A really great game all around. Solid start from Prielipp. The Twins are going to need him with so many starters injured. Dominant showing by the bullpen allowing just two hits and striking out 7 in three innings. The offense had a great game. They didn't hit homers, but they were clutch at the plate and had timely hitting. They also only struck out 4 times as a team today compared to 14 by the White Sox. Good win. Hopefully we can bust out the brooms tomorrow with Taj on the mound. Go Twins.
Great Job by the bullpen today. Striking out 7 and allowing just two hits. Good offensive game as well. They were scrappy, had timely hitting and only struck out 4 times. They were putting the ball in play almost every time up there. Good win and go for the sweep tomorrow.
I'm don't think the Twins should have a set closer at this point of time, but if I had to choose anyone I would probably go with Yoendrys Gomez. They tried Morris at closer for a couple of games and he struggled. I think the upside is definitely there, but he needs to polish a few things.
Offensive juggernaut Minnesota Twins. Everybody in the lineup has a hit except Luke Keaschall (Walk and Run) and everybody has a run except for Byron Buxton (Hit and SB). All 9 have reached base.
It's hard to praise the bullpen in a game that was lost because of the bullpen, but aside from that 9th inning they were really effective. I think any of us would take 5 innings allowing just one run any day. Taj Bradley wasn't at his best today. The offense kinda quit after Larnach's home run. Hopefully they can bounce back tomorrow. Go Twins.
The Pirates have Skenes, Jones, and Chandler all throwing over 100 MPH. They are all young starters who they developed. I don't know what Pittsburgh is doing, but they can sure develop pitchers. (it also helps to have consitently early draft picks)
Kody Clemens is never going to be an All-Star, but he defnitely would have a place on most major league rosters. He probably wouldn't play as much as he does with the Twins, but he is around a league average player.
First 7 pitches of the game were all fastballs over 100. Credits to Kody for turning that one around. He was obviously sitting fastball after both batters before him getting nothing but fastballs.
