Joe Ryan battled today. Didn't have his best stuff, but we will take 6 innings allowing 2 runs every single time.

They haven't been great, but they have scored 3 runs in 5 innings. They have also only struck out once so baffled is probably a bit strong.

getting swept by the Angels would be a tough pill to swallow for the Twins.

It might just be me, but the Twins hitting with RISP seems to be gettin worse in the last few days. We seem to be getting a lot of no out or one out doubles and then not scoring any runs off of them.

Great pick. They did what they needed to and didn't try to get cute and save some money. Vahn Lackey is crazy athletic and I have heard a lot of J.T. Realumuto comps. Bonus is reported at 9.5 million. Joe Doyle said that he has Lackey sliding into his top 10 MLB prospects. I don't know if he will end up that high up in most rankings, but he is definitely a top 1 or 2 prospect in the Twins system. Go Twins!

Last catcher Twins drafted in the first round was Joe Mauer. Just saying.

I think you are likely right, but Joe Doyle has said that he has Lackey moving into his MLB top 10 prospects post draft.

Definitely. He will likely be ranked #1 or #2 in the Twins system.

Lackey has the potential to be a quick mover up the system. Could see him in A+ or AA at the end of this year.

Twins did what they needed to do. They took the guy that fell to them. Good start to the draft. First 4 picks have really gone chalk with Flora going number 4 to the Giants. Go Twins!

Jim Callis leaks out that the Rays are going to take Grady Emerson 2nd overall. This leaves Vahn Lackey for the Twins if they want him.

Take one of the top three guys. Don't get cute with a money saver. Take whichever of the top guys falls to them. I would love to see them get one of the shortstops, but I would be happy with Lackey as well.

Good start, but we definitely still need a couple more arms in the bullpen. Some relievers I would look to target moving forward are Kirby Yates (Angels), Brooks Raley (Mets), and Antonio Senzelata (Rockies). None of these guys are going to blow you away, but they should be available pretty cheaply and help bolster a weak bullpen. If the Twins were willing to give up a bit of prospect capital, Luke Weaver of the Mets seems like a great option. He would immediately slide into their closing role.
