It’s hard to find a team more plain, uninteresting, and irrelevant as the Minnesota Twins. You know when you’re trying to name all 30 baseball teams and you’re stuck on 29? That team you can’t remember is the Twins. Bloop hits? That’s so Twins. Changing from one right-handed reliever to another right-handed reliever with two outs and nobody on in the ninth? That’s pretty, pretty Twins. They’re 4-1 on the season, but nobody actually remembers anything they’ve done thus far. So there’s that.

When did Royals' fans get so 'uppity'  I hope when we win our third World Series we don't become this

For a team that's on pace to go 65-97 and employs the likes of Chris Owings, Lucas Duda, and a lesser known Dozier I'd say.... takes one to know one!

So when you drop 2 straight to a plain, uninteresting, irrelevant team, what are you going to do against serious competition? This is great and the more other teams' fans who feel this way, the better.

I remember in 2014 when the Twins lost of 3 of 4 to the last place Texas Rangers at home, I angrily cried out "I can't believe that we just got beat by the worst team in baseball!" and someone answered "Than they're not really the worst team right now, are they?"

Miami, Baltimore, Kansas City...might be a battle down to the wire to see who picks first in the draft.

And this guy can look forward to a season of electrifying performances from their staff ace what's its name. Kelly or something.

I get it they lost a couple of winnable games to a team that put lot's of guys on base but couldn't drive most of them in.  Yeah some bloops and bleeders but they also absolutely scorched some balls as well.  Feels like a bit of a sour grapes response to two tough losses.

I agree the Twins aren't in the top ten of well known clubs but is anyone in the central a team you can remember?  Sure the Royals have had some recent success but they also were the laughing stock of all baseball for about 20 years.

As for the 4-1 and nobody remembers anything they have done so far, wouldn't that pretty much apply to all 30 teams.  It is the start of the season so these early game don't mean that much just yet.  I don't get the point they are trying to make.

I guess when your team doesn't win you have to find something to bring the other team down?

Eh, grain of salt and all that. Reminds me of game threads where certain authors would rip on the opposing team. Not that I would know anything about such things.

Looks to me like the author was just trying to be funny.

The post would qualify as only mildly annoying coming from a fan of most any other team. But Kansas City? Really? In 2019? That guy must be on some strong drugs.

In the modern era of everybody-has-a-blog, some writers think the only way to be get attention is to make ridiculous statements.

Im not sure i can believe what i read, but aside from the George Brett era were they ever really a threat too anyone except for like maybe 2014-15?.

I hope the Royals go 8-154. (Those six wins would be against the Yankees.)

I think we wouldn't mind the Royals getting some wins versus Cleveland too, and maybe a few other clubs as well. That would boost the relative value of the Twins wins over the Royals. :)

Damnit, the folly in my fun.   :banghead:

with the likes of Diekman, Boxberger, and Kennedy anchoring their bullpen they will be poster boys for ineptness. That's not the kind of attention anybody would want.

I can’t stand those snooty, East-Coast, major-market, media-drawing Royals. Oooh leading off SpotsCenter and the lead story in The Athletic every day; whoopty-doo!

I bet they even use cloth napkins to blot the barbecue stains off of their overalls.

I suspect everyone in Kansas City will wish they could swap us teams by the end of the year.

I think you're being too kind. I'd bet good money they would swap us teams in another 3-4 weeks.

You are being kind.   Royals went 28 years without a playoff berth.   In the 20 years before there two year window of relevance in 2014 and 2015 they had two winning seasons and even with those winning seasons their average record in that 20 years was 69-93.   I repeat, their AVERAGE record in that 20 year span was 69-93.

Ok, that aside, I actually kind of admire their fan base.   Through 30 years of misery the fans continued to support them.   Most of the KC web sites I visited  during those lousy 28 years were filled with faithful. loyal and well behaved fans.

they should be allowed to beat Cleveland, Chicago, and Detroit too...

Yeah, I get it. Those had to be painful losses which make the vitriol flow like wine.  :D

Righty for Righty? Well I think he was trying to limit May's pitch count around 25, which seems to be common and all we had available was another righty.  Add to that he is grooming Harper for the closers role and it's easy to understand.  Also, if you look at Baldelli's usage of the bullpen it seems to me that the rule changes for next year would have very little effect on us next year.

The sad thing is KC fans have seen not just a world series appearance but an actual win in it as well recently. Think about that, the model franchise for basically "what not to do" in baseball operations for 30+ years still has that over us.

Actually, every AL Central fanbase can say that but KC being able to makes me feel worse.

I hate the White Sox. I take cheap shots at them.

I think this is the way it is supposed to work.  :)

Hating the White Sox is the only unwritten rule in baseball that I respect.    You could post "I hate the White Sox" in the comment section of any article here and you would get a like from me.    As far as the Royals blog its like my mom trying to trash talk.     You just chuckle, pat her on the head and say "nice try".
