  1. You know that if we trade him he's going to pitch a no hitter and win a CY Young Award.
  2. It's too risky for him to be a starter. The most that he can be is a long reliever. With the state of the Twins rotation, they're going to need a long reliever anyway. Wishing for him to b a starter won't turn him into a starter. If he can florish out of the pen, then there's always the future potential.
  3. The corner OF positions can be more dangerous than CF due to the walls being closer. I'm not happy to hear that he may need to move to LF for the Classic. I hope that he doesn't break a leg or worse. He's familiar with CF and has learned to protect himself, thus moving him would be riskier than letting him stay there for as long as possible.. To be fair let's ask Buck where he wants to play. Since half the game is mental then let's keep him mentally happy.
  4. I imagine that some players could get cut after ST by both the Twins & other teams that could lead to some transactions. Everything is in flux and adjusttments can be made between opening day and the trade deadline. Being competitive is boilerplate and only means that the team will be competing as best they can with who they've got in the organization. Why do folks insist on making arguments based on semantics? When you own the Twins you can say whatever you want & do whatever you want with your team. They're not going to spend money with declining attendence and with little chance to not lose money in the long run by spending more short term money.. The other brother wanted to spend money to make money. But this brother, wants to generate some cash & confidence before he'll spend more money. And who can blame him? It's time for austerity. Read the tea leaves & between the lines. Go ahead and boycott the team. They've got a business to run. They didn't trade Correa & the rest so they could beat the Dodgers (you know what I mean.)
  5. The new owner wants to take control of his organization, so what? He has a vision, he has consultants that consist of his family and the elite club of other MLB owners to rely on for advice. He's not a dummy. Just look at Minneapolis on the national news, it's in the dumpster and filled with corruption and mayhem.. He wants to protect his investment. Maybe the new investors were promised a shake up from the top of the organization to the bottom when they bought into it. Whatever the reason, there's no scapegoat. Just a new boss who wants to be a boss and control his organization and who he trusts to run it. If I suddenly owned the Twins I would want to be in control to be be able to implement my own vision too. Everyone in the Twins organization should be fighting to keep their jobs by figuring how to win games and sell tickets. It starts with new coaches and then move up the ladder. If I had the billions I wouldn't care what anyone thinks either. It would be my way or hit the highway. Quit trying to fight progress. He's the one with the reins so be patient and let him steer the organization...Giddyap!
  6. He's 6' 4" and weighs 210 lbs, Basically only a rookie,& hitting .250 isn't bad. Hope he has some room for growth.
  7. If he can become an Uber driver then he should get a shot at it.
  8. My favorite would be Luke Keaschall. He doesn't need to own the position since it can be switched to someone who is hotter at the moment. But he seems to be the best pure hitter with a .382 OBP and knows how to draw a lot of BB's. And hopefully he wouldn't be a rally killer by hitting into double plays. The #2 hitter needs to know how to bunt and the #4 hitter would need to hit the potential long ball & sac flies. I don't trust any current prospect to be #3. That would be awefuly wishful thinking.
  9. Shelton handled the press conference admirably. Everything that he said was succint and logical. He mentioned transparency by the FO & owner over & over. He's the new manager hired to manage the players and not a publicity agent. It's not his job to answer dumb questions from assnine reporters. If the fans want to be skeptics and haters then that's their problem. & not Shelton's problem. IMO the author is just stirring the pot because being a shock jock gets more clicks, espeically with the TD crowd that just loves to attack anything & everything. The entire press conference was benign & harmless. Shelton showed that he's one smart cookie. He was being honest & transparent by saying that it's not his place to speak about the Twins future plans. Patience is a virtue.
  10. That's a laugh and a half. Most fans don't have enough business sense to protect an over one billion Dollar investment. Folks must think that the FO wants to just run the team into the ground without any hope for the future. Trade for a 1st baseman &/or a catcher, or propects with there being 2 years of control left for a Yankee killer? Folks should get real and just admit that Ryan isn't going anywhere soon. The Twins will be keeping him to make money & win games. That's a good & sound business decision. Sakes alive! Ryan was a 2025 All Star.
