Look forward to the announcement of Kreider's DFA. I can only assume they are just using this as a tip of their cap toward him, so that he'll re-sign as org depth after his release.

On deadline day, the Twins sent Correa back to the Astros in exchange for the southpaw Mikulski. The Twins knew what they were getting, and that was a whole bunch of cost savings to Correa over the coming years.

OK, I read all of those words and I think I know what they all mean but I still have no idea why Mikulski was included. Did he piss someone in Houston off? Was he caught in a bad stalking situation and they were doing him a favor? Is he dating Falvey's niece?  They sent that other Lopez to Miami a few years ago to be near his kid's doctors, but this one comes with no backstory.

Mikulski.  He posted a 10.13 ERA in six games with the Kernels and had 13 walks, two hit batters and seven strikeouts in his 5 1/3 innings in Cedar Rapids

15 base runners in 5 1/3 innings and they cut him???

Just when we think we can't pick up worse players than Outman and Gasper Falvey says "hold my beer".

Correa salary dump is complete.

I'm curious to know, how Carlos performed after the trade? Did he suffer any injuries? Were his numbers much better than Lee's?

My best guess:  they wanted a player coming back just so they could technically call it a trade, so the Astros sent literally the least valuable healthy player in their system as the return

I'm all in favor of claiming players that might will a positional need or have some sort of reclamation value, but I honestly don't see any reason why the Twins claimed this guy and put him on the 40-man roster.  Most puzzling move.

I'll be surprised if he remains on the 40 man.

However,.. he plays SS and CF and our SS depth chart is pretty scary.

It's kind of like grabbing a plastic bottle of motor oil to protect yourself against an intruder in your garage... because you haven't got anything better to protect yourself with and you hope you don't have to use it.

Just relax folks. He's nothing more than a AA or AAA depth piece we snagged pre rule 5. Even as stupid as ownership is, even as stubborn minded as the FO is, this is ONLY a simple BS move made in regard to hopefull MILB depth. This is only "get in the front of the line" for a Disney Small World ride.

We'll probably never hear about him again, save some MILB reports. If even then.

Don't be so sure - I would have said the same for Gaspar and Bride.  Falvey might want him so he can claim to be a talent genius.

The Carlos Correa salary dump is not complete.  Keep in mind the Twins will be paying Houston Astros 10 million dollars per year for each of the next three years as part of the dump.  Im sure that 10 million will be figured into their payroll the next 3 years.

We all have ptsd from the past season combined with the last several years of roster builds. Kreidler might be a real gentleman but we see this move and have real thoughts ..... Is this the big offseason move?

Something is rotten in the state of Minnesota Twins fandom. What is our limit?

Minnesotans are too gullible & trusting, they'll believe anything. Spoken as a Minnesotan. It's time to wake up.

Falvey is terribly slow on things that need to be done quickly. But awfully fast on deals like these.

Twins got lucky when someone persuaded Baldelli to invite Castro to ST. He did very well, yet Twins still didn't want to put Castro on the 40-man. Fortunately for Castro & Twins fans, due to injuries, he was selected. Now they think they can reinvent that luck. It doesn't work that way. You need true player evaluation.

He will likely be DFA’d with hope of getting to AAA. His glove is a good one and it keeps him on the fringe of the majors. In his last prospect report it was FV 55/55. It is very difficult to play an average or better major league shortstop and centerfield. He might be able to do both. His OAA over his time in the major leagues support the scouting report. Seems like a good thing to have a depth piece in AAA with a fundamentally solid glove up the middle. Really no risk. Worst case they lose him to another team looking to add depth.

Gonna go out on a limb here and just flatly state that information is easily obtainable.

I always heard that Kreidler was an extremely talented shortstop for the Tigers coming up. Shortstop of the future. And the Twins only have Fitzgerald as a backup at shortstop, so they will hope he can hit enough to be a utility guy for several positions. Better than Gasper or Keirsey.

The current 40 Man Roster has got to be one of the weakest in recent memory.  1/3 if not more could actually be removed to add others who might be more promising.

Seems like the Twins claimed another no hit utility player from the Tigers recently. What was his name. Oh, ya, Willi Castro.

Castro was at least hitting .245 ba, .670 OPS with the Tigers... and Castro's first year with us was when he was 26 years old compared to Kreidler who will be 28. Castro had a OPS+ of 87 compared to Kreidler's 11.

I heard that too! 😀

This is silly to discuss any further.  He can't hit.  He does not advance the franchise's trajectory one iota. 'Nuff said.

The fact that a player like this is making news on this site says everything you need to know about the current state of this organization.

Time to face the music. If Lee is the starting shortstop in 2026, Fitzgerald is the backup and behind him is this guy. then it's pretty crystal clear there's no hope for 2026 and if you are thinking differently, you're drinking too much Kool-Aid.
