Twins move up to 8th in the draft lottery odds with potential to move up to 5th. Looking forward to replenishing the minor leagues after this season slipped away. Let's get a 1st round pitcher this year.- 15 replies

He definitely had a bad stretch in there, but he seems to be heating up again. Over the last 7 days (small sample) he is hitting .400 with a 1,120 OPS.

Looking up this score made me interested in looking at the bullpen on a random day this season. On May 2nd the Twins played the Blue Jays. Prielipp made the start and was relieved by Justin Topa, Kody Funderburk, Luis Garcia, Anthony Banda, and John Klein. The Twins were winning 4-2 when Prielipp left the game after the 5th inning. They went on to lose 11-4 with the bullpen being charged for 9 runs. Yikes.

Keider Monter last faced the Twins on June 11. He threw 6 1/3 scoreless innings and got the win in a 11-0 thumping for the Tigers. He was matched up against Zebby in that start too. The Tigers hit 6 home runs in that game and lit up Zebby for 7 runs over 6 innings. In that game Cody Lawyerson came in relief of Zebby and Alex Jackson threw the last inning for the Twins. Hopefully the Twins can flip the score on Detroit today.

He has been pretty bad in the outfield, but he has been getting better lately especially after moving out of CF. His DRS is -1 as a right fielder which isn't good, but it is a lot better than it was a month or so ago.

Let's win tomorrow and be done with Chicago for the season. Take 2 of 3 from Detroit and Cleveland and you are likely within 2 or 3 games of the wild card with 7 against the Angels and Giants still to go. There is little to no margin for error, but if the Twins can get hot they can get in. I liked what Josh Bell said in the post game radio interview today. He basically said (Paraphrasing Here) that they know that they will have to get really hot to get into the playoffs, but if they do they will be entering the playoffs as one of the hottest team in baseball.

I think Diaw would be the one to get the call next year because he is higher up and I don't think Cardenas or Banuelas have any future with the Twins. You also forgot Carson Tinney. In terms of pure upside, I would rank them Lackey, Tait, Tinney, Diaw, Cosetti, Jiminez, Ruiz.

Probably have to win the next 3 series' to have a chance. Good bounce back series overall, but they have to build on it in Chicago.

The only questions I am concerned about right now are Can he stay healthy and can he play CF. After that, we have to give him a lot of time.

A couple of thougts on this. a). Taylor Rogers has been what the Twins wanted from him. He hasn't been flashy, but he is the only member of the bullpen who has been there the whole year. b). I would have put Zebby Matthews number 1 or 2 on this list because he is a starting pitcher and he kind of carried the rotation in August with Ryan out. c). The Twins deadline acquisitions apart from Hoffman have been great. Neither Nance or Minter were flashy pick-ups, but they were both veteran pitchers who have had success and have fully delivered for the Twins. Nance is under team control until 2029, but I would love to see the Twins resign Minter for next year. They need Lefty relievers and he has been good for a really long time.

Interesting fact: After last nights game, Taj Bradley moved up to 7th in baseball in SOs. The 6 pitchers ahead of him are Jacob Misiorowski, Dylan Cease, Gavin Williams, Jesus Luzardo, Christopher Sanchez, and Cam Schlittler. Pretty good company.

I know some people weren't big fans of the Twins September call-ups, but I liked them. Acton provides some long relief depth and was pitching really well at AAA and Ben Ross is a utility guy who plays an above average shortstop and can play anywhere on the diamond. It is exciting to see the Twins having 4 rookies in Jenkins, Culpepper, Gonzalez, and Ross all on their offensive roster.