  11. So if he could stick for 2 more years, then you would agree that he could be part of the Twins plan to try to make it to the playoffs. Would you even follow the Twins if you didn't think that they could possibly make the playoffs each and every year? II think that most would agree that the Twins chances of making the playoffs are better with Ryan than without him...especially as a pitcher who has been able to beat the Yankees. Let's agree to the obvious facts. Included is that Ryan is an ace in the hole, and that he's more affordable and has a better health history than Pablo. That's why I think that he sticks, because he's an integral part of the Twins plan to be competitive sooner rather than later, and with the goal of making the playoffs. Because most fans would rather waste time talking about trading Ryan, it shows that they either forgot or could care less about having a pitcher that can beat teams like the Yankees with a bunch of scrub players leftover from after the deadline sell off. IMO the fact that they kept Ryan shows that they're committed to keeping him, at least for a while. I think that folks should get used to the reality that Ryan will most likely be sticking around for a while because Ryan represents hope for the Twins in 2026 and possibly beyond. If the Twins do want to sell season tickets and TV subscriptions for next season, they need to retain some star power on the roster. And Ryan is an important part of it.
  12. It seems that too many Twins fans want to forget that Ryan broke the Yankees winning streak in 2025. All the Twins need to do to gain some respectibility is to make the playoffs, and Ryan can help them to do that. That's how the owners & the FO's maintain some value in their franchises. Of course they want to sell tickets and earn TV money. But they can't do that without winning some games. I think that Ryan will be sticking around in 2026. The FO has a plan that the fans aren't privy to. Google AI: Yes, the Minnesota Twins beat the Yankees 4-1 on August 14, 2025, thanks to a strong performance from pitcher Joe Ryan. Ryan pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing just one run on a home run to Cody Bellinger while striking out seven. The victory also snapped the Twins' nine-game losing streak against the Yankees. Pitching: Joe Ryan (12-5) was dominant, giving up only four hits and two walks. His only blemish was a third-inning home run to Cody Bellinger that gave the Yankees a 1-0 lead. Offense: The Twins scored all four of their runs in the sixth inning. Kody Clemens broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run double. Royce Lewis followed with an RBI double to drive in Clemens. Significance: The win ended a nine-game losing streak for the Twins against the Yankees.
  13. With his managerial career possibly being on the line, if he can get the Twins into the playoffs then that would be a mark of success. For now he gets the benefit of the doubt and time will tell. Good luck to him & the Twins.
  14. I have no desire to see Ryan traded. Too many Twins trades seem to result in a downgraded team, and that's not what I'm looking forward too. Could they trade Ryan for Arraez? Of course not. The Twins should just stand pat and let's see if Ryan had a great season last year because Pablo was injured. I think that Ryan can keep it up, is still relativley cheap to keep and it would be irresponsible to trade him for what the Twins would get in return. The FO should focus on getting a new manager who can make some magic happen with what he'll have to work with. Give them hell Joe!
  15. A guy with a glove as good as his will certainly be smart enough to learn how to hit at the MLB level. I wouldn't even care if he doesn't ever hit for power as long as he can get the job done by playing small ball. He would only need to move some runners over when it matters and generate a decent on base percentage. If he can stay healthy while sacrificing his body to make such fine plays then he'll deserve to move up the ladder quickly. That's because pro ball is a game of replacement with youth being a most valuable asset. I just hope that he's not sent packing like Arraez. Pretty soon there's going to be a new sheriff in town who will decide the new game & team strategies, the attributes & demands made of the players and which players will platoon at each position, with the deciding factors being what can help to win games & sell tickets. And if Houston has the needed gusto then Twins fans will see him on the field sooner rather than later. The worst that can happen is that after a while he becomes part of the meat market which would be a waste of a #1 draft pick. A gold glove SS only drops into your lap once in a blue moon. so I doubt that the Twins will just spit it out without first chewing on it a bit.. I highly doubt that he's another Tsuyoshi Nishioka, & will probably be quite the opposite & become a very capable MLB player..
  16. "Meet the new bums....same as the old bums" I'll bite my tongue and make it bleed now.
  17. I enjoyed reading the article until the author stated, "Byron Buxton, class act and world-class talent, is the player that the Pohlads don’t deserve, and the player Twins fans need." The author obviously has a bug up his butt regarding the Pohlads and chose not to take the high road and stay on topic about Buxton being a class act. He should learn a lesson from Buxton & understand that the Twins are all about the players and the fans and not the owners. The owners don't play the games but the players do which the fans adore them for. Get rid of the negativity & the hate, it's unbecoming of an author to interject his own personal hostility in order to pander to the mob mentaliy & howling wolves. That soured the article for me that was supposed to be about Bucton's greatest season.. Buck knows how to take the high road, too bad that the author didn't.
