Neil Ramirez has been outrighted. He's been taken off the 40 man roster but apparently already cleared waivers, so the Twins will send him to AAA.

To fill his spot, Buddy Boshers will return. I know most people here and I really wanted Chargois to be called up, but Boshers definitely deserved to come back as his numbers this season have been sharp at both the MLB and AAA levels. Hopefully Chargois will be up soon, though.

I believe this leaves the Twins with 3 spots open on the 40 man roster. So many open spots... what could they do with them?

According the linked article, the Twins are carrying 3 left-handed relief pitchers on the MLB squad. Abad, Rogers and now Boshers.

I suspect one of them is not long for the organization. Perhaps Abad is going to be traded? (originally I had Abad as a possible DFA, but that didn't seem to make any sense.

It definitely makes sense to move Abad now. We already have a lefty who should be good in the long run (Rogers) and that leaves two guys on minor league deals, so trade the one who has more value right now. Then, after Abad goes, call up Chargois.

Rogers to the starting rotation and Milone is gone? (Seems unlikely. This is just speculation based on Bremer mentioning that the Twins see Rogers as a starter)

Yeah Roger's been sneaky good. He's looked great against lefties and held his own against righties from what I've seen. Hope he's more of a Duensing than a Thielbar.

To the rotation is bananas though. A lot more would need to go wrong in my eyes to consider that.

I think that this is a lead indicator of how different than Ryan, Antony would be as a GM, and answers plenty of questions about what the Twins would do with Antony at the helm...

Ugh. What the hell is wrong with this front office? Call up Chargois and be done with it.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

I know this is just one move, but so far it seems Antony would just be a near exact continuation of Ryan.

Even if Abad gets traded, there is no excuse not to call up Melotakis (who btw is back from his early season issues and pitching well at Chattanooga,) instead of someone who will not be part of the Twins future.

Is Antony trying to build trade value for Boshers so he can get a  D-level prospect instead of nothing?  Only thing I can think of that may (and it doesn't) remotely make sense.

4 LHP on the Active roster--sounds like there's a hors d'oeuvre tray for a potential trade partner.

That was exactly what I thought when I saw the title of this thread. Ugh. Really? Ugh.

Maybe Boshers is a more loveable guy than Chargois?

It would be pretty ironic if your first name is Buddy and you're not a loveable guy..

Ramirez cleared waivers so that process was started when Terry was still around and likely this was decided before he left. At this point it is non impact move of the Terry arranging deck chairs norm. Now if it leads to another bigger move that may be more telling of changes in MO.

This move does little for me either way. I'm assuming this is to show him off to other teams to try and trade him. I'd like Chargois up but I'm not going to get worked up about it. Once the trade deadline passes, which is only a week and a half away, and the moves have been made or not made I'll be more opinionated.

So I'm fine with the team giving looks to guys they need to decide on right now. Polanco, Wimmers, and Buddy. Along with varg. I'd maybe give them a peak before calling on shaggy and Melo and Hildenberg.

Seems like teams are always looking for value bullpen arms at the deadline so I agree it has to be an attempt to get something for him at the deadline.  If no takers at the deadline then hope Buddy pitches well and try to sneak him through waivers to trade.  Otherwise if he pitches well we hang onto him next year?

Not to point out the obvious, but the correct move is to bring up Boshers and give him playing time before the trade deadline. He played well prior to his demotion and now needs to reestablish his value. If the team is in a selling mode, you want to feature the players you are moving. Chargois can be brought up after the trade deadline or when a spot has been opened up.

Good point. Waivers are 48 hours, at least they were when Milone and Fien were waived earlier this season. Ramirez was likely waived Sunday, before the TR dismissal.

1. Boshers will pitch no more than three times before the deadline. His value is what it was.

2. The Twins are bursting at the seams with Boshers-type pitchers. If another team wants one of those guys, the Twins already had one on the roster with a longer track record.

Losing Ramirez was smart. Bang on Boshers if you want, but the guy has pitched very well at Rochester and was solid for us. He was only sent down due to a crunch. No problem with his coming back up.

And it's only oneive, the first move, and only a couple days after TR was dismissed. Chargois will be up, and probably really soon. Patience.

I agree patience is important - and I'm one of the more patient posters on the board - but it's getting ridiculous. The way this pitching staff has been managed is infuriating.

On the bright side, they were also able to keep Ramirez. He was very good in 2014 and until he got hurt in 2015. I like that they went through the process and were able to keep him. Hopefully he can find his form  again post-injury and do what he did before. Worth the shot. Used the system to their potential benefit.

And yeah, I would like to see Chargois up too (obviously, based on the article I wrote yesterday). But I have no problem with Boshers coming back. I know he's an indy league guy, but he's become a better pitcher in the last year. I have no problem with him getting another opportunity And yeah, after my initial shock, my next tweet was:

Then ...

I wouldn't bring up those guys to put them in the closer's role, just to get them into big league games.

Don't disagree Brock. Not a bit. And if more doesn't change soon, I will also become equally frustrated and be loud about it. But this is correcting one bad move. I'm just saying no-one should be bent that this is the first move.

Heck, I'm tickled they jumped in and move this quickly, even if it's a small one to start.

This is the reward for giving up 5 runs, including a grand slam, and blowing the game a couple days ago. Yeah, I know they were unearned, but that was just because of a leadoff error, and all of the runs were with two outs. It was a horrible outing.
