Mauer is the only former player who is likely to have enough $$ to own anything more than a token %.

Hasn't Torii invested well and could have a big net worth?

Oh FFS. Money was only part of the Twins’ problems over the past three years. Gross mismanagement and utter, complete tone deafness was an even bigger problem.

Huzzah to tone deaf, bad businesspeople leading this franchise into its next (but really the same) era.

So you expect them to talk the talk? The walk is almost always going to be to not spend their own money.  Cohen is a rarity, he is also in New York where he could actually recoup the money if the team consistently wins

Awful, awful news. Another rug pull by the epitome of the "who needs enemies when you have friends like these" family. Just another ridiculously selfish and tone deaf move by the trust fund children.

And for those in the past who have claimed that they're not the worst owners...I view it like a relationship. Sometimes you just get into a situation where it's completely untenable and toxic... Doesn't necessarily mean either person is evil, there's just too much broken trust, pain and bad vibes to continue. The Pohlads might not be the worst (although absolutely no one would argue they're near the best) but the relationship is just too far gone. The fan base hates them and just as recently as a couple weeks ago they've proven why the vitriol is not unwarranted.

Them selling the team was pretty much the only thing I was looking forward to in the near future regarding the twins. Theoretically, even *if* they won a world series now in a few years no it would be tainted because some completely undeserving Pohlad is going to go up there and accept the trophy. Just gross.

They bought the team for like 44 million and it's worth about a billion and a half now. We helped pay for their stadium. We owe them nothing and they've shown that they don't feel they owe us anything. They've squeezed all the juice out of this franchise, just **** off and let us cheer for our team in peace.

More like the new PIttsburgh. Go nowhere, do nothing, sell everything of value. Rinse, wash, repeat.

And a very nice, mostly empty stadium

So they give the green light for Falvey to tear apart the roster, trade away the superstar SS for a pure salary dump and now they say they want to retain the Twins? To say I'm fuming is an understatement. Clearly, this was all planned way before the trade deadline and the complete contempt they have shown for the fans is utterly outrageous.

Notice how the fans are last any time more than one interested party is listed. Pretty on the nose for what we've experienced the past few seasons.

I noticed that too.

The Pohlad family was listed first, BTW

Yeah. Relocation is a non-issue with this. I'm not saying it can never happen. But not in the next 15 years.

I don't think relocation will occur because there is enough opportunity to make money in the Twin Cities region. The lease may have once been a logistical obstacle but it is now 2025 and the law is money and power. A lease would not be supported by our new legal world if the person looking to break that lease had power and money. The old judges have retired. In reality it could happen soon but the best way for someone to make money is to manage the business properly where it currently resides. It should be interesting (well maybe not) to see what happens.

I am a poor and couldn't talk my way out of a wet paper bag regarding investing but.

Hunter made 171 million in career earnings from MLB contracts and probably tens of millions from endorsements.  Tax that and lets say its 100 million, invest well and its 200 million.

How much of that is he contributing to a limited partnership?

But when they do get there, they will thrive.  Vegas is all about entertainment.  The knights have done great in Vegas, the A's will too.  Oakland had too many challenges and issues for them.  They tried working with the City Council but could never get everything to line up properly, some of it relating to acquiring the land and facilitating surrounding supporting development to create the right atmosphere.  But I don't want to go into the debate about the financing because that's a whole rabbit hole to get lost in.

Based on the other news I've seen recently about Las Vegas, they probably will attract large crowds since ballpark prices on food and drink are still noticeably lower than casino prices.

Pohlads just like every other wealthy family

1st Gen is hardworking but evil

2nd Gen is mediocre and arrogant

3rd Gen is entitled, incompetent, and lazy

Didn’t Bill Gates grow up with a wealthy father?  Whatever you say, you can’t call him “mediocre” for being the guiding force behind Microsoft

Wrestling’s Vince McMahon Jr is far from mediocre.   He’s an arrogant jerk but can’t be called mediocre.

Gloria Vanderbilt was the offspring of an extremely rich family, and spawned a fashion empire - not mediocre.

In Baseball, look at the Toronto Blue Jays for much better than mediocre sons of wealthy baseball player fathers: Vlad Jr and Bo Bichette.  And by the way, what about Bobby Witt Jr.?  Can’t call him mediocre

Local athlete Antoine Winfield Jr (I suspect his Vikings dad stashed away more than a few bucks?)

President Trump had a wealthy father.  But whatever you think of him (positively or negatively), people usually have him on one extreme or the  other.  So, he’s certainly not mediocre.

I could keep going.   But notice I stayed away from the arrogant part.

If the Twins were a publicly traded stock, how much would it be down right now!? A ton, but not so much that you wouldn’t continue to short it.

They found someone to inject enough capital to cover their debt. Yay!

Can the team at least flush the roster full of Ex Saints players  that were not even winning games at the AAA level. Bring up players that  actually project to be starters instead of bench guys and career minor league players. I think fans that watch know who were talking about. If your not gonna try and win games, develop some younger guy's that have a chance. I want to see Gonzalez, Walker Jenkins and Culpepper play. Give us some dang hope for the future. Play Lee at third and Royce Lewis at 1st, he can't be any worse over there than Juliene and Mario. How does Gasper still have a roster spot, he cannot throw.  If I don't watch Juliene play again it will be too soon.  I would bring up the coaching staff of the Wind Surge too. Time for a roster flush.  Gasper is bad luck, should never been added.

Are the new minority partners Irwin Jacobs and Mike Lynn?

If Maurer, Morneau, Hunter or other(s) are new minority partners, then they have NO leverage.  Pohlad has final say.

Contract law still exists. The Twins lease is pretty iron clad. Plus what motive does a Minnesota judge have to allow such a thing? You're reaching.

Only if you have fresh, innovative ideas to share with Joe Pohlad as he seeks collaboration.