  18. Realignment in the NCAA has produced conferences that are less regional in order to have games in multiple time zones that benefit the TV contracts that each major conference receives the revenues from. I don't see how division reaignment can be evaluated without knowing more about the location of the expansion teams. How can realignment preceed expansion? I love the balanced schedule and would rather do away with divisions all together and only have an eastern & western division with an equal number of top teams in each making the playoffs. Why does MLB need divisions at all when each team can play each other 4, 5 or 6 times and play a truely balanced schedule without any bias towards any division rivals. Why should anyone care about preserving a 162 game schedule when that's an arbitrary number? Each team could also simply play a balanced schedule with the best teams in each league making the playoffs. There can be a small scheduling bias amoing the east or west or the number of home games don't need to be equal or the home team for a rubber match can be rotated or decided by a coin toss on the field .I think the MLB could benefit by getting away from regional divisions in favor of balanced schedules. Nix the 3 divisions, they aren't needed and only interfere with a balanced schedule. The only truely fair schedule is when all schedules are balanced. No team should miss the playoffs because they play the Dodgers or Yankees too many times by being in the same stupid division. I could also favor just having the standings for each league with the UVWXYZ teams making the playoffs. No one needs divisions at all because they're discriminatory and rig the playoff system. If I'm sick of having divisions then I'll bet that other fans are too. With a balanced schedule it may not even matter which league a team is in. The cream simply rises to the top and makes the playoffs.
  19. Thanks for the correction. So it was Gardenhire that had the talk with Morneau that helped to turn his hitting around. That it was Gardenhire doesn't change the fact that Morneau hit .239 playing in 141 games in 2005 and then hit .321 playing in 157 games in 2006. That just goes to show how much a player can improve from one season to the next. So much BS from the naysayers who think that players & the team can't dramatically improve from one season to the next. If they're saying that a team can't go from last one year to being first the next then think again because that only shows that they have a selective memory of negativism regarding the Twins history & about the Pohlads too. More fans should learn how to think outside of the box in order to not always be so pessimistic about the Twins future. More should actually try to learn from the past that anything is possible..
  20. I remember when Justin Morneau really sucked at hitting. One day Tom Kelly sat down and had a talk with him and toid him he'd better start hitting and you know what, he did. The players need to rise to the occasion and meet expctations or they're going to be gone. Especially if thy ever want to hook uo with a better team someday to get a big payday.
  21. It's too easy to be a part of the mob mentality which ends up becoming myopic What does payroll have to do with playing baseball? Correa's large contract didn't really help the team win very much did it? It sure didn't help his hitting or fielding to improve much did it? He had trouble even staying on the field. What folks don't seem to appreciate is the potential for young players to grow. For some young players it's like turning on a light switch. One day they suddenly just get it & begin to hit. If folks really want to predict next year's weather then they should at least read the Farmers Almanac. I've heard that it's totally reliable at predicting the weather. With it you can even acurately predict how much the rings will grow on all of the trees next year. Maybe some of the players will start to use the torpedo bat. Or maybe some will begin using the ax handle bat like when Kurt Suzuki did and started pounding the ball. The Twins aren't going to trade Joe or Pablo. They can sell tickets which puts fans in the seats and smiles on their faces. Trading them would be bad for business. Fans shouldn't be predicting the worse for the Twins next season when they haven't first consulted the Farmer's Almanac. They could at least wait until after the All Star break to see how the season goes. That's why they play the games.
  22. I love the Twins period and will continue to do so. All this while the Pohlads have owned the team for most of my lifetime. I don't care for all of the trash talking fans and their personal conflicts about why the team hasn't won a world series and/or playoff games. The owners have been transparent about the financial problems with the team & the reasons why. I agree with the author that there are silver linings and too many fans have displayed ugly contempt for them. Too bad, go root for another team. The Twins are going to kick some azz someday and then they'll jump back on the bandwgon about how they've been lifetimeTwins fans. Go fly a kite because I l love the Twins and don't care who owns the team. I like the FO too and I really believe that they try to do the best job that they can. Everyone is human and bound to make mistakes. For now the team is better off just the way it is. If anyone doesn't like it then go sue God and STFU in the process. Twins fans want to be able to enjoy their team without all of the hate & ignorance that they display. Now they want to badmouth the investors too. They're white knights. Get over it, watch the team play ball & appreciate whatever games they can win. Look at how long the Red Sox were cursed. Go root for the Yankees if you want to hate the Pohlads so much & get lost. Rant over.
  23. Whether he becomes a winner or not, I look forward to seeing him get his feet wet in the bigs. It looks like he has a live arm & can make up for some of hose who were traded. I hope the FO gives him a shot soon.
  24. There seems to be some sound observations being made. The hype doesn't bother me & only helps to be optimistic about the future possibilities. Twins fans deserve to be happy about something....anything really. May as well be happy about Luke & be able to look forward wih some positivity.
