me and somehow hoping he can turn the corner and be healthy all year next year - but then again I thought that every offseason.
  6. For some reason it seems to me that every time the Twins have expectations in the preseason, they flop during the regular season, and every time people are expecting them to do well and make the postseason, they flop in the regular season.
  7. I personally thought AJ was forcing it just a tad - which can happen with newer studio guys. I feel like there was times where a hitter just simply swing and missed, but AJ tried to dig into it on WHY he swung and missed, which is OK if it is a couple times here and there, but when it is constant it gets very old very quickly. Just my 2 cents.
  8. "Winning turns opinions, but winning doesn't often happen at once; it takes a foundation of success to become a powerhouse. We've seen the start; now it's time for Minnesota to relentlessly pursue their best." Like this last line says, they have their start. The streak is broken. Mainstream baseball media now knows the Twins can win baseball games in October. Before this year, it was always, "Sure they can make the postseason but they won't win any games." Winning the series against the Jays not only ends the angst Twins fans have every fall, but it is the foundation of something new. A new era is coming in Twins baseball, and whether it ends with a World Series or more heartbreak, I couldn't be more excited.
  9. Hello Twins fans, I am wanting to start following NHL more than I have in the past. In previous years, I would randomly check scores, read headlines, and maybe put a Stanley Cup game on as background noise when I was doing other things around the house. I understand hockey as a sport, but just do not know much about the NHL and their players (of course I know of the Crosbys, Ovechkins, Matthews of the league). I figure there is no other team than the Wild to start following, so what do I need to know? What I know (I think): Kaprizov is future of the franchise, if he's not the cornerstone already Fleury is a good goalie Please let me know any other vital information/storylines I should know about coming into this season. Thank you!
  10. As many of you well know, the Twins set the MLB record for hitting strikeouts in a season. This came to light in the playoffs as well, as they struck out 14 times in each of their last 2 games. In your opinion, what is the issue, and what needs to be done to fix it. It is either the strategic approach, coaching, or the players themselves. Strategic approach: something I think played a major part in the strikeouts, and something that is becoming very prevalent in today's game - FEAST OR FAMINE. Swing hard and swing heavy. If you swing and miss so be it, as long as you swing hard. Homeruns are king!!! Coaching: I'm honestly not to familiar with Popkins and the hitting staff and what their reputation has been when it comes to batter coaching. Players themselves: Some players just struggle with strikeouts - this somewhat ties with coaching as good coaches should be able to change and fix swings. I know all of these tie together, as coaches implement a strategic approach to the players, but in your opinion what needs to be done to fix the issue. Leave a comment and let me know!
  11. I am very much looking forward to constant speculation and guessing from TD and the community when it comes to free agency, offseason trades, and roster moves. I'm assuming this will be all of us by January.
  12. I think it is cool that it seems that Pablo loves being here. He doesn't seem like a guy who is just pitching for a baseball team just because he has to or because it is his job - I think this year he genuinely enjoyed Minnesota and the Twins family. Him growing up looking up to Johan is another very cool/full circle moment with him. Overall I am very excited to watch him continue to grow and continue to get better in the TC uniform.
  13. "or TC Bear (he knows what he did)" Not sure I can move on until we get an official statement and apology from him. Truly inexplicable. On a serious note, I was in attendance last Wednesday when the won the Wild Card. That moment on Duran's final pitch is something I will never forget. At minimum, this team rekindled the fire and passion for Twins baseball. I have multiple friends and family who in the past wouldn't pay much attention to the Twins other than checking the previous game score every morning - now they were actively talking about the games and watching the games with me. No matter what happens in the coming years, the 2023 Twins have rekindled something inside me and those around me.
  14. I know it is the playoffs and everything is higher stakes, but we have to stop overreacting after one game. The Twins are still in the series, and their season is not over. After their run is done, whether that be tonight or in November, we can all take a deep breath, then truly analyze what went right and what went wrong. The playoffs are a SERIES, not a single game - so why don't we all just enjoy the ride while we are here and see what happens.
