Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/07/twins-designate-mike-morin-assignment-dfa.html No corresponding move, no trade appears imminent. *scratches head*
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Cron and Rosario were activated off the IL.
Roaddog Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Leaves the 40 man at 37 if I counted right. Precursor to a trade?
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Leaves the 40 man at 37 if I counted right. Precursor to a trade?Freeing up room on the 40 for potential trades is an added bonus, but this is a product of needing to make room on the active roster, and the logical choices to make room being out of options.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Cron and Rosario? What was the other move?
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Cron and Rosario? What was the other move?Haven't seen anything announced yet, but with Buxton still out of the lineup, I'm almost positive it's him to the IL.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 If they elect to look internally one more time before making a trade, add Stashak. Please don't let it be Cody Allen.

Puckett34 Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 It is gonna be Cody Allen. Isn't it? That or future Twins legend, Drew Hutchinson.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 It is gonna be Cody Allen. Isn't it? That or future Twins legend, Drew Hutchinson.No. He was DFA'd to make room for the activation of Rosario and Cron off the IL.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 These seem like pretty minor moves. However, best of luck to Morin. Absent any news yeah I will admit I'm worried about Buxton this time. Landing hard like that on one's chin/jaw area is not something you see often.
Puckett34 Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 No. He was DFA'd to make room for the activation of Rosario and Cron off the IL.I was more thinking of the extra spot on the 40 man. They'll need a bullpen arm sooner than later. And probably need to see what they have in Allen before the deadline.

stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Here’s a rule of thumb. Don’t add players to the 40-man unless you have to. There’s now room to claim someone else’s DFA and more importantly to add major league talent.

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 16, 2019 Author Posted July 16, 2019 I don’t think we’ll see Allen for awhile, if ever. He has pitched all of two innings in Rochester. The front office isn’t going to put him on the 40-man for the sake of a warm body.

The front office isn’t going to put him on the 40-man for the sake of a warm body. And both Rochester games he pitched in the 6th inning, not late inning situations and not the opener bit we often see high profile MLB arms get when they want to ensure they get some work in prior to a call up. He was used similarly in Ft. Myers. It almost looks like a confidence building situation.
darin617 Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Leaves the 40 man at 37 if I counted right. Precursor to a trade? Trades? I would expect waiver claims. Can't trade all these valuable prospects right? Even though they will a ton of people to protect on 40 man this winter. Deal some of them before you lose them this winter for nothing.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Allen started this evening -- one run and two hits so far in one inning.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Allen started this evening -- one run and two hits so far in one inning. That's it for him this evening -- 19 pitches and 12 strikes, no walks, no Ks.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 Morin DFA was just a matter of time. It’s time.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2019 Posted July 16, 2019 I'm kinda impressed they DFA'd Morin, it always felt like the Twins had a death-hold on mediocre relievers who were prime for regression. Despite his shiny 0.97 WHIP, Morin wasn't going to keep pitching that well, and Baldelli wasn't using him. With 3 40 man spots open, I sense the cavalry are coming - though I'd like a spot to be given to Stashak, as others have mentioned. Methinks he's earned a spot. It does seem like the FO and Baldelli are aligned more than when Molitor was here. Rocco didn't like to use Morin? Alright, he gone, we can move on.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Also a matter of culling the dead weight from the roster. Management is aggressively culling out the weaker of the 4 "M"s in the bullpen. Two down (Mejia, Morin), two to go (Magill, May).
