The first part of my post was more tongue in cheek after being written off by literally every single media outlet.

What is going on? I thought the Twins were going to be in a basement battle with the White Sox this year? Fantastic from Abel, love what him and Bradley have brought to the rotation. And great to see Buck's bat heating up. Just going to enjoy the moment and take it one game at a time. Clearly, we're not going to keep winning at the rate we've done over the last 10 days but we're playing really good baseball so every reason to be optimistic.

Caratini was a very shrewd signing. He's a decent 1B so his bat will be in the lineup most days and we have our main catcher for next year assuming Jeffers departs in FA. It's hard to believe the Twins are 2nd in the AL in runs scored. It helps that the two main FA signings, Bell and Caratini have settled really nicely. And Buxton and Keaschall haven't got going yet so there's more to come. -
Twins 8, Blue Jays 2: G4 Ignites a Twins Onslaught

Confession: I'm really enjoying watching this team right now. Thought the number of quality AB's in the first few innings was outstanding. Excellent with RISP. Bats went quiet in the 2nd half of the game but the game was just a formality by that stage anyway. Bradley good, if a bit wild at times. But give me 5 innings of 1 run ball any day of the week. Good to see Morris make his debut.- 92 replies

Was it? They went down big in one game in KC, fought their way back, forced them to get their closer up. All the games were close. Sure, most of them didn't go our way but doesn't mean it was lacking.

First of all, hope Meadows is ok. That was a nasty collision with Greene. All the best to him. Bell is off to a great start as a Twin! Some of his hits haven't exactly been sharply hit but good things can happen when the ball is put in play. Good to see Abel pitch 6 scoreless innings. He gave up some well hit balls but he still put up zero's on the scoreboard. Happy for Lee to deliver the game winning hit. Did well to work the count full and then found a hole for his base hit. All in all, fantastic sweep. Shelton has clearly installed a tougher mentality in the players than Baldelli did.

Ober clearly isn't going to strike many people out these days but going 5+ with 2 runs allowed is good. A 4 game sweep of Detroit would be fantastic. Hopefully Abel can find his ST form.

Bradley just continues to improve. I know he's had command issues but I don't understand why the Rays let him go so easily. His stuff is electric. Jax is a good reliever but he's not lights out. Last night Bradley was having trouble with his fastball so he simply went to his other pitches. His splitter was unhittable. Thought we handled Skubal very well - not many will knock him out after less than 5 innings.

The problem with Ober is that he has to be pin point accurate with command of his off speed pitches. Because of his height, his 91-92 mph fastball of a couple of years ago was effective. But 89-90 isn't going to cut it without his changeup/slider/sweeper all working well. Caminero lining a FB well above the strike zone for a double is evidence of that. When he falls behind in the count he's always going to struggle to get outs. Having said that he always fights and both of his starts haven't got out of hand and kept us in the game and I can respect that. So happy for Gray, He's been a very pleasant surprise so far. Lee's going to struggle to get back in the line up right now. Seeing plenty of fight in the team which is good to see. Almost as if they've got a huge chip on their shoulders after being written off by pretty much everyone.

Really need to stop with the baserunning blunders. Caratini trying to get to 3rd was laughable - only Buck would have had a chance there and even he may have been thrown out. And Clemens caught a huge break when Perez threw the ball into CF. A decent throw and he was out on the bases too. Having said that, Bradley's stuff is so good. Loved it when Witt could only watch a 100mph heater down the middle for strike 3. Only 3 K's but not much hard contact off him. He's too prone to a 25-30 pitch inning but his upside far outweighs that. Better command and he can become an ace. Love the ABS challenge system. Think it's been long overdue. One of the best swings I've seen from Wallner going oppo for a HR. 2-4 sounds a lot better than 1-5, especially from a tough road trip. Certainly stuff to work on but also positives from the first week of the season,

My only slight reservation about Abel so far in ST is that he hasn't faced any MLB line ups in his outings to date. He's faced a bunch of fringe players and/or prospects. That should change tomorrow when he faces a split squad Orioles. With them being home, they should have most of their projected opening day line up facing him. Will be watching closely as his stuff looks great. Both him and Bradley are throwing in the high 90's already which is great to see. My rotation would be: Ryan, Ober, SWR, Bradley, Abel.

The only way we can get value in a Larnach trade right now is to include a highly rated prospect. His bat is nowhere near good enough to compensate for his non-existent defense. We'd have to dangle someone like Soto or Gonzalez, someone who's stock is rising.
