International dollars isn't even actual cash -- it's just the right to add that amount to your pool.

 

If it was international bonus pool money, it would be specified as such.

 

Generally, cash considerations is comparable to the waiver fee (probably a little bit more, to entice the Twins to make this trade instead of just putting Morin on waivers). The waiver fee for outright assignment waivers is $50k.

Yes, May is still the second best reliever on the roster. That hasn’t changed.

May still has the second best K rate, HR rate, extra base hit rate, and THE BEST inherited runner stand rate among the five relievers that have been at the MLB level more or less all year.

So, yes, May is still number two. There is simply an enormous drop from 1 to 2.

 

Still in love with May after Sunday's performance? He's continuing his spiral downward, it's almost cruel what Rocco did to him out there.

 

Based on Sunday, it looks like May has now dropped below his mates in the pen rankings- something's very, very wrong with him. 

 

My initial point was not in defense of the rest of the pen, but to point out that May (as the last of the 4 (M)s, has to be IL'd or dealt. Among the pitchers in the pen, he is the most likely to stir some interest as we head into the deadline.

Me too. Littel us the second best reliever we have. May and Harper third and forth (hard to say in which order), and Parker a truly mediocre fifth. Duffy is just not good and hasn't been consistently good for THREE years. I don't know why we think that's going to change. Stewart is the latest passenger off the Rochester express.

IMO, Rogers is #1, Parker is honorable mention- ie, "Mr. Congeniality", the rest are in a very tight race for Last Place.

Tim Melville, Darin Mastroianni, Tommy Milone... the list literally goes on, the further back you go. It's a long-term pattern with this team, perhaps spanning decades! Further research is called for. How did we miss this pattern? The signs were all there!

 

Trevor May is indeed a marked man.

 

Given Sunday's 1.2 IP/50 pitch "debacular" performance.... which was like watching a slow-moving & fatal train wreck and seemed more like May was being cruelly punished by Rocco, than encouraged...

 

One way or another, he's gone (on IL or traded) by July 31.

He didn’t pitch at all in 2017 and threw fewer than 450 pitches in 2018. He’s already over 700 in 2019.

 

In retrospect, it might have been a good idea to control his pitch counts earlier in the season. Of course, that would have necessitated the FO acquiring competent relievers in the offseason.

For some reason, I thought 450 was all his 2018 work, minors included.
