bighat Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Woohoo! This shows the Twins think the Central is winnable division and that they're interested in going for a playoff run. If you're complaining, go suck a lemon! Let's all enjoy this competitive move! Go Twins! Blackjack, DJSim22, Oldgoat_MN and 8 others 11

diehardtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Not sure I'd sell on Blankenhorn, that's probably too much to give up... It sounds like it isn't too expensive... is it too much to hope they ship Gibson off with him? 70charger and nater79a 2
notoriousgod71 Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Travis Bowyer and Billy Bullock come to mind at a time like this. Don't even remember who they went for. No one thought Bowyer and Tyler for Castillo was a bad trade. And Billy Bullock for Scott Diamond is still a terrible trade, considering where the Twins were at that time. Thrylos 1
twinssouth Provisional Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Someone on Braves site threw out Blankenhorns name, pure speculation. A bunch of them want Garver, Jay, Thorpe, salivating over Kiriloff. Surprised they new so much of our Farm system. They even went so far to check box scores to see if anyone was pulled from tonight's games They couldn't find anyone. glunn and Oldgoat_MN 2

I'd be fine if it was him for the record, though the team is a bit thin at catching depth. That said, I think that's more coincidental. I would think Atlanta would want more than him. glunn 1

Well maybe Jay wouldn't be that enticing for the Braves. I would say no on Thorpe or Kiriloff Edited July 21, 2017 by AZTwin d-mac and D.C Twins 2

Though he had already walked 4 at that point.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 It might be Vielma the AAA shortstop or Stewart or Park or Garver. Eachhad qualities that could entice the Braves. It absolutely would not be Park. Setting aside the fact that he costs money and has been pretty bad, the Braves already have Freeman and Adams and no DH spot to fill either. glunn and Respy 2
David HK Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Jaime has a lot of experience, and most AL hitters have yet to have faced him. Also gives us an option to vary our arms in the rotation and put less pressure on Berrios.Santana (RHP)Jaime (LHP)Jose (RHP)Mejia (LHP)Whoever is pitching least worstHeh... that is the most aptly-named #5 starter in the Twinks rotation I've seen so far. There are other enticing players we could give them. I still am holding out hope it clicks for Stewart I guess I get that, but my hope there was that Ks from FTM last year would return in AA. They haven't. He's had injury issues and this year, he's started walking guys at a high rate (technically this started last year when he got bumped to AA). I get the potential, but at this point, I don't think the Twins can fix him. I have no desire to pick up a rental for anything expensive. If Stewart was the price I paid, that wouldn't bother me much. d-mac, glunn and PDX Twin 3

DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Lot of freaking out over what will likely be a non prospect. This is a good trade for the Twins assuming they don't give up a good prospect (they won't) They absolutely need a solid 4/5 type guy tarheeltwinsfan, brvama, Ben B and 5 others 8

sthpstm Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Considering the best prospect that the Braves gave up to get Garcia was someone in or below the Jake Reed/Pat Light/etc territory, and the others were not high cieling risks either, yes I'd be annoyed if it is someone like Blankenhorn, a consensus top 10 in the system. d-mac Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 At first I was like "Ew, Jaime Garcia? No way." Then I'm like, ok if he doesn't cost anything more than a Kohl Stewart. So basically low teens level prospect or worse.

Rosterman Verified Member Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 Be interesting to see the 40-man roster move this time. Is he better than Dillon Gee? Since he is pure salary dump and a rental, you trade a prospect - I say someone from A+...look, maybe it will be Dereck Rodriguez. I imagine the Twins are presenting any number of names that that MAY have to protect next season but really don't, especially from the lower minors. D.C Twins and glunn 2
