Buxton and Adrianza to IL; Cave and Arraez recalled

Let's see if Cave can bring some life into this lineup, and hopefully Buxton will only miss the 7 more games he needs to now.

Figured this was coming. A lot is different from this new regime, but waiting 4-5 days to put an injured player on the DL remains the same.

Off-topic, but being a kid when Grover was the main character, seeing Elmo years later when nieces and nephews etc were watching it, I always felt Elmo came  from hell.    The Tickle Me Elmo phase confirmed that.

Yes - it is a loss, but I do think they have enough depth there to lessen the pain.  Feel bad for him though.

Ten days we can navigate, but if this seemingly minor injury keeps him out half a season (as has often been the case with fragile Mr. B.), followed by a few weeks of rehab, then we have a problem.

At least he didn't do this running into the outfield wall, so no one can blame him for it!

Maybe it's just me, but this is very worrisome.

Wrists/hands with hitters...not good. But, it seems an 'impact' injury (ball hits and bruises/breaks stuff) would have less risk of long-term ramifications than having ligament/internal stuff going on with the wrist. (Which is what I think Kirilloff has going on). Not much more than a guess...but anyway, it's where my head's at.

Is it different with other teams? Does anyone have doctors that can evaluate a wrist on the day of impact or day after and know precisely whether an IL stint is warranted?

With lefty Price on the mound tonight, we likely won't see Cave this evening unless he's pinch running. Buxton's loss has been felt on this team, no doubt.

10 game leads certainly make these injuries easier to swallow. Hope Bux comes back healthy pronto.

Crapping time for Buxton to miss with respect to missing Boston’s two lefties today and tomorrow.

Gotta feel bad for this kid-seems like an injury crops up every year just when he seems to figure things out.

Wrist issues are always worrisome.

Yeah, and honestly Buxton's success always seems so...fragile. Fleeting. Easily disrupted.

A week and a half off (if that's all it is) for most hitters is no big deal. I hope it isn't for Buxton either, but...

With the minimum stint down to 10 days, if you can't play by day 3, you go on the IL IMO.

Isn’t that what they did? I think he missed three games. He can return June 25.

I don't know if it was mentioned in the game thread, but Luis Arraez is back, replacing Ehire Adrianza, who was placed on the injured list with "abdominal issues", according to ESPN.

I don't know how serious Adrianza's problem is, but good to have Arraez available at AAA. Turtle remains in Rochester for now.

I can assure you everything was discussed in the game thread last night.

Well except for the game of course.

Without a doubt it's a bigger concern because it's Byron "Mr Glass" Buxton... but I think he might be a little tougher with all that extra bulk this season. After that spectacular wall crash a few weeks ago, I fully expected him to go on the IL until 2022... but he was back in the lineup a day or two later.

That wall hit was bad.
