Great go have another North Carolinian join Jeffers  (Raleigh), Ober (Huntersville) and Mathews. (Cullowhee ). While I have not met Walker Jenkins (Southport) I have  close friends who know him well and they tell me he is a great player, but an even better person.  Even though Merek Houston did not grew up in North Carolina, he went to college in North Carolina at Wake Forest. Go Tar Heels !

FWIW: Emmanuel Rodriguez's exit velos in his first 3 at-bats today in AAA

At-bat 1: 101.9 MPH ground out

At-Bat 2: 103.5 MPH Double

At-Bat 3: 102.1 MPH Home Run

Personally I would love to see E-Rod be the September call-up, but I doubt that will happen. One way or the other, though, I think we will see him at some point this year.

It seems this move is coming about a week late, but I'm glad we finally did it.  Buxton NEEDS this IL stint at the least, and I'm concerned his season may actually be over.  It is probably unfair to expect a talented 21 year old to spark the team to a Wild Card spot, seeing as we have about 5 teams to jump over at the moment.

But having Jenkins and Culpepper both on the team gives us Twins fans something to look forward to when we settle into our recliner to watch a Twins game at night.  Getting back into serious Wild Card position won't be the expectation for me at first.  Just watching Jenkins and Culpepper will be enough.  

But if something remarkable happens, that will be a nice outcome.  A welcome by-product of almost yearning for the opportunity to see Jenkins and Culpepper wearing the uniform of a Minnesota Twin.  The next couple guys for me are Marek Houston and Vahn Lackey.  That will take a little more time, but Christmas finally came on Thursday, and I get to open my presents tonight.

He’s ATHLETIC, nowhere near a good outfielder though. He may have the worst throwing arm of any outfielder in MLB. I like Luke and hope he can figure it out. The fact that he’s been forced to play CF is a reflection on organization not taking action with other moves when Martin went down & while Buxton has been banged up (2 months). They chose Luke’s bat over Kreidler’s glove and it’s been a mix of bad & good……….Bringing & keeping Roden up with Larnach in the mix wasn’t great …….. they tried Fedko & that failed……..Hopefully, Walker J. will have some success early on, like this weekend!

My hope for Jenkins for this year is to put up numbers somewhere between what Culpepper (.907 OPS ) and Max Clark (.681 OPS) have done this year, and my fingers are crossed he doesn't look like Jackson Holiday when he was called up the first time (Completely over matched).

But I am excited he will be getting big league at bats this year no matter how he performs this year so he can hit the road next year with some experience. 

What I am saying is no matter what he does this year, it was right move even though it is too late. 

Watching the kids (Culpepper, Jenkins and Keaschall, Lee and hopefully Erod ) makes this team more exciting no matter the game outcomes and you can possibly,maybe see the FO actually has a vision going forward. 

Hopefully attendance increases and the Twins get up Lackey earlier as well (Not calling for it now, just saying I don't want to go though this again with him)

Not everyone wears the mantle easily, and Culpepper's experience is not normal, so I guess my point is never be surprised when one rookie stumbles while another glides.

A player is considered a rookie in MLB unless they exceed 130 plate appearances in a previous season. This threshold is important for eligibility for rookie awards and recognition.

If Buck's season is over, that takes care of the 40-man roster question.

Buck goes on the 60-day IL, which removes him from the 40.

Kyle Tucker is a good talent/upside comp for Walker Jenkins. Tucker hit .141 during his first 28 games in the big leagues.

Larry Walker is a Hall of Fame upside comp for Jenkins. He hit .170 in his first callup.
