  1. 1979 had co-MVPs with Willie Stargell and Keith Hernandez sharing the NL award. I wonder how close we get to that again with Betts and Acuna this year.
  2. Let's just wait to see the full diagnosis and then we can appropriately react.
  3. They'll have to cut Correa's leg off to stop him from playing come playoff time. He's not sitting.
  4. Sonny not winning the award doesn't take away his great season. At the end of the day, Gray has had a great season, but Cole has just been better - it is what it is. I'm sure every pitcher in the Twins clubhouse would take a Commissioner's Trophy over a Cy Young anyway. For someone like Cole, it is likely his main focus now that the Yanks are out of the playoff chase. There is more to play for and more to earn for Gray and the Twins in October.
  5. It could be that I just haven't watched enough Seattle games, but for some reason the Mariners don't frighten me the way other teams do. Yes, they have very good starters, but their lineup seems weak compared to the 1 through 9 depth and power a Rangers or Astros team can put out. Then again, like I said, I haven't watched too many M's games to really dive deep into what they can do.
  6. Pitchers hitting is a big one for me. I get there can be an added strategy with pinch hitting and double switches and what not, but everyone benefitted from letting the hitters hit and the pitchers pitch. (However, I do miss Big Sexy at the plate)
  7. Good reminder that while we can always pick at little things to complain about in concern with the Twins, there are always teams and fanbases that have it much worse. That being said, I don't think I could pick a better team than the White Sox to have a bleak situation. Go Twins!
  8. As much as I absolutely love the deep dive into matchups and team builds, often it means nothing. How a team plays for their first 162 games often doesn't translate to how they play in October. Teams get hot and cold. Some players rise to the occasion and play out of their minds, while others cannot handle the pressure. I think the best thing to do is to come into the playoffs with zero expectations for any teams (other than the Braves IMO) especially with all the ups and downs different teams have had so far this year. Even the Dodgers and Rays have looked flawed at times. That's what gets me excited as not only a Twins fan, but a baseball fan in general for the playoffs this year. Its all about who gets hot at the right time - anything can happen.
  9. One of these three teams (four, including Houston) will miss the playoffs. Which fanbase would be the most disappointed if their team missed out? Texas obviously had their blistering start to the year, how big of a let-down would it be if they watched the playoffs from their couches? Seattle just broke their playoff drought last year - I don't think their fans want to start a new one. Toronto seems to have always been in Boston and New York's shadow the past decade plus. Now that the Sox and Yanks are gone, the Jays are still in a shadow, just cast by other teams. Houston has a 1.5 game division lead and are reigning champions - surely a late collapse that knocks them out of the playoff race would be the most disappointing? Let me know your thoughts!
