Agree. I see lots of posters excited at what the Eaton trade could mean for the Twins. But I go the other way. Eaton has roughly 50% more value than Dozier, so I can't see us getting a comparable return for Dozier.

Either way, he's worth more than Dozier.  

 

Eaton is younger, is going to get paid 38.4 M for the next 5 years.  Even if you assume he'll play CF EVERY year of the next 5 (which I highly doubt), you're probably looking at a 3-3.5 WAR per year.  So if we say 8M per WAR, and you figure an average of 3.25 WAR for 5 years, that's 130M.  130M minus 39 equals 91M of surplus. About 30M more than Dozier.

I don't know how long TD has had GT's. I have hung around on the periphery for a couple years or so. But my biggest fear for GT is Twins success! GT's are fun for the sarcasm, and gallows humor. If for example they replace Robbie G in LF, no longer play Sano in RF, or actually start catching the ball and hitting an occasional cutoff man, it could throw every one off! It starts with just one person saying something sensible about baseball, and the next thing you know everyone is doing it. Then we get back in the hunt for that coveted second WC slot. From there it just gets out of control. We have a good thing going, DONT RUIN IT!

I don't know, Dozier getting traded would be the biggest transaction since Johan. I think the interest is warranted. Plus the entertainment factor of Dave sticking to his guns, while hanging tough in the face of a lot of blowback. And then you've got mod and owner intervention and associated criticism. Finally, your got some damn funny posts. It's the perfect storm.

My hat is off to Dave.W or is it Dave W.? It's been entertaining, funny, and maybe even a little weird.
