  1. I heard Jake Peavy and Jake Arietta are making some good headway in remodeling and renovating Jake Cave. Supposedly there wasn't enough room in the game room so they're taking some space from the kitchen. No word on how Jake Odorizzi feels about it yet.
  2. Always look forward to Friday mornings on TD thanks to you Stu. I think #8 on this list could be Jose Abreu and his beard hair tie. No one should be able to hit a ball that hard with facial hair like that.
  3. Gallo will be gone For all to cheer Every time he struck out I reached for a beer My liver with thank me Because I am now sober Thank you Joey for the memories But your time is now over
  4. I agree. But takes more than one season to become a "big boy". However the first step is progressive improvement seasons like the Twins had this year. The focus on next year is to have another step forward and not backwards.
  5. For some reason it seems to me that every time the Twins have expectations in the preseason, they flop during the regular season, and every time people are expecting them to do well and make the postseason, they flop in the regular season.
  6. I personally thought AJ was forcing it just a tad - which can happen with newer studio guys. I feel like there was times where a hitter just simply swing and missed, but AJ tried to dig into it on WHY he swung and missed, which is OK if it is a couple times here and there, but when it is constant it gets very old very quickly. Just my 2 cents.
  7. "Winning turns opinions, but winning doesn't often happen at once; it takes a foundation of success to become a powerhouse. We've seen the start; now it's time for Minnesota to relentlessly pursue their best." Like this last line says, they have their start. The streak is broken. Mainstream baseball media now knows the Twins can win baseball games in October. Before this year, it was always, "Sure they can make the postseason but they won't win any games." Winning the series against the Jays not only ends the angst Twins fans have every fall, but it is the foundation of something new. A new era is coming in Twins baseball, and whether it ends with a World Series or more heartbreak, I couldn't be more excited.
  8. Hello Twins fans, I am wanting to start following NHL more than I have in the past. In previous years, I would randomly check scores, read headlines, and maybe put a Stanley Cup game on as background noise when I was doing other things around the house. I understand hockey as a sport, but just do not know much about the NHL and their players (of course I know of the Crosbys, Ovechkins, Matthews of the league). I figure there is no other team than the Wild to start following, so what do I need to know? What I know (I think): Kaprizov is future of the franchise, if he's not the cornerstone already Fleury is a good goalie Please let me know any other vital information/storylines I should know about coming into this season. Thank you!
  9. I am very much looking forward to constant speculation and guessing from TD and the community when it comes to free agency, offseason trades, and roster moves. I'm assuming this will be all of us by January.
  10. I think it is cool that it seems that Pablo loves being here. He doesn't seem like a guy who is just pitching for a baseball team just because he has to or because it is his job - I think this year he genuinely enjoyed Minnesota and the Twins family. Him growing up looking up to Johan is another very cool/full circle moment with him. Overall I am very excited to watch him continue to grow and continue to get better in the TC uniform.
  11. "or TC Bear (he knows what he did)" Not sure I can move on until we get an official statement and apology from him. Truly inexplicable. On a serious note, I was in attendance last Wednesday when the won the Wild Card. That moment on Duran's final pitch is something I will never forget. At minimum, this team rekindled the fire and passion for Twins baseball. I have multiple friends and family who in the past wouldn't pay much attention to the Twins other than checking the previous game score every morning - now they were actively talking about the games and watching the games with me. No matter what happens in the coming years, the 2023 Twins have rekindled something inside me and those around me.
  12. I know it is the playoffs and everything is higher stakes, but we have to stop overreacting after one game. The Twins are still in the series, and their season is not over. After their run is done, whether that be tonight or in November, we can all take a deep breath, then truly analyze what went right and what went wrong. The playoffs are a SERIES, not a single game - so why don't we all just enjoy the ride while we are here and see what happens.
  13. Honorable Mentions: Duran Michael A Taylor Pete Maki John Schneider
  14. I remember when my brother and I got MLB the Show 2010 for the PS2 the very first thing we did was boot it up and load into a game at Target Field just to see the new stadium. Simple times back then 😂
  15. I'm with Cody - was just 4 years old at the time. My first vivid Twins memory was my first game at the Dome in 2009 against the Royals - all I remember is some guy named Carl Pavano was pitching for the Twins (it was his second start for the team at the time). They lost that game but the highlight of it was being able to witness a home run from my hero at the time - Joe Mauer.
  16. I already let my boss know I will be at my desk but I will not be "present" from 3:30 to the end of the day. WIN TWINS!!!!
  17. It is 9:08 AM as I'm writing this and I am already fighting nerves for the game. I've never wanted a single win more than I do right now.
  18. I always go back and forth in my head of who I want the Twins to play next week. In reality, I think it is impossible to know who the "easiest/weakest" team will be until the actual playoffs this year. Overall I'm a huge fan of fresh new faces, so these playoffs are lining up to be an exciting one regardless of what happens with the Twins. If somehow the Mariners and Jays sneak in and knock the Astros out of the race that would be the icing on the cake, although it would be very satisfying if the Twins were the team to send the defending champs home in the Wild Card round.
  19. Legend has it Cuzzi's hairless cat is the same black cat from the 1969 Cub's black cat curse.
  20. I think it will be vital to turn to guys like Correa and Vazquez in the playoffs. These are guys that have "been there, done that" and they have the playoff experience needed to lead a young team. Like Cody mentioned, Polanco is another guy that can be looked to for leadership. Even if someone like Vazquez doesn't play every game, his leadership in the dugout and the clubhouse is something that will be vital for the Twins to make a deep run.
  21. In my opinion if the Twins decide to do 11 pitchers and 15 hitters, Larnach and Luplow are gone if those 3 are added. If they go to 12 and 14, then I think you're right and Stevenson appears to be the odd one out. If either of those 3 (Buxton, Correa, Lewis) are unable to play or do not make the roster, then I think Stevenson becomes the next man up no matter what.
  22. So what happens in the bottom of the 9th in a tie game and Jeffers or Vasquez leads off the inning and draws a walk? If Castro and MAT are already in the game or have already appeared, we just leave Jeffers there and hope for a ball in the gap? Do you realize how much pressure that takes off a pitcher not having to worry about a runner? And to answer your question 12 pitchers for a best of 3 series is overflow in my opinion and teams can get by with 11, having Stevenson as your 15th hitter.
  23. You absolutely need a spot like this for October. Late in the games it is vital to have someone like this come in the game as a pinch runner, put pressure on the pitcher, and steal a base - or maybe even a run. Look at someone like Terrance Gore and how vital he was for multiple teams in the postseason. With the Twins lack of speedsters, I think Stevenson is someone that should be a near lock.
  24. Completely agree. Often times it is easy to try to change an approach when it comes playoff time. I think the key is to just stick with what you know and what got you there. Of course, there will be certain different aspects in the playoffs vs the regular season like the amount of starting pitchers you utilize and what not, but in general, teams should stick with what works for them.
