  1. True, but I think shorter batters are less effected by big legs kicks than taller/longer players. Seems like the lanky guys with long kicks/swings have struggles more....though hit for power when they do connect.
  2. Seems like most of our prospects are struggling, in general so far this season, no?
  3. His line today is pretty impressive at least. Looks like he might bump is K% back up. I hope.
  4. Please post pitcher velocities and hitter exit velocities as you read, see, or hear about them. And, wheather they’re up or down from last season, if you know. For instance l, Hughes was throwing 90-91....up from last years 89.7mph.
  5. Its plausible that the Twins have changed their minds on him as a prospect as well. Maybe they saw some flaw they thought might hold back his projections. Finding something like a vision issue as an out is a simple fix to get out.
  6. Can always keep both, and move him to either 2B or LF.
  7. I personally don’t think we should sign a fa sp because if the team takes a step back it’s a waste of money. I’d rather see us play out the first few months of the season to access whether we are a contender again and see how our mlb and milb sp are performing. Then, be the team that moves FIRST for a sp, if we deem we are in need of one and a contender again. We can’t just assume that we will be this good or better next year, even if everyone is healthy. There is just as much room for regression with most our guys, and growth and success isn’t just linear.
  8. I am pretty sure the Dodgers used the DL work around with Seager 2 years ago, when he wasn't on roster. Pretty easy to come up with an injury to replace a guy.
  9. Just bumping this to get it on most current page, in case anyone has some info.
  10. I have not seen Gibsons' last two starts, or heard anything about him. Is there something different about his last two starts? Mechanics change? Add or ditch a pitch? Velo up? Or just small sample size mirage?
  11. He clearly still has the potential to be one, as he is showing right now, and from his numbers in the MiLB. However, He still needs to prove that he can actually begin a season like this, stay healthy, and sustain the good numbers. Those are things he has yet to prove. I am sure hoping he can do it though.
  12. I think Buxton has more of the sprint speed type that is better at the 200-400 than it is suited for the 40-100 sprint. Those short sprints are better for 'quick' guys. First steps are huge in that and getting to top end speed as soon as possible. I think he is improving his first step while stealing and in the OF.
  13. We weren't looking at option #3, which is the best of all with Hughes.
  14. Wouldn't Javier need to be promoted then too? Is he ready for -A?
  15. I have to say that I am surprised at how bad Turley has been in his 3 starts. With how many bats he was missing in AA/AAA I thought he'd at least be a guy that would be able to be serviceable. Thought he'd be a guy that has a high K/9, but only go like 5 innings due to BB's and deep counts. But, he isn't even striking guys out. I have missed all of his starts, so I don't know why he's failing. Is it his FB or CB getting destroyed? Location? Everything? How can a guy go from being sooooo dominant in the minors to virtually the opposite in the MLB? Hoping that he can fix whatever it is, and come back up in the bullpen. I just have a gut feeling this guy is going to be a good pro by season end in some role.
  16. LucasDad (MN): If you would put Greene in the 20's...where would you put Lewis...the kids drafted 1-1?!?! Craig Goldstein: Well, the draft order is affected by things beyond pure talent (this is part of why the draft system as it currently stands sucks), but he'd probably be behind Greene. We don't have these guys slotted out because we emphasize what we can see/learn from their pro debuts. LucasDad (Mn): What exactly is MN thinking with their 3 picks? It seems like they reached on all 3. It seemed like they were hoping to save money for picks 2, and or, 3...but they were both also reaches. I am very confused. Craig Goldstein: I'm not exactly sure. There's nothing wrong with Royce Lewis -- I know some teams had him valued as a top 2 guy, but it doesn't seem like they used their extra slot value in the first couple rounds. Maybe they'll ink a slew of guys either throughout the top 10 rounds or after to bigger slot deals and take a quantity over quality approach. It wouldn't be the worst gamble in a draft that didn't have an obvious candidate to try and sneak through to a later pick.
  17. Well, the Cubs have the luxury of being able to take this approach due to their having the money to buy and or trade for established pitching. I still agree that hitters are more likely to pan out at the top, but you then either have to buy good pitching or get really lucky later on in the draft or with IFA's.
  18. I think Turley could be a dominant RP right now, but also think he could be a good 5-6 inning pitcher with a higher WHIP, but low ERA and plenty of K's. I think that either is useful on this team.
  19. Questions about his hit tool, power, and arm. So, speed gets him drafted #1?!? I'm hoping those questions on his tools end up wrong, but this seems awfully weird guy to draft at 1-1.
  20. Looking at the 3 HR's he gave up yesterday, it appears that two of them were on his CB. Both of those were on CB's that were low and inside on RHB's. Since his CB looks pretty close to a slider, I think he'd be better off throwing down the center and letting them chase it off the plate, rather than staring off the plate and then ending up inside the plate. Just my thoughts.
  21. Just affirming what I thought and hoped was going on, just with some details. Good to know its being done and emphasized, not just dabbled in and lightly considered.
  22. Super cool DaveW, thanks for supporting this. I am giving show 32 a sample right now. Like it. Would love to contribute, but just can't financially, but maybe content if needed/wanted. Would have to filter my past posts to see if I'm the type of dude you're looking for. Have done wrestling and football broadcasts in past because my uncle is VP of a radio station.
  23. And no incentive to play to tank/rebuild, if there is no consensus top talents.
